Multi-cylinder pump. The invention relates to pumps with several cylinders of the type in which there is provided a rotating cylindrical body enclosed in a cylindrical casing and comprising a series of cylinders in which pistons come and go, when the cylindrical body rotates in the cylinder. envelope.
The pump according to the invention allows lubrication of the moving parts by means of the fluid passing through the pump.
These pumps are intended in particular to be used for pumping viscous fluids, such as viscose and nitrocellulose collodion, in combination with the spinning mechanism by means of which these fluids are expelled through dies to form filaments. of artificial silk, although, of course, these pumps can be used for all the ordinary purposes for which the pumps are reserved. The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of the improved pump, taken along the line 1 - 1 of FIG. 2; Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 2-2 of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along line 3-3 of FIG. 1-; Fig. 4 is an end view of the left end of the pump shown in FIG. 1.
A denotes a casing having a cylindrical element A1 and suction and discharge chambers Az and A3 opening out into the cylindrical bore midway between its ends, as shown in the drawing. A4 designates a passage or duct with an open side putting chamber A = in communication with the left end of the enclosure and A5 designates a passage or duct with a similar open side putting chamber A3 in communication with the right end of the enclosure. the envelope.
B and B1 denote chambers formed at the ends of the casing with which the ducts A4 and AL communicate and with which also communicate, as indicated, the inlet and outlet ports As and A '.
C denotes an annular end plate fitting over the left end of the casing and having, as shown, a cylindrical inner surface C '. D denotes an additional end plate s 'adap tant against the outer edge of the end plate C and having a threaded extension D' and a threaded central perforation D2. The end plates are fixed together and at the end of the casing by bolts, as shown in H. F designates a threaded ring screwed onto the threaded extension Dl, the outer annular surface of the ring F fitting tightly against the cylindrical surface Cl.
This ring F has an extension FI extending into the chamber B and supporting a helical cam indicated at Fz. f and f 1 are openings formed through the extension FI in order to constitute a communication between the chamber B, the orifice As and the passage A4. G denotes a threaded bolt screwing into the hole D 'and having a rounded end extending into the chamber B for the purpose explained later. H denotes a plate forming the right end of the casing and held in position by bolts indicated at I.
As shown, this plate has a threaded gland extension H1 into which fits a gland cap H2 adjusted by means of the nut H3 threading onto the threaded gland as shown. H4 designates a stop for the end- of the rotating body J extending into the chamber B '.
J denotes a cylindrical body which fits into the cylindrical bore of the casing and having, as shown, a cylindrical extension Jl extending into chamber B and a control shaft J2 extending through the press- stuffing, in the end plate H and to this drive shaft is connected, for example, a gear wheel 1V1. J4, J4, etc.
denote cylinders formed in the rotating body J and opening into the left chamber B but not into the right chamber Bl. The inner ends of these cylinders are communicated, by means of radial holes J5, with the surface of the cylindrical body J, at points where they coincide, when the body rotates, with the suction and discharge ports A 'and A3. I,
designates a central perforation formed in the extension Jl. K designates a head pin fitting into the perforation JI 'and against the end of which abuts the end of the bolt GY so as to keep the rotating body J in contact with the stop H4 and in a fixed position in the casing. L, L designate pistons moving in the cylinders J4 and having heads as indicated in L 'which are formed so as to s' adapt on each side of the helical cam F 'so that when the body J rotates,
the udders receive an alternative movement in the J4 cylinders.
In operation, the fluid entering, for example, through the port As, enters the chamber B from which it passes in the open side A4 step wise, coming into contact with the surface of the rotating body J, in the chamber d Ag aspiration; from there the fluid passes through the ports J 'in the ends of the cylinders J4 during the suction strokes of the pistons and then again through the ports JI it passes into the chamber A3 and, through the open side passage A' , in the end chamber B ', and from there, through the outlet port A'.
It will be understood that the pistons of the pump are actuated by the rotation of the cylindrical body J and by the cam. acting on the heads of the pistons, and it is evident that all the moving parts, in chamber B, as well as in chamber B1, are constantly lubricated by the fluid flowing and being pumped, and that the body rotating cylindrical J is constantly lubricated,
along its entire length by the fluid passing through the open side conduits 9. ' and A '. In addition, the thrust per end on the rotating cylinder body J is only the difference between the pressure existing in the chambers B and B '; this difference is not generally large, and therefore the improved construction tends to prevent leakage.
