par des passages, avec des espaces contenant respec tivement du fluide sous haute pression et du fluide sous basse pression, une partie au moins de l'un de ces passages étant constituée par un espace d ont la section de passage effi caceest modifiée par un mouvement axial de cette partie rotative par rapport à l'enveloppe, de façon qu'un tel mouvement modifie l'écou lement du fluide à travers ce passage;
Machine having at least one rotating part rotating in an envelope. The subject of the invention is a machine having at least one rotating part rotating in an envelope and comprising a device for adjusting at least one clearance axial existing between the rotating part and the casing. This machine could be, for example, a pump or a compressor or a motor driven by pressurized fluid or even be a regulator for regulating the pressure or the flow rate of a fluid.
This machine is characterized, according to the invention by a chamber for pressurized fluid and whose wall comprises at least a part constituted by a thrust surface presented by the rotating part and @ arranged so that the pressure prevailing in said chamber, by acting on this surface tends to axially displace the rotating part, this chamber communicating,
by passages, with spaces respectively containing high pressure fluid and low pressure fluid, at least part of one of these passages being formed by a space d, the effective passage section is modified by a movement axial of this rotating part relative to the casing, so that such a movement modifies the flow of fluid through this passage;
the whole so that an increase in the pressure of the fluid in said chamber is caused when the rotating part moves against the action of this pressure and vice versa. The clearance adjustment fluid could be supplied by a source specially arranged for this purpose, or by soot other source available whatever,
for example by the pressurized part of a pressurized fluid machine or a valve, or by a pressurized lubricating device.
The invention could also be applied to machines in which the function of the rotating part is not to act on a fluid or to be actuated by it or to act on it. adjust pressure or flow.
The drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the machine which is the subject of the invention and two variants of this form.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of this embodiment, o @@ nstituée by a gear pump, along the plane containing the axes of its toothed wheels.
Fig. 2 is a section on 2-2 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a section on 3-3 of: FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a. Section on 4--4 of .la fig. 2.
Fig. 5 is a united section corresponding to that of FIG. 1 of part of a first variant of this embodiment.
Fig. 6 is a section similar to that of FIG. 5: of a second variant of this embodiment.
The pump shown in FIGS. 1 to 4 comprises an envelope made up of two similar bodies A and Al, an intermediate plate AZ placed between them, and covers A and A4, gilding one, A4, comprises -suie protruding recessed part A, in in which a drive shaft B1 is mounted in bearings B.
The covers A3 and A4, the bodies A and Al and the plate A2 are strongly clamped together by a series of As bolts which pass through them.
The plate Az and the bodies A and Al surround the working chamber of the gear pump; the high and low pressure spaces of this working chamber are respectively designated in FIG. 2 by C and ci and communicate respectively with inlet and -output passages C = and C3 provided in devices <RTI
ID = "0002.0034"> tubular C4 and 05 extending axially through the plate Az, the body A and, the cover A3, as can be seen more particularly in FIGS. 2 and 3.
Toothed wheels D and D "have hubs D? Protruding from either side and fitted tightly in the inner ends of the bores of bodies A and A1. These wheels rotate inside the body. the working room.
The cylindrical surfaces of the hubs D2 and of the bore parts in which they are located constitute the practically sealed joints between the working chamber of the. pump and the outer parts of the bores of the bodies A and Al.
The toothed wheels D and Dl are mounted in a rigid manner, keyed on shafts and El which carry them, and which are themselves carried, near their ends, by roller bearings E2, housed in said bores of the bodies A and Al.
The ends E3 of these shafts turn freely in a closure member F, in the form of a plug. The members F each have an annular face FI, which is pressed by a spring F2 to form a tight seal with the inner face of the cover As or A4.
The bores formed in the members F to receive the ends E3 of the shafts E and E 'open into conical recesses A7 and a chamber A $ of the projection Au.
The two recesses A7 of the cover A3 communicate with each other via a passage A3,
while the two recesses A- # placed at the ends of the shaft E communicate with each other by a perforation El of this shaft and the recess A- # of the cover A4 communicates with the chamber A3 by a passage A '. Thus, the three recesses A, all communicate in fact with the chamber Aa.
In this way, the pump has chambers G, G ', GZ and G3, each of which is between the end face of a hub D2 and the corresponding plug F. Thus, any fluid pressure being established in the one of these chambers acts on the.
adjacent end face of the hub D = to apply an axial force to the toothed wheel D or Dl, to which the hub corresponds. The end faces of the hubs D2 thus constitute thrust surfaces on which the fluid pressures prevailing in the chambers G, Gl, act,
G2 and G3, which thus exert axial forces on the toothed wheels constituting the rotating parts of the pump.
Passages H and J are formed in the bodies A and Al and open out at points on each of the end faces of the working chamber C located opposite the solid central part of the toothed wheel D, on the pressure side C .2 of this working chamber.
The passage H communicates by a passage H 'with the chamber G, while the passage J communicates by a passage Jl with the chamber Gl.
Likewise, passages K and L formed respectively in the bodies Al and A open out at points on each of the end faces of the working chamber C situated opposite the solid central part of the toothed wheel Dl, on the side below pressure of this working chamber.
The passage K communicates by a passage Kl with the chamber G2, while the passage L communicates by a passage Ll with the chamber G3.
The chamber A8 is connected to the low pressure side of the working chamber by a step A ". And a valve A'2, controlled by a slight spring, tending to maintain a low pressure there. The shaft El is connected by a DI coupling to motor shaft Bl.
The operation of the machine is as follows: The shaft Bl is driven by a motor to turn the toothed wheels D and D1 in the direction indicated by the arrows in fig. 2, so that liquid is sucked through the passage,
C3 from the low pressure side C1 of the pump working chamber and discharged under pressure from the high pressure side of the working chamber C through the discharge passage C2. The pump is intended to operate with high discharge pressure.
Therefore, during operation, a small amount of liquid is continuously forced out from the high pressure space of the working chamber C, between the faces of the gears D and Dl and the adjacent faces of the bodies A and Al and through passages H, J, K and L up to chambers G, Gl, G2 and G3 respectively.
A small continuous leak occurs from these chambers by the minimal clearances existing between the ends E3 of the shafts and the corresponding plugs F. These clearances are not modified by the axial movements of the shafts.
The arrangement is therefore such that the greater the velocity of the flow in any of the passages H, J, K, and L, the greater is also the pressure in the corresponding chamber G, Gl, G = or G3, to which this passage ends and that,
if any of the passages H, J, K or L is practically closed, the pressure in the corresponding chamber G, Gl, G2 or G3 drops practically to the -value of the pressure prevailing in the recesses t17 and Aga Let us first consider the impeller ty D. If, during the operation of the pump,
this toothed wheel tends to move to the left in FIG. 1, thereby reducing the gap between its left front face and the adjacent front face of the working chamber, the flow of pressurized liquid from the high pressure space of chamber C and through the passage H is decreased,
thus lowering the pressure in chamber G. At the same time, the clearance existing between the front-right face of the toothed wheel and the adjacent face of the working chamber is increased,
thereby increasing the flow of pressurized liquid from the high pressure space of chamber C and through passage J to chamber G1. Thus, the pressure decreases in the chamber G and increases in the chamber Gl, so that,
since these pressures act on the end faces of the hub Dl of the toothed wheel D, the latter is moved in a direction such that it tends to return to its original position.
In the same way, any axial movement of the toothed wheel D1 causes in the chambers G2 and G3 pressure variations such as to tend to return the toothed wheel to its original position. Therefore, thanks to the arrangement described,
the two toothed wheels are maintained in axial positions such that their frontal clearances are equal and these two toothed wheels cannot be forced to move axially nor be maintained with a minimum play on one of their end faces and with a maximum play ,on the other,
as tends to occur in conventional gear pumps.
In the variants of FIG. 5, the toothed wheels 0 and 01- of the pump each have cylindrical parts 02 sealingly engaged in bores of the bodies A and A1.
These wheels are rigidly fixed to ides shafts 03 carried by bearings P and on which are rigidly mounted members Pl in the form of pistons, sliding in the external parts of the bores ries bodies A and Al,
and each having a hub of the same diameter as the corresponding hub 02 and forming an extension thereof. Thus are formed of .pressure chambers Q, QI, Q2 and QI, to which respectively lead passages J, H,
K and L each opening into a front face of the working chamber at a point located opposite a solid part of a toothed wheel on the high pressure side of this working chamber. A slight continuous leakage occurs from these chambers Q by a clearance between the members P1 and the corresponding bores.
For the rest, this variant is identical to the pump in fig. 1 to 4. Thanks to this arrangement, any movement of the toothed wheel 0 towards the left, in fig. 5, increases the clearance through which pressurized liquid can flow to the right-hand passage J and reduces the clearance through which pressurized liquid can flow to the left-hand passage H, so that the pressure increases. lies in the Q chamber and .decreases -in the QI chamber. Thus, the udder-shaped organ Pl of the Q chamber tends to.
move toothed wheel 0 to the right to its original position. Axial movement of the 01 . Gear has a similar effect on the pressures in the QI and Q3 chambers, so that the 0 and 01- are kept centered, with approximately equal axial clearances.
The variant of FIG. 6 is similar to that of FIG. 5 except that the rooms Q, QI, QI and Q3 are connected by passages Jl, H \, Kl and Ll at passages J2, H2, KZ and L2,
which constitute - fluid exhaust passages opening out at points on each of the end faces of the working chamber located opposite - solid parts of toothed wheels 0 and 01, close to the part at low pressure - from this working chamber: from the pump.
The. chambers Q, QI, Q2 and Qj communicate. also through passages J3, H3, K3 and L3 with J4, H4 K4 and L4, with a suitable high pressure fluid source, for example with the high pressure portion of the working chamber.
Thus, liquid is continuously re-crushed. In -rooms Q, QI, QI and Q3 with -a regulated speed -by the gauging holes J4, 114, K4 and L4 and continuously escapes through passages J2, H2, KZ and L- with a speed which,
is modified by possible variations in the axial clearances between the toothed wheels and the pump casing, variations which modify the effective passage section of the communications between the chambers Q, QI </ B > , QI and Q'3 and the low pressure part of the working chamber.
Thus, if for example the toothed wheel 0 tends to move towards the -left, it opens the right passage H = and closes the left passage J2. The rate of escape of fluid from chamber Q1 thus tends to increase, while it tends to decrease from chamber Q, so that the pressure increases in chamber Q and decreases in the QI, chamber so as to bring the toothed wheel back to its original axial position.
Thus, each of the toothed wheels 0 and 01 is maintained in an axial position in which its axial clearances are equal to one another.
