p My invention relates to multicylinder pumps of the general type in which a rotating cylindrical body enclosed in a cylindrical casing is provided with a series of cylinders in which pistons are caused :to reci rocate as.

In another application filed b me J anuary- 11, 1927, Serial No. 160,373, I ave described and shown an improved pump of this general type in which Ihave provided for the lubrication of the moving parts by thefiuid passing through the pump and for the balanced pressures existing inthe ump by certain novel features of construction which are broadly claimed in the said pending application, my present application being for the specific purpose of covering a special form of pump embodying improvements broadly covered in my said application. My inventions, both as described in my said former application and in the present case, have sp cial reference to pumps-adapted for use in p mping viscous fluids such as viscose Y and intro-cellulose collodion 1n connect on with the spinning mechanism by which such fluids are forced through spinnerettes to form artificial silk filaments, though of course my pumps can be usefully applied for the ordinary purpose of 1pumps in general.

A multiple cylinder pump comprising a nected one with each chamber, suction and delivery chambers lying opposite to each other and opening into the cylindrical bore and open faced channels connecting said chambers one to each end chamber of the cylinders formed therein opening through one end of the cylindrical body but not through the other end thereof, and ports extending radially from said cylinders and registering with the suction and delivery chambers of the casing, pistons working in the cylinders and extending. into the end chamber into which said cylinders open, a cam for reciprocating the. pistons located in. the end chamber into which their ends extend and means also located in said end chamber for maintaining contact of the pistons and cam.
