Fig. 1 et fig.
Remote control electrical installation. The invention relates to electrical remote control installations and its aim is the efficient monitoring of an installation by which devices or means located in one or more remote stations such as, for example, high intensity switches, etc. of a substation isolated from a motive power distribution installation, can be operated by electricity from a central station and in which, when movement of an apparatus takes place, an indication is signaled to the central station.
According to the invention, the installation comprises means at the remote station, which are put into action by a change of position of the devices of the remote station and serve to transmit signaling currents to the central station, means to the central station , which respond to said signaling currents to indicate such a change, means at the remote station for simulating a change in position of said devices so that signaling currents are transmitted to said central station, and a transmitter of characteristic combinations of pulses to the central station for selectively controlling said simulating means.
Fig. 1 and fig. 2 of the drawing placed next to each other schematically show an embodiment of the invention given by way of example, FIG. 1 showing the central or control station, while FIG. 2 shows the remote station.
With reference to the drawing, the central station 9 of fig. 1 is connected with a plurality of substations B and C of FIG. 2 by means of line conductors 5, 6 and 7. In each substation high current switches, etc. are housed, but to prevent confusion only the devices of substation B are shown in detail and in this station only high current switches 8 and 9 are shown.
The movable part of the high intensity switch 8 is provided with a contact lever 13, adapted to be connected with the battery 14 in a manner described below and intended to close its contact with one of the contacts 15 and 16, depending on the position of the high current switch. The switch 9 is provided with a corresponding contact 17, provided to engage with one or the other of the contacts 18 and 19. These contacts are provided for the purpose of establishing a momentary circuit to start the mechanism. indication, which will be described in detail in the following des cription.
The installation works as follows. Switch 8 at the remote station can be considered open as shown and the green light 68 at the control station on, while the red light 67 is shorted. Assuming that switch 8 is to be closed, the central station operator causes the impulse wheel 88 to rotate in the direction of the arrow, thereby causing relay 140 to operate in a circuit which can be traced from battery 143 to relay 140, impulse wheel 88, contact lever 90, contact 86 and left armature of relay 87 to battery 143. Relay 140, while operating, closes with its left armature a battery circuit 143 through relay 142.
When the relay 142 operates, it disconnects the charge generator from the battery 93 so that this battery is freed of any earth or other potentials coming from the charge generator during the transmission of impulses from the wheel 88. Operating the relay 140 closes by its right armature a circuit for relay 89, which can be traced from battery 143, conductor 144, right armature and right working contact of relay 140, conductor 145, relay 89, conductor 146 to battery 143. By energizing, relay 89 attracts its two armatures and connects battery 93 with line conductors 5 and 6.
As the impulse wheel 88 continues to rotate, the contact between the contact levers 90 and 94 is alternately closed and opened and relay 84 energizes and de-energizes through a circuit which can be traced from battery 143. , conductor 144, left armature and NC contact 86 of relay 87, contact levers 90 and 94, NC contact and armature of relay 85, relay 84 to battery 143.
With the energizing and de-energizing of the relay 84, the direction of the current printed on the conductors of lines .5 and 6 is alternated. These alternating pulses activate a selector device 148, FIG. 2. For this selector device pulse code positioning is provided, preferably as described in UK Patent No. 117170, but it goes without saying that other suitable selectors may be employed.
The pulse wheel 88 is arranged so that it gives the proper number of pulses or alternations to rotate the selector contact lever 148 step by step until it makes contact with the switch button. contact 149. A circuit of the battery 153 is then closed for the upper winding of the relay 150. The armature 151 is attracted towards the upper winding of the relay 150 and closes through the contact 152 an excitation circuit for the relay 150. High current switch operating winding 8. This circuit can be traced from battery 153 through armature 151, contact 152, switch winding 8 to battery 153.
The movable armature of the switch 8 carrying the brush 155 moves upwards until the brush 155 fa, contacts the blocks 154, thereby closing a circuit, which is not shown, for high intensity current.
When switch 8 is closed, the contact lever 13 engages with contact 15, closing a circuit for relay 57 which can be traced from battery 14, lead 98, 106, 108, contact 119 of 1 " Trigger electro 34, conductor 99, an armature and its rest contact of an electromagnet which will be discussed later, conductors 100, 101, contact lever 13 and 15, contact 161 and right armature of relay 39 , conductor 10, contact 102, conductor 103, left winding of relay 57, conductor 104 to battery 14.
Relay 57 when energized draws its ari atures and closes contact 73 to its working armature, thereby closing a circuit through the windings of relay 59 in the substation and relay 87 in the control station. This circuit can be traced from battery 14, conductor 98, contact 73, conductor 107, winding of relay 59, winding of relay 87, right rest contact of relay 140, battery 143, lower contact and lower armature of relay 89, conductor from line 6 to bat terie 14.
The relay 59 while excited attracts its two reinforcements. At its right armature it opens contact 92, thus disconnecting through line conductor 7 every other substation such as C from central station 4. Then no signal can be transmitted from any station until station B has completed its cycle and relay 59 is de-energized again as explained below. For the same purpose, if signals are to be sent to station C, relay 60 is energized through line conductor 7. This relay, attracting its mature rear, opens contact 74 so that no indication is given. can be transmitted from station B until relay 60 releases.
By attracting its left armature, the relay 59 makes contact at 75. A resistor not shown is associated with the contact 75 to start the motor 27 by the current supplied by the battery 14. Later this starting resistor is put out of service. and the full potential of the battery is applied to the motor.
The motor 27 rotates a shaft 26 on which square gear wheels 28 are frictionally mounted. These gear wheels engage with the right angle gear wheels 29 which in turn turn the auxiliary shafts 30 and 31. On the shaft 26 and associated with the auxiliary shafts, cams 49 and 50 are arranged. designed to activate contacts 53 and 54.
As the shaft 26 rotates, the cam 49 closes the contact 53, activating the triggering electro 34 in a circuit of the battery 14, conductors 98,106,108, contact 119, conductor 99, rest contact and one of the armatures of right of the release solenoid associated with the shaft 31, conductors 100, 101, contact lever 13 and 15, right rest contact 161 and right armature of the relay 39, conductor 10, contact 102, conductor 103 , contact 53, winding of the triggering solenoid 34, contact 111, conductors 109, 104 to battery 14.
When energized, the electro 34 attracts the latch 35 allowing, by releasing the latch from one of the heels of a keyed disc on the shaft 30, this shaft 30 to rotate. Electro 34 by attracting its right armatures closes blocking circuits for itself and relay 57, and by opening contact 119 puts out of service the devices associated with the other auxiliary trees.
The blocking circuit for the electro 34 can. be traced from battery 14, conductors 104, 109, contact 111, winding of electro 34, contact 114, one of the right armatures of electro 34, conductors 108, 106, 98 to battery 14 When the shaft 30 rotates, the cam 47 operates its associated contact levers to send back to the central station 11 a series of control pulses and at the end of this operation it leaves the contact 112 open or closed depending on the condition. position occupied by the switch.
The pulsations alternately excite and de-energize relay 85, fig. 1, which in turn energizes and de-energizes relay 84. Relay 84, being a pole-reversing relay, prints pulses of an opposite polarity from battery 93 to selector 61 to move its contact lever 62 step by step. on one of the contacts 80, 81, 82 or 83 to energize the control relays 63, 64, 65 or 66 with a current of a polarity determined according to the condition of the relay 84 at the end of a series of im impulses, that is to say according to the excitation or de-excitation of this relay. These control relays being of the polarized type, operate in accordance with the polarity of the current flowing through their windings to determine the ignition of the annunciator lamp 67, etc.
When the cam is operative in. halfway through, the last pulse sent is longer than the previous pulse. This causes relay 84 to remain in the operating position long enough to ensure that current with the requested polarity is passed through the winding of the selected lamp control relay 63, 64, 65, or 66. By this arrangement, a single selector 61 is needed for controlling the ignition of the warning lamps. When the cam is operative in the other half of its travel, the long interruption allows relay 84 to de-energize, and consequently the current of opposite polarity passes through the selected lamp control relay.
With the conditions shown in the drawings, shaft 30 rotates, so that cam 47 operates its associated contact levers, which in turn ultimately operate relay 85 through a circuit which can be traced battery 14, conductors 98, 106, contact 112, conductor 105, line conductor 5, relay 85, right armature of relay 87, right armature and working contact of relay 140, conductor 144, battery 143, lower contact and lower armature of relay 89, line conductor 6 to battery 14. Relay 85 alternately energized and de-energized in this way, energizes and de-energizes relay 84 in turn in a circuit going from battery 143, conductor 144 , left make contact and relay armature .85, relay 84 to battery 143.
The relay 84 by operating alternately reverses the polarity of the current of the battery 93 to operate the selector 61 through the conductors 77 and 78. The selector lever 62 is rotated step by step on the contacts 80 in accordance with the characteristic combination. of pulses for which the cam 47 is arranged. During the final pulse, the contact 112 remains closed longer than for the previous pulse.
As the lever 62 is turned step by step the selector lever 79 momentarily contacts the pins 90 of the selector disk, the contact time is too short to allow the slow motion relay 141 to operate. When the contact lever 62 stops on contact 80, the selector lever 79 remains in contact with one of the selector disc pins 90 for an interval of time long enough to operate the relay 141 in the following circuit: Battery 93, upper armature of relay 84, conductor 78, relay 141, lever 79, contact lever 62, conductor 77, lower armature of relay 84 to battery 93.
When operating relay 141 closes contact 95 which in turn closes a circuit of battery 93, upper armature of relay 84, conductor 78, contact 95, relay 63, contact 80, lever 62, conductor 77, lower armature of relay 84 to battery 93. Since the polarity of the current is maintaining the opposite of that which energized relay 63 in the previous operation of switch 8, this relay is energized again, thereby reversing the contacts controlling the nonciating lamps. so that the lamp 67 is on and the lamp 68 is short-circuited.
When the shaft 30 has completed a quarter of a turn, the cam 46 reaches a position where a contact is closed at 113 and interrupted at 102. By this the circuits associated with the contacts actuated by the switch 8 are prepared to operate again by opening switch 8.
When the series of pulses sent by the cam 47 is completed, the shaft 30 has rotated sufficiently to cause the cam 48 to activate its associated contact lever to open the contact 111. By this the excitation circuit of the The release valve 34 is interrupted and the latch 35 can engage with one of the heels 36 thereby causing the stopping of the shaft 30. By releasing the electro 34 opens the contacts 114 and 120 and closes the contact 119. The opening of the contact 114 opens the blocking circuit of the electro 34 at another point, while the contact 120 opens the blocking circuit of the relay 57.
By closing contact 119, the installation is prepared for the operation of the other high-current switch 9 or of other devices present in station B.
When de-energized, relay 57 releases its armatures, opening circuit contact 73 through relay 59- in station B and relay 87 in. station A. The two mature arches of relay 59 release when the latter is de-energized. The left armature opens contact 75, drawing current away from motor 27, which stops. At its right armature, relay 59 closes current 92, thereby completing a circuit to control station A of any one of the substations, for example C through line conductor 7.
Relay 87, when it is de-energized, closes contact 86 by its left armature, preparing the circuit for the next operation of impulse wheel 88. At its right armature, the excitation circuit of relay 85 is interrupted. Relay 85 in turn opens, whereby the drive circuit of relay 84 is disconnected. The armatures of the relay 84 return to their rest positions, causing the sending of a pulse of the battery 93 through the selector 61, which releases its lever 62, and returns to its normal position. The excitation circuit of relay 141 is interrupted by lever 79, by disengaging from pin 90 of the disc. The excitation circuit of relay 63 being open at the selector is also interrupted at contact 95 of relay 141.
Since the relay 63 is of the polarized type as mentioned above, it remains in its operating position when the excitation current is removed and therefore there is no change in the circuits of the warning lamps.
The entire installation is then prepared for the next operation, either from a remote station or from the control station and in particular the operation, when switch 8 is open; is done as it has already been indicated. A series of similar operations occurs if the other high current switch 9 is operated.
In installations of this kind, an arrangement should be provided whereby the operator of the control station can check the position of the devices in the various remote stations, to ensure that the indications given to the central station are correct. . In the installation described here, the verification takes place using the arrangement shown in fig. 2, consisting in the addition of auxiliary contacts to the contacts associated with high current switches, etc. by reversing the connections to said contacts. This produces the same effect as if the conditions of the contacts placed at the switches themselves were changed.
More specifically, the arrangement shown in the drawing includes a selector 37 in addition to selector 148. This additional selector is not needed if selector 148 has a contact not used for other purposes. The selector 37 controls a slow release relay 38 which in turn controls the pole change relays 39 and 40. The contacts of the pole change relays are inserted into the circuit between the contacts associated with the switches and the associated contacts. with the first disc of the auxiliary shafts corresponding to the high current switches.
This arrangement works as follows. The operator of the central station causes the rotation of a pulse wheel similar to wheel 88 of FIG. 1, but having teeth arranged to transmit a different combination of pulses. In the same way as described above for the selector 148, the pulses activate the selector 37 to turn the contact lever 96 step by step towards the contact button 97.
Considering that the impulse wheel arranged to transmit the pulses of the combination necessary to advance a selector 37 to the contact button 97 does not transmit any pulses of the combination necessary to cause the stop of the selector 148 in one of its actual positions, the selector 148 will not be actuated so as to rest on one of the contacts 149 indicated. The following manner in which the selectors respond to the received pulses is described in British patent 117170 mentioned above. When the contact lever 96 arrives at the contact button 97 a circuit is closed, from the battery 14 through the conductors 137, 138, 76, lever 89 'and selector contact disc, contact lever 96, contact 97, winding of relay 38, conductors 91, 98 to battery 14.
Relay 38 energizes and attracts the two armatures, the left armature closing contact 156 and the right arm closing contact 157. At 157, a circuit is closed which energizes the pole change relays 39 in parallel. and 40. This circuit can be traced from battery 14, through conductors 137, 138, right armature of relay 38, contact 157, conductor 139 in parallel through the windings of relays 39 and 40, conductors 123, 91, 98 to battery 14. Contact 156 prepares a blocking circuit for relay 38.
It can be seen that when the relay operates and attracts the two armatures, the contacts 159 and 161 are open and the contacts 158 and 160 are closed, which is in effect the same as if the contact 16 were open and the contact 15 closed, what happens if the high current switch 8 is operated.
A description of what takes place in this case has been given above. However, it must be remembered that the shaft 30 rotated from the activation of the tripping electro 34 and that the contact 119 was open at the same time, by switching off the devices associated with the other switches etc., until the shaft 30 has completed half a turn. Likewise, it must be remembered that relay 57 was energized.
When relay 57 energizes contact 162 closes a blocking circuit for relay 38 through a circuit which can be traced from battery 14, through conductors 98, 91, winding of relay 38, contact 156 , left armature of relay 38, conductor 147, contact <B> 162 </B> of relay 57, conductors 124, 137 to battery 14. This is necessary since lever 96 of selector 37 remains on contact 97 only as long as necessary to allow the above operations to be carried out.
After the completion of the operations relating to the operation of the relay 39, an indication is given to the control station and the shaft 30 is stopped as described above. Contact 119 is closed again and a series of operations similar to that which has just been described is carried out in connection with high current switch 9, since relay 40 is already energized.
It should be noted that the relay 38 is a slow release relay and this is necessary to take account of the somewhat delayed action of the triggering solenoid 34, etc., and also to take account of a possible opening of the trigger. contact 16. \ 3 of relay 57 when the action is transferred from one group of devices to the next group of devices.
When the operations commanded by relay 40 are completed, relay 57 de-energizes and opens the blocking circuit of relay 38 which in turn releases. This causes relays 39 and 40 to loosen so that the relationship between the contacts associated with high current switches etc. and those associated with disks 46 and 45 are reversed again. This causes the beginning of the analogous series of operations and after the completion of this second series the discs 46 etc. return to the occupied position prior to the verification operation.
So it goes without saying that if the warning lamps show the correct indication, these when the verification key is operated change to give an opposite indication and then change again to give the original indication. On the other hand, if the lamps do not first show the correct indication, they do not change with the first operation but with the second.
