Description
Process for the production of a pebble dye. It has been found that a new vat dye is obtained if the green, grayish-black coloring 2. 3. 2 '. 3'- Bisnaphththionaphtheni.ndigo (compare German Patent No. 240118 and Liebigs Annalen 3-88, p. 18) treated with chlorinating agents. The chlorination can be carried out by the methods customary in industry, such as, for example, with chlorine or chlorine-releasing agents in nitrobenzene, chlorobenzene, sulfuric acid, etc.
The dye obtained in this way forms a dark blue. colored powder that dissolves in monohydrate with an olive green color and in nitrobenzene with a red color. With hydrosulphite and caustic soda, the dye obtained in this way gives a brown pulp, from which cotton is dyed in chlorine- and stomach-proof blue tones.
<I> Example: </I> 40 parts of the 2. 3. 2 'manufactured according to German patent no. 240118. 3'-Bis-naphththionaphthenindigos are balled with 400 ″ parts of chlorobenzene for 24 hours and then stirred with a further 400 parts of chlorobenzene. Then 30 parts of sulfuryl chloride are added dropwise at 40.degree. C. and the mixture is heated to 70.degree. C. for 2 hours, then to 120.degree. To 130.degree. C. until the development of hydrochloric acid has ended. It is allowed to cool and filtered; the residue is stirred with water and made alkaline with soda.
The chlorobenzene still present is blown off with steam. It is then filtered and dried.
