Abstract
L'invention porte sur une cellule électrolytique pour la production de métaux des terres rares. La cellule électrolytique comprend une enceinte de cellule dotée d'un ou plusieurs canaux inclinés disposés dans un fond de l'enceinte de la cellule, le long duquel ou desquels canaux des métaux des terres rares en fusion produits dans la cellule électrolytique peuvent s'égoutter. Une ou plusieurs cathodes sont suspendus à l'intérieur de l'enceinte de cellule suivant un alignement sensiblement vertical avec ledit ou lesdits canaux. Les surfaces opposées respectives de ladite ou desdites cathodes sont inclinées vers le bas et vers l'extérieur en biais par rapport à la verticale. Une ou plusieurs paires d'anodes sont suspendues à l'intérieur de l'enceinte de cellule ; chaque anode de ladite ou desdites paires a une face en regard inclinée par rapport à la verticale et à distance suivant un alignement parallèle avec les surfaces inclinées opposées respectives de ladite ou desdites cathodes pour délimiter une distance anode-cathode pratiquement constante entre elles. La cellule électrolytique comprend également un puisard destiné à recevoir des métaux des terres rares en fusion provenant du canal, le puisard étant à distance et isolé de ladite ou desdites cathodes et de ladite ou desdites anodes. La séparation des métaux des terres rares en fusion de ladite ou desdites cathodes et de ladite ou desdites anodes empêche la réaction et/ou la contamination avec du carbone fugitif provenant de ladite ou desdites anodes ou une contre-réaction avec des dégagements gazeux.
