Abstract

En un método para reducir una materia prima solida (110) , tal como un compuesto de metal solido, se dispone materia prima sobre superficies superiores de elementos (60, 80, 81) en el apilamiento bipolar de celda contenido dentro de un alojamiento (25). Se hace circular un electrolito sal fundida a través del alojamiento de manera tal que entra en contacto con los elementos del apilamiento bipolar y con la materia prima. Se aplica un potencial eléctrico a electrodos terminales (50,60) del apilamiento bipolar, de manera tal que las superficies superiores de los elementos se vuelven catodicas y las superficies inferiores de los elementos se vuelven anodicas. El potencial eléctrico aplicado es suficiente para causar la reduccion de la materia prima. La solicitud también provee un aparato para implementar el método.
