Abstract

Procédé comprenant une étape dans laquelle on trempe la pièce d'acier dans un bain à base d'aluminium dont la composition et la température moyenne d'une part, la température d'immersion de la pièce d'autre part, sont adaptées pour obtenir, dans la zone d'immersion de la pièce, une température et une composition locales de bain permettant un équilibre avec la phase solide dite .theta.~FeAl3. On trempe ainsi à une température supérieure aux températures usuelles et on obtient pourtant un revêtement présentant à l'interface avec l'acier une couche d'alliage de plus faible épaisseur que dans l'art antérieur. Le revêtement obtenu résiste mieux à la mise en forme et à la corrosion.
