Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the molten Al resistance of a Fe group metal body by dipping the body in molten Al (alloy) kept at a specific temp. to form a Fe-Al alloy layer and a sticked Al layer, and then oxidizing the Al layer to an Al2O3 layer at a high temp. CONSTITUTION:A Fe group metal body is dipped in molten Al (alloy) kept at 650-950 deg.C to form a 10-200mu thick Fe-Al alloy layer and a 5--500mu thick sticked Al layer. The body covered with the layers are then allowed to cool in air, solidified, heated usually to around 850-1000 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere to convert the Al layer into an Al2O3 layer, and cooled. Thus, the dense Al2O3 layer is firmly combined with the base metal through the alloy layer.
