Abstract

Un procédé et un dispositif de coulée continue destinée à
l'obtention d'alliages métalliques thixotropes à dendrites dégénérées. Le procédé consiste à couler le métal liquide dans un moule obturé mobile et constitué d'une zone amont chaude réalisée en matériau isolant et d'une zone aval refroidie dans laquelle le métal se solidifie, tout en pratiquant à l'aide d'un champ glissant obtenu par une série d'inducteurs polyphasés un brassage électromagnétique qui fait passer les dendrites formées dans la zone froide vers la zone chaude où, par refusion superficielle, elles se transforment en nodules. L'invention s'applique en particulier à l'obtention de plaques ou de billettes d'aluminium à propriétés thixotropiques.
