Abstract
SISTEMA DE TOMOGRAFIA POR EMISSãO DE POSITRõES (PET). A presente invenção refere-se a um sistema de Tomografia por emissão de positrões (PET) dedicado a exames de partes do corpo humano tais como a mama, axila, a cabeça, o pescoço, o fígado, o coração, os pulmões, a região da próstata, e outras extremidades do corpo ou, em particular para a detecção e ao seguimento de vários tipos de câncer em diferentes regiões do corpo humano, podendo ainda ser usado para produzir imagens funcionais do interior de várias partes do corpo humano ou em corpos de pequenos animais, baseado na afinidade de moléculas específicas marcadas com um emissor de positrões, para certas regiões, órgãos, tecidos, atividades ou funções do corpo humano, caracterizado por compreender: pelo menos duas placas detecção (cabeças de detecção) com dimensões optimizadas para a mama, a região da axila, o cérebro e a região da próstata ou outras extremidades; meios mecânicos motorizados para permitir o movimento das placas sob controlo manual ou via computador permitindo a recolha de dados em diferentes orientações necessárias para a reconstrução da imagem tomográfica; um sistema eletrónico composto por um sistema eletrónico "front-end ", localizado fisicamente nas cabeças do detector, e um sistema de "trigger" e de aquisição de dados localizados fora do detector em um cesto eletrónico; um software de controlo e aquisição de dados; e um software de análise e reconstrução de imagens que permite reconstruir, visualizar e analisar os dados produzidos durante o exame.
