Trata-se de um filme laminado resinoso termoplástico transparente tendo pelo menos 10 camadas muito finas de espessura substancialmente uniforme, sendo que as ditas camadas são genericamente paralelas, sendo que as camadas adjacentes contíguas são de materiais resinosos termoplásticos transparentes diferentes dos quais um é uma resina de copolíester ou poliéster com base em naftalato, sendo que as camadas adjacentes contíguas diferem no índice refrativo em pelo menos cerca de 0,03.
