Abstract

"MéTODO PARA DETERMINAR UM TEOR DE UMIDADE DE MATERIAL DE FUMO, MéTODO PARA ANALISAR FUMO EMPACOTADO". Um método e um dispositivo que podem ser usados para medir o teor de umidade e a estrutura interna de material em um fardo de fumo, ou de um volume específico de material tal como folhas de fumo soltas, usando radiação de microondas. Uma fonte de radiação de microondas está localizada em um lado do fumo, tal como o fardo de fumo, e uma antena está localizada no lado oposto do fardo. O feixe da fonte de radiação é transmitido através de uma porção do fardo e é recebido pela antena receptora, que então produz um sinal. Este sinal é usado para determinar o teor de umidade daquela porção do fardo e da uniformidade de massa do fardo. Em adição, os métodos e dispositivos descritos aqui também podem ser usados para medir o teor de umidade de um volume a granel de folhas de fumo soltas, por exemplo à medida que estas folhas viajam através de um silo. Também, em um método para analisar a estrutura interna de fumo empacotado, a estrutura interna é analisada para detectar a presença de quaisquer objetos estranhos ou matéria em fumo empacotado, bem como para confirmar a presença de material de fumo através de todo o pacote. Os dados estruturais são coletados a partir de microondas recebidas e/ou refletidas, que também são analisadas para determinar o teor de umidade. Os dados estruturais brutos são então analisados com algoritmos de detecção, classificação, e/ou decisão para análise dos dados brutos. Preferivelmente, a análise de dados é baseada em pares de atenuações e trocas de fase obtidas passando microondas em uma pluralidade de freq³ências através do pacote de fumo que apresenta matéria ou objeto estranho, coletivamente chamados "componentes estranhos" e/ou não uniformidades. Este método único permite o alcance de altos níveis de exatidão e precisão na detecção e classificação da amostra, em geral, e dos componentes estranhos e/ou não uniformidades, em particular.
