Abstract

Patente de Invenção:<B>"MéTODOS E COMPOSIçõES PARA MODIFICAçãO DOS NìVEIS DE COMPOSTOS METABóLICOS SECUNDáRIOS EM PLANTAS"<D>. A presente invenção proporciona um método de fabricação de uma planta geneticamente transformada a qual possui um teor alterado de pelo menos um produto de uma via metabólica secundária. O método consiste de introdução em uma célula de planta capaz de ser transformada e regenerada em uma planta inteira de um cassete de expressão de DNA. O cassete de expressão de DNA inclui seq³ências de DNA requeridas para transformação e seleção em células de plantas. Ele também inclui uma seq³ência de DNA que, sob o controle de um promotor ativo em células de plantas, codifica uma proteina capaz de modificar a utilização de um substrato em uma via metabólica secundária. O substrato não é um metabólito primário do grupo selecionado de glicose, aminoácidos, ácidos graxos comuns e nucleotídeos. Uma planta ou tecidos de plantas incluindo sementes pode, então, ser recuperada tendo um teor alterado de pelo menos um produto da via metabólica secundária. A invenção também proporciona produtos alimentícios derivados das plantas e sementes obtidas de acordo com o método.
