A invenção refere-se a um processo para a preparação de ácido D-pantotênico através de fermentação de microorganismos onde pelo menos o gene panD é amplificado (superexpresso), opcionalmente em combinação com o gene panB e/ou panC, e enriquecimento do ácido pantotênico no meio ou nas células dos microorganismos.
