Um derivado de piperazinodiona de fórmula (I): na qual R^ 1^é (i) um grupo no qual p é 0 ou 2; cada um de R~ a~ a R~ e~, que podem ser iguais ou diferentes, é independentemente selecionado de hidrogênio, C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alquila não-substituída ou substituída com um ou mais átomos de halogênio, C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alquenila, C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alcoxila, C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alquil-tio, halogênio, hidroxila, nitro, fenila opcionalmente substituída, ciano, -CH2OH, -CH2COOH, -CO2R^ 11^, -NRCOR^ 11^, -NHSOR^ 13^, -SO2R^ 13^, -COn(R^ 11^R^ 12^), -SOR^ 13^, - SO2)n(R^ 11^R^ 12^), -O(CH2)n(R^ 11^R^ 12^), -O(CH2)nCO2R^ 11^, -OCOR^ 11^, -CH2OCOR^ 11^, -CH2)nHCOR^ 11^, -CH2)nHCOOR^ 13^, -CH2SR^ 11^, -CH2SCOR^ 11^, -CH2S (O)mR^ 13^, em que m é 1 ou 2, -CH2)nHCO(CH2)nCO2R^ 11^, -N(R^ 11^)COR^ 12^, -NHCOCF3, - NHCO(CH2)nCO2R^ 11^. -NHCO(CH2)nOCOR^ 11^e -NHCO(CH2)n(CO2R^ 11^; na qual n é 0 ou é um número inteiro de 1 a 6, cada um de R^ 11^ e R^ 12^ é independentemente selecionado de H ou C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alquila e R^ 13^ é C~ 1~-C~6~-alquila; ou qualquer um de R~ a~ e R~ b~, R~ b~ e R~ c~ e R~ d~ e ou R~ d~ e R~ e~ juntos formam um grupo metileno-dioxila, ou formam juntos com os átomos de carbono nos quais estão ligados um anel benzeno que está opcionalmente substituído; (ii) um grupo heterocíclico de 5 ou 6 membros contendo pelo menos um heteroátomo selecionado de ), N e S, cujo grupo pode estar fundido em um sal benzeno; (iii) um grupo C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alquila ou C~ 5~-C~ 7~-ciclo-alquila; ou (iv) um grupo C~ 5~-C~ 7~-ciclo-alquenila que está não-substituído ou substituído com uma C~ 2~-C~6~-alquenila; R^ 2^ é H, C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alquila opcionalmente substituída com um grupo -N(R^ 11^R^ 12^) como definido acima, C~ 3~-C~ 6~-ciclo-alquila, C~ 2~-C~ 6~-alquenila, -COOR^ 11^ no qual R^ 11^ é como o definido acima ou um grupo fenila como definido sob (i) acima, mais é diferente de H quando R^ 1^ for fenila não-substituída; e um de R^ 3^ e R^ 4^ é hidrogênio e o outro é um grupo de fórmula (A); na qual q é um número inteiro de 1 a 4, r é 0 ou 1 e R^ 5^ e R^ 6^, que podem ser iguais ou diferentes, são cada um H ou C~ 1~-C~ 6~-alcoxila, ou R^ 5^ e R^ 6^ juntos formam um grupo metileno-dioxila; e <sym> é uma ligação dupla ou, se R^ 1^ for como o definido sob (i) acima, é ima ligação dupla ou uma ligação simples; ou um seu sal farmaceuticamente aceitável.
