Abstract
The invention relates to piperazine derivatives having theformulawhere R1 is (I) groupwhere p has the value of 0 or 2; each of Ra to Re can be the sameor different and is individually selected from hydrogen, C1-C6alkyl, unsubstituted or substituted by one or more halogen atoms,C2-C6 alkenyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, C1-C6 alkylthio, halogen, nitro,optionally substituted phenyl, cyano, -CH2OH, -CH2COOH, -CO2R11, -NHCOR11, -NHSO2R13, -SO2R13, -CON(R11R12), -SOR13, -SO2N(R11R12),N(R11R12), -O(CH2)nN(R11R12), -O(CH2)nCO2R11, -OCOR11, -CH2OCOR11,-CH2NHCOR11, -CH2NHCOOR13, -CH2SR11, -CH2SOR11, -CH2S(0)mR13 wherem has the value of 1 or 2, -CH2NHCO(CH2)nOCO2R11, N(R11)COR12,-NHCOCF3, -NHCO(CH2)nCO2R11, -NHCO(CO2)nOCOR11 andNHCO(CH2)nCO2R11, where n has the value from 1 to 6, every one ofR11 and R12 is separately hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl and R13 is C1-C6alkyl; or each of Ra an Rb, Rb and Rc, Rc and Rd and Rd and Retogether form methyleneoxygroup or together with carbon atoms towhich they are bound form a benzyl nucleus which optionally issubstituted; (II) 5- or 6-member heterocyclic group containing atleast one heteroatom selected from O,N and S which group can bebound by benzene nucleus; (III) C1-C6 alkyl group or C5-C7cycloalkyl group; or (IV) C5-C7 cycloalkanyl which isunsubstituted or substituted by C2-C6 alkenyl; R2 meaning H, C1-C6alkyl, optionally substituted by group -N(R11R12) as definedabove, C3-C6 cycloalkyl, C2-C6 alkenyl, -COOR11 where R11 isdefined above, or phenyl group (I) but different from hydrogenwhen R1 is unsubstituted phenyl; and one of R3 and R4 is hydrogenand the other is a group with formulawhere q has the value from 1 to 4, r is 0 or 1, and R5 & R6 whichcan be the same or different are each hydrogen or C1-C6 alkoxy orR5 & R6 togehter form methyleneoxygroup; and ---- is double bondor when R1 is defined as (I), being double or single bond; or to apharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, as modulator ofpolymedicamentous resistence.
