<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to a method of manufacturing flanges with tubular connection in one part. Until now, parts of this kind consisted of two separately manufactured parts, namely a stamped plate forming the connecting flange and a tubular section, then assembled together by continuous welding. This assembly has the drawback that the weld joint is located at the place where the greatest forces are exerted, so that there is the danger that cracks can easily form in this place.
It is also not possible to combine the separate parts, mentioned, to each other by butt welding, because the differences in section between the flange, on the one hand, and the connecting tube, on the other hand, are too big
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The invention aims to create a new process, to. with the help of which it is possible to manufacture flanges with tubular coupling in one part, thereby eliminating the mentioned disadvantages. In accordance with the invention, the flange and the tubular appendage are made in one piece by cold stamping.
A part of this type present in the main zone where the forces are exerted, namely at the point of passage between the flange and the tubular connecting sleeve, a closed shape of the fibers, which gives resistance properties very favorable, in particular a great resistance *, Oscillation.
Another advantage lies in the fact that the tubular appendage of the flange can be assembled by butt welding to the pipe itself, given that the two parts have the same section. The weld joint produced during this assembly is also located outside the main area of the flange subjected to the action of forces.
The drawing an @ exé shows schematically, by way of non-limiting example, the various working phases for the cold stamping of a flange with the tubular appendage according to the invention. the. RESULTS.
The objects of the invention are:
1.- A process for manufacturing a flange of a duct with a steel connection sleeve, remarkable in particular by the following characteristics, considered separately or in combination: a) We start with a blank having the shape of a disc which is first of all cold-formed in successive pressing phases into an intermediate shell-shaped piece and the latter is then cold-formed to take the desired final shape. b) The connecting sleeve of the duct flange is formed by stamping.
2.- A pressing tool for the cold shaping of a steel disc, with a view to obtaining a pre-formed part in the form of a shell for the manufacture of a duct flange with connecting sleeve, according to the process of the preceding paragraphs, characterized by a stepped hollow die and an appendage punch guided in the upper part of the die, taken a second die having a channel and a second punch guided in the upper part of this second die and having an appendage forming perforation pin.
