<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

The present invention is subject to an agricultural machine intended to serve as a sower and / or fertilizer spreader.
More specifically, the invention :: for object a machine of the type in which the material to be planted or to be distributed is brought, by means of a device:; liman tation, from a reserve to a dispensing device from which it is evacuated to a certain number of orifices or ducts arranged in a circle, each leading to a separate seeder or planter.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a simplified and inexpensive machine of the type mentioned and to reduce the number of parts thereof to a minimum.
Another object is to provide a machine by means of which all types of seeds or grains can be cut with similar uniformity and accuracy, in a predetermined quantity which can be adjusted at will, and by means of which can be 'sown or spread simultaneously' two different types of seed, or seed and fertilizer, by means of a single common feeder
According to the invention, there is provided an agricultural machine intended to serve as a sower and / or fertilizer spreader, remarkable in particular in that the feed device comprises a rotating body in the form of a bowl, of generally conical configuration,
having a portion of its bottom and a portion of the wall diverging outwardly, the body being mounted so as to be able to turn around a vertical exe inside a seed container, its portion inferior

being immersed in the semen contained in the reservoir. and its upper peripheral edge being at the same level as a number of orifices arranged in a circle, the rotating body having, in its bottom, at least one opening, preferably adjustable, through which the seed is brought inside of said body.
To better understand the invention, and to see how it can be put into practice, reference will now be made to the accompanying drawings, given solely by way of example, in which: FIG. 1 is an axial vertical section of the reservoir seed of a machine according to the invention; - Figure 2 is a plan view, in section, along the line II-II of Figure 1; - Figure 3 is a side elevation of the machine with some parts removed, and - Figure 4 is a perspective view of the machine support frame.
Following the example of Figures 1 and 2, the seed container comprises a cylindrical upper portion 1, which is connected, by an annular intermediate part 2, to a conical or funnel-shaped lower portion 1 ', which has a support sleeve 3 directed downwards.
In this support sleeve 3, in the axial direction, a hollow shaft 4 is supported axially and can rotate, this shaft carrying on its upper end a rotating bowl body 5 open at the top. This body may have a generally conical or parabolic configuration, having a bottom portion and a portion thereof diverging outwardly and defining a cavity. --- - -
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the mounted position, this rotary body, which can form a body with the hollow shaft 4 or be fixed thereto, has its axis directed vertically, and its bottom port spaced from the bottom of the tank, so that this portion is immersed in the semen contained in the reservoir.
At the level of the upper peripheral edge of the rotating body 5 the intermediate part 2 of the seed container is provided with a number of orifices or ducts 8, which can be distributed uniformly around the circumference of the portion 2, each of these ducts communicating with a tubular outer element 9. '
In the bottom portion of the rotary body 5, there is provided at least one opening 10 communicating with the bottom portion 1 of the reservoir.
In order to adjust the free surface of the opening 10, a rotating closing element 11 has been arranged, having the shape of an inverted and short hollow cone, surrounding the lower portion of the rotating body 5, and provided with at least an opening 11 cooperating with the opening 10 so that these openings 10 and 11 coincide in a certain position of the cone 11 with respect to the body 5. When the cone 11 is rotated around the body 5, it is possible reduce the area of the opening 10, because the wall portion of the cone, adjacent to the end of the opening 11 therein, crumbles. place to cover the opening 10 to an extent which depends on the angular displacement of the cone.
The closure element 11 is integral with or is fixed on the end of a hollow shaft 12 which is coaxial with the shaft 4 of the rotary body 5 and can rotate on this shaft 4, and it is supported in this way. to be able to turn, thanks to a

mar.chon 13 and ball bearings 14, in the support sleeve 3 of the seed container.
On the lower end of the hollow shaft 12 of the closing element is fixed a grooved pulley 15, which has on its lower face a friction surface 16 cooperating with a corresponding friction surface 17. a disc-shaped locking member 18, mounted so as to be able to move axially but not to be able to turn, on the hollow shaft 4 of the rotary body 5. A clamping nut 19, screwed onto the lower end of the the shaft 4, serves to push the blocking element against the pulley 15, and consequently, to engage the fraction surfaces 16 and 17 against each other, so as to prevent any relative movement between the hollow shafts 4 and 12.
In order to adjust the closure element 11, the nut 19 is loosened and the pulley 15 and the element 11 are angularly displaced with respect to each other. A coil spring 20, interposed between the pulley 15 and the element 18, serves to separate these elements when the nut 19 is loosened, as will be easily understood.
When the rotating body 5 is rotated at a suitable speed, the seed or grain flows, through the opening 10, into the lower part of the body, and as a result of the centrifugal force the seed rises, along the divergent wall of the rotating body, and it is expelled from the body, in centrifugal airection, and launched into the respective openings or conduits 8. The seeds which do not exit through these openings 8 fall to the bottom of the tank 1 and are again led into the rotating body, through the opening 10 of the latter. In order to guide this seed during its return, a funnel-shaped partition 21 is fixed to the intermediate piece.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
diary 2 of the tank. This partition also serves to limit the flow of seed to the rotating body 5.
.. One can regulate exactly the quantity of seed which is thrown, in this way, in the orifices or conduits 8 by simply adjusting the free surface of the opening 10. The semen, expelled in a centrifugal direction out. of the body 5, is evenly distributed over the entire peripheral edge thereof, and consequently a uniform and equal outlet is obtained through the respective ducts 8
In order to maintain a uniform seed distribution on the peripheral edge of the rotating body, even in the case where the axis of rotation of the rotating body 5 has a considerable inclination to the vertical, the body may be provided on its inner surface. - re, of a number of radial fins 22, starting from the upper edge of the body, and at an appropriate distance from the bottom thereof.
These fins 22 are curved in the longitudinal direction, against the direction of rotation of the body 5.
By this arrangement, the seed brought into the body 5 is distributed uniformly by the action of the free part of the wall of the body, below the lower ends of the fins 22, and, with this distribution, it rises between these fins, guided by these, and it is expelled, by the centrifugal force, at the upper edge, as indicated above. Thus, the fins 22 maintain a uniform initial distribution over the entire height of the rotating body, even if the axis thereof is considerably inclined from the vertical.
In order to allow simultaneous distribution

The second reservoir 23 is provided with an outlet, in the form of a sleeve 25, the axis of which coincides with the axis of the body 5. This outlet is normally closed by an element forming a cylindrical valve or head 26, which therein. housing so as to be able to slide and which is mounted on the upper end of a shaft 27, supported in such a way as to be able to slide and turn in the hollow shaft 4 of the rotating body 5. At the lower end. higher, which projects out of the shaft 4, the shaft 27 is provided with a pin 28 which projects radially and which passes through a helical slot 29 formed in a substantially semi-circular cover 30, fixed to the locking element 18.
A nut 31, screwed onto the end of the pin 28 coming out of the cover 30, serves to retain the pin 28 in its adjusted position, in the slot 29. By this arrangement, the shaft 27, provided with the head 26 , is normally locked with the rotating body 5 and rotates with it.
The cylindrical closure head 26 is provided with a number of notches 32 distributed around a circumference and starting from the upper end to go almost to the lower end of the head, so that at the end lower part of the head, as seen, there remains a short, unbroken peripheral surface. Each of the aforementioned notches is

mitred by a surface 12 which coincides with an axial plane and by an inclined or curved surface 32perpendicular to this plane, so that the notches have a cross section whose surface grows upwards.
In the closed position, the head 26 protrudes into the outlet sleeve 25 to such an extent that its cylindrical lower portion engages in the mouth of the sleeve, which thus covers the notches 32.
In order to adjust the quantity of seed or fertilizer supplied from the second reservoir 23, the head 26 is axially displaced with respect to the sleeve 25 in order to reveal a more or less large part of the notches 32.
This is achieved by means of the radial pin 28 which: when the nut 31 has been loosened, can move angularly in the slot 29. During this movement, the pin and the shaft 27 connected to it, s 'raise or lower depending on the direction of movement, thanks to the pa.s of the slot 29.
A cup disc 33 is attached to the lower end of the closing head 26, and when the planter and hence the rotation of the rotating body 5 stops, this disc serves to prevent the material or seed from seeding. empty through the notches 32 in the event that these are more or less uncovered so that this seed or this material accumulates on this disc and opposes a barrier to any new flow from the tank 23. When the disc 33 rotates at the same time as the head 36 the seed accumulated thereon is expelled, as soon as the body resumes its rotation, so that the normal exit through the notches 32 is restored.

The second reservoir 23 can be used to contain fertilizer, or a seed of a different type from that contained in the reservoir 1 so that it is possible to spread or sow simultaneously, by means of the rotating body 5, of seed and fertilizer, or seeds of two different types.
When it comes to sowing a small amount of seed, only a second reservoir 23 is used, the opening 10 of the rotating body 5 being closed.
Thus, all of the seed can be removed from the second reservoir without any residue.
The seed tank is supported by a frame forming structure made for attachment to a tractor, and which can be pivotally connected to the pivoting attachment arms, so as to extend rearward.
The aforesaid frame comprises a transverse tube 35 constituting the main element of the supporting structure, and which carries laterally spaced fasteners 36, directed forward and carrying tenons 37 on which the ends of the lifting arms can pivot. traction, lower (not shown). A tube stirrup'30, the free ends of which are fixed to the fasteners 36 rises more or less vertically and its transverse portion carries tabs 39 provided with an opening 39 intended to accommodate a pivot to which can be connected the upper and single arm of the hitch.
In the middle of the type 35 are fixed laterally spaced arms 40, inclined forward and downward, and serving to support a load wheel 41 by means of a journal 40 '.

A similar upper strut 42 is attached to the transverse portion of the yoke, said struts converging rearwardly and their rear ends carrying a split adapter sleeve 43 the axis of which is in a vertical direction. This sleeve 43 is made to receive the support sleeve 3 of the lower end of the seed container, and on each side of the slot it is provided with pierced ears 44 for a tightening screw 45.
An arm 46, the ends of which are respectively fixed to the tube 35, and to the transverse portion of the caliper, serves to support a bearing 47 carrying a journal 48 on which is supported, in a rotatable manner, a grooved pulley 49 To this pulley 49 is fixed a toothed wheel, 50, which, thanks to a chain 51, is controlled by a toothed wheel 52 fixed to the carrying wheel 41, so that, when the latter rolls on the ground, the pulley 49 is ordered in the same direction. A V-belt 53 connects the pulley 49 to the pulley 15 of the shaft 12, and the part of the belt which passes over the pulley 15 is guided by a roller 55 pivotally mounted on an arm 45 attached to the pulley. upper strut 42.
The cross tube 35 also carries laterally spaced clips 56, extending rearwardly, and serving to support a shaft 57 parallel to the tube. On this shaft are supported an appropriate number of seeders or planters 58, provided with guiding funnels 59 which receive the lower ends of flexible tubes 60 leading to the respective tubular elements 9 fixed to the intermediate portion 2 of the tank. see to seed, as shown.
Each dibble 58 with the associated funnel 59 is fixed to a support element 61 to which is fixed,

pivoting, one end of the upper and lower arms 62 and 63 respectively. The other ends of the upper arms 62 are fixed so as to be able to pivot on the shaft 57, while the other extremities. The tees of the lower arms 63 are fixed, so as to pivot, on a shaft 64 parallel to the shaft 57 and passing freely through the connecting rods 63 of all the support members, only one of which is shown in FIG. 4.
On each of the shafts 57 and 64 are supported, so as to be able to rotate, between the ends of the connecting rods fixed to these shafts, spacing sleeves
65 and 66 respectively, rigidly connected to each other by an arm 67. Thus, the shaft 64 is supported by the shaft 57 by a number of arms 67 corresponding to the number of support elements 01,. can make it oscillate around the axis of the tree 57, thus adjusting the height position of the planters 58
To achieve this movement of shaft 64, a pair of laterally spaced angled levers are rotatably mounted on shaft 57, and their arms 68 are pivotally attached to shaft 64,
while their other arms 69 are pivotally connected to the lower end of a tube 70 to the upper end of which a nut 71 is fixed.
A screw 72, cooperating with this nut 71, is supported, so as to be able to turn but without being able to move, in a sleeve 73 supported in a pivoting manner, thanks to journals 74, by the upper ends of the arm 75. which start upwards from tube 35.
The screw 72 has, at its upper end, a crank handle 72 When the crank handle 72 is rotated, it is possible to rotate angularly.

disregard the angled lever 68, 69 on the tree 5'7, and therefore the planters can be raised or lowered 58
To push the planters elastically towards the ground, an adjustable spring 67 is fixed between the upper links 62 and the lower part of the seated arm 67 of each support element 61
