<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The present invention relates to machines for cutting wood and especially for cutting mine wood to a determined length on site.
The chainsaw according to the invention differs from known machines of the species by the robustness of its construction, as well as by the ease and safety of its operation.
It essentially comprises a metal frame or frame pivotally mounted on a frame and carrying at one of its ends an electric control motor, the rotational movement of which is transmitted to a circular tang suitably mounted on a shaft.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
carried by the other end of the frame.
In combination with a chainsaw thus produced, the invention also comprises the use of V-shaped supports, which are fixed to a pole supported at a certain height above the ground in order to receive the pieces of wood to be cut. at desired length.
The drawing appended to this specification shows, by way of example only, a chainsaw in accordance with the invention. In this drawings Fig.1 is an elevational view of the chainsaw, of which Fig.2 is a plan view.
On a frame 1 formed of angles bent in the shape of an inverted U are fixed bearings 2, in which can turn a shaft 3 fixed on a metal frame 4. On one side of the shaft 3, this tiltable frame carries rails 5 in which is mounted in an adjustable position an electric motor 6 powered by oables 7 emerging from a connection box 8. The pulley 9 of this motor drives by a belt 10 surmounted by a protective plate 11 a shaft 12 carried by bearings 13 fixed under the frame 4 at the. + end opposite the motor 6. Sur'un protruding end of the shaft 12 is mounted in a cantilever manner a circular silk 14 provided with a protector 15. Handles 16 judiciously arranged allow easy operation of the maohine.
As a result of the position of the motor 6 relative to the silk 13, the tilting frame 4 is normally raised on the side of the latter, it is therefore sufficient to press the handles 16 to lower the silk in order to bring it. in contact with the piece of wood to be cut.
In order to facilitate the movement of the pieces of wood to be cut, a pole 17 is associated with the chainsaw, supported horizontally at a certain height above the ground under the saw 13 by four feet 25 embedded in said pole. On this pole are fixed, carrying divisions corresponding to the

different lengths of timber to be cut, V-shaped supports constituted by two oblique rollers 18 carried on the one hand by uprights 19 bolted to a two-piece yoke 20 embracing the pole 17 and on the other hand by a central projection 21 arranged at the above the caroano Flats 22 fixed to the frame 1 and to the caroans 20 maintain the pole 17 in the desired position.
At one end of the pole 17 is further supported by a yoke 23 a horizontal roller 24 in order to allow the sliding over its entire length of the piece of wood to be cut.
