<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The new cut-off saw which is the subject of the present invention makes it possible to eliminate these drawbacks on the one hand by providing for efficient clamping of the piece of wood to be cut and on the other hand by allowing

EMI1.3
me, ut.9 an embodiment of the new saw. In this drawing:
Fig. 1 is an elevational view, while F ig.2 gives an enlarged side view of one of the arms of the saw.
Towards one of the ends of a rectangular table 1 carried by a metal frame 2 is fixed a support 3 for an axis 4, around which can pivot the entire mobile part of the saw, namely the metal frame 8 carrying the saw itself 5 and the control motor 6, the control wheel of said tang, as well as a clamping bar 7 intended to hold the timber to steel A.
The metal frame 8 has longitudinally above the table 1 an arm 8a in which are carried .. at appropriate intervals two pivots 9, on which are mounted by means of ball bearings two aluminum arms 10 joined at their lower end. by the saw blade 5. As shown in particular in FIG. 2, this blade 5 a 'fits into a slot 11 formed in each arm 10 and it is traversed.
EMI1.4
Sée by a écroJ.1-butterfly bolt 12 being clamped between two rings 13. At their other end the arms 10 are joined by a threaded tension rod 14 also mounted on ball bearings.
Each articulation 9 of the arms 10 is provided with a lubricating member 15, furthermore the axis 9 extends on the left arm 10 to constitute an operating handle 16.
The lower part of the right arm 10 of the saw is connected by a connecting rod 17 to a plate 18 forming a chain wheel and drives by a chain 19 in the rotational movement of a corresponding wheel (not visible in the drawing) mounted on the 'axis 4 and integral with a pulley 20 receiving its movement from the electric motor 6 by a belt 28.
The motor 6 is carried in an adjustable manner on a small beam 21 surmounting the right arm 8b of the frame 8 of the saw.
On the same axis 2 can also drive the clamping bar

7, the outer end of which ends in a toothed portion 23. At its other end., The bar 7 is subjected to the action of a spring (not shown) which tends to raise it. At a given point the bar 7 is connected by a rod 24 to a pedal 25 projecting beyond the frame 2 and articulated on a suitable cross member of the latter.
On the table 1 are finally provided three metal V 22 intended to support the piece of wood to be cut, so that they are located under the toothed part 23 of the bar 7. Above the table 1 is erected a rod. adjustable height 26, which serves to limit the descent of the saw 5, following its contact with a suitable stop 27 provided under the frame 8 of the saw
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The piece of wood to be cut A being introduced into the V 22, the pedal 25 is lowered, which forces the bar 7 to clamp by its teeth 23 said piece, which is thus energetically held in place (see dotted drawing).
The motor 6 being started, the handle 16 is lowered so as to bring into contact with the part 1 the saw 5, which receives from the motor 6 its reciprocating movement by means of the arm 10 on the right, as has been explained below. -above. The descent of the saw 5 is limited by its stop 27 meeting the rod 26. It should be noted that the motor 6 acts as a counterweight to allow the saw to rise.
This new saw of simple and robust construction ensures efficient and safe work regardless of the length of the timber to be cut.
It would not be departing from the scope of the invention to make modifications to the purely constructive arrangements described which come within the scope of current technique in the art.
