PROCESS FOR PREPARING CAMPHOSULPHONIC DERIVATIVES OF ETHANOLAMINES AND AROMATIC ETHANOLALKYLAMINES AND PRODUCTS RESULTING FROM THEM.
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of camphorsulfonic derivatives of ethanolamines and of aromatic ethanol-alkylamines.
This process is remarkable in particular in that it consists in reducing the corresponding salt of a ketone.
These compounds are obtained by reducing camphosulfonic derivatives of amino-ketones by the introduction of two hydrogen atoms. This is quite unexpected, since one could have assumed that the hydrogen would bind to the ketone radical of camphosulfonic acid
This process therefore makes it possible to avoid the direct use of ethanol-amines for the preparation of their optically active camphosulfonates. There would be a risk of a partial optical decomposition of the basic products and the formation of mixtures the separation of which is very difficult.
Another advantage of the aforementioned process lies in the fact that the production and purification of camphosulfonates are obtained by ketones which are much less expensive than their reduction products.
It is possible, optionally, to operate in aqueous solution and in the presence of a catalyst.
The invention also naturally aims, as new industrial articles, at the derivative products and compounds obtained by the aforementioned process.
The sulfonates are prepared in the usual manner by causing the ethanolamines to act on the camphosulfonic acids or else by reacting the acid salts of the ethanolamines with metal camphosulfonates.
A certain number of examples of execution of the process in accordance with the invention will now be given, without however these examples limiting the scope of the latter in any way.
