<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
limiter plus exactement l'à-coup des organes de mise en position, lorsqu'ils saisissent le poisson, un guide, par exemple un disque ' circulaire peut être disposé sur chacun des arbres, pour écarter en les élevant;

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
37.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

DEVICE FOR PUTTING THE FISH IN POSITION.
This invention relates to devices for positioning fish in a preferred position in fish arranging machines; and one of the objects of the invention is to provide improved means for placing the fish longitudinally in predetermined positions. Accordingly, the invention tends to provide an improved device of this kind whereby the positioning will be effected by mechanical members which operate smoothly, and which provide a relatively rapid position bet of the fish.
Further, the invention tends to provide improved means; acting in conjunction with the positioning members, to allow the organs to arrange the fish longitudinally, relative to their gill arches.
The complete solution of the problem, according to the invention, includes each of these improvements. While each improvement has its particular utility when used in conjunction with the others, it will also be advantageously used alone, in some instances, and the invention is therefore not limited to the combination of each of them. improvements made.
Therefore, in accordance with one of the aspects of the invention, the device, when comprising a conveyor for feeding the fish sideways, is characterized in that an endless mechanism comprising, for example, a chain and a control. by pinions, and passing for example on a motor shaft and a driven shaft, and arranged above the conveyor, and directed obliquely with respect to the direction of distribution of the fish, is provided with positioning members consisting, for example , in knife-shaped hoes, and being designed so as to elastically grip the fish, for example by a ridge, said mechanism being connected to a motor device,
to actuate the positioning members along a path having a component in the direction in which the fish is brought and also, as a result of the oblique direction of the m-. canism, having a longitudinal component with respect to the fish, for moving the fish against one of the sides of the conveyor, the positioning members being, for example, connected to the mechanism by pivoting arms.
In order to
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
more exactly limit the jerk of the positioning members, when they grip the fish, a guide, for example a circular disc can be placed on each of the shafts, to move them apart while raising them;
the organs for positioning the fish, and for lowering said organs on the fish. This positioning device is suitably associated with means of limiting the longitudinal movement of the fish with respect to the position of the fish. their branchial arches, in relation to the means of preparing the fish, for example, the means of decapitation. Consequently, according to the invention, gauges placed in front of the respective positioning members, and being adapted to be elastically withdrawn from said side of the fish conveyor, there may be provided on said side of the fish conveyor and at the side of the endless mechanism, the gauges being designed to firstly counterbalance completely or partially the driving power of the positioning members ,
exerted on the body of the fish to temporarily stop or delay the longitudinal movement of the fish, until the positioning member has slid over the fish to the gill arch of the fish, and thereafter, to be removed by the thrust of the fish, exerted longitudinally by the positioning member gripping the branchial arch.
The gauges can each be arranged in a carrier member, which carrier members are mounted on a second mechanism, moved alternately by chain, this mechanism being operatively connected to the fish conveyor, to move the carrier members in the direction of distribution. fish, along the fish conveyor, for example along the pockets of the fish conveyor.
The second mechanism can be designed to move the supporting members near a guide to the point where the positioning members are moved away from the fish upwards, which guide is designed to cause these gauges to move out of contact. with the fish, by oscillation of the bottom of the carrying organ, in order to free the fish trapped between the bottom and the gauge.
In accordance with another aspect of the invention, an improved positioning device is designed to effect positioning of fish relative to their gill arches by means of a hoe or the like. , namely unrelated to the nature of the means employed to move the hoeo. Consequently, the fish is moved lengthwise, head first, against a gauge,
by a hoe or similar device, designed to slide over the body of the fish, the gauge being, according to the invention, resiliently disposed on the side opposite the hoe, to yield in the longitudinal direction of the fish, and offer resistance to the motive power exerted by the hoe, when it slides over the fish, to counterbalance, completely or partially, the motive power, until the hoe comes up against the gill arch of the fish, and then disappear under the pressure of the fish, moved lengthwise by the hoe engaged in the branchial arch.
This gauge may consist of a resiliently mounted plate, or similar device, hinged above the bottom of an organ, intended to support the head of the fish, and having a free rear edge under which the head of the fish can be introduced. by the hoe The free rear edge of the gauge may be located at a certain distance from the bottom of said support member.
The invention will be described more particularly, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: \
Figure 1 is a plan view of a fish arranging machine embodying the invention.
Figure 2 is a side elevational view of the machine, parts thereof being omitted, for clarity.
Figure 3 is a sectional elevation, on a larger scale, taken along the line III-III of Figure la
Figure 4 is a plan view, on a larger scale, of part of the machine.
Figure 5 is a sectional elevation, on a larger scale, taken along the line V-V of Figure 4.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Referring to the drawings, the machine has a fish conveyor, comprising a pair of endless chains 2, provided with trough-shaped pockets.
1 to carry the fish. The chains 2 pass over a pair of pinions 5 fixed to a motor shaft 3, and over a pair of pinions 6, fixed to an idle shaft 4, these shafts being able to rotate in journals integral with the frame of the machine 7.
Above the fish conveyor is arranged a pair of endless chains 8 passing over a pair of pinions 9 attached to a shaft 13, and over a pair of pinions 10 attached to a shaft 14. The shafts 13 and 14 can rotate in journals integral with a flail 12 which is attached to a console 11 fixed to the frame of the machine 7. To the shaft 13 is fixed a bevel gear
25 which meshes with another bevel gear 42. The bevel gear 42 is attached to a rotary shaft 43 to which is attached a pinion 40 which is driven by means of a chain 26 by a pinion 27 attached to the shaft 3.
A series of plates 20 can be rotated by means of arms 16 in brackets 17 on the chains 80 The plates 20 form rakes designed to enter successively into a pocket 1, when the chains 8 move in the direction of the arrow P (figure 2) after which the plates follow the movement of the pockets 1 simultaneously, while, as a result of the oblique direction of the chains 8 with respect to the fish conveyor, these plates move longitudinally with respect to these pockets, against a sides of the fish conveyor, on which side are located the fish beheading knives 41 and a chain 19 having pockets 180
The plates 20 have an angular position such on the arms 16 that they will be directed at right angles to the pockets 1, when they have entered said pockets.
The arms 16 are actuated by springs
47 which are designed to launch these arms so as to keep the plates 20 in an elevated position, when these plates move in the upper part of their trajectory, and therefore, in a lowered position, when they have entered the pockets 1. A rear extension 24 of the arms 16 limits this launching movement of the arms 16 due to the springs 47.
Circular discs 21 and 22 are respectively fixed to the shafts 13 and 14.
The disc 22 is designed so that the extensions 24 of the arms
16 launch the plates 20 inwardly, when these extensions come into contact with said disc and after having passed this disc, the arms 16 are free to be launched by the springs 47 so that the plates 20 fall apart. enter a pocket 1 and are brought into contact with a fish A, in said poached If occasionally no fish are in the pocket, the plate 20 will not come into contact with the bottom of the pocket , because the rear extension 24 of the arm 16, by its contact with its console 17, will limit the movement towards the arm of the plate 20.
As a result, while the plate 20 is going to enter the pocket 1, it will be stopped at a certain distance from the bottom of the pocket, as indicated to the right of figure 20
When the plates 20 follow the fish pockets 1, which advance laterally, they support elastically by their rear edges 23 on the fish Ao Simultaneously, the plates 20, as a result of the direction of the chains 8 with respect to the chains of the conveyor 2 , move longitudinally with respect to the pockets 1, and move the head of the fish until the head of the fish comes into contact with an elastic gauge plate-28 in one of the pockets 18.
Such a plate 28 is articulated around a needle 44 in each pocket 18 The plate 28 is rigidly connected to an arm 45 which is designed such that under the action of a spring 29 it comes into contact with a needle 30, in pocket 18 following which plate 28 occupies the downward position, shown in solid lines, in Figure 5, such that its rear free edge 46 is at a certain distance from the bottom 50 from pocket 18. o
The chain 19 passes over a pinion 33, fixed to a shaft 31, and over a pinion 34 fixed to a shaft 320 The shafts 31 and 32 can rotate in journals integral with the frame of the machine A 1-'arbre-31 is attached a bevel gear 36 which meshes with a bevel gear 38 attached to a rotating shaft
37.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
To the shaft 37 is also fixed a pinion 39 which is moved by the chain 26. The arrangement, and the gear ratio are chosen so that the pockets 18 and the pocket 1 are facing each other, and move. step by step, or continuously, in the same direction and at the same speeds. When the head of the fish, introduced between the plate 28 and the bottom 50 of a pocket 18 comes into abutment against the free rear edge 46 of the plate, the fish will first be stopped, or else its longitudinal displacement will be delayed simultaneously with the thrust of the plate 28 with a view to its erasure, in the direction of the arrow (FIG. 5).
The elastic resistance of the water plate 28 will determine whether the fish will first only be delayed or stopped when the head of the fish comes into contact with the plate.
In both cases, the plate 20, by its rear edge 23, will slide on the fish against the head of the fish, until it comes into contact with the branchial arch Bo The fish is then pushed forward, in oscillating the plate 28 more or less as a result of which the end of the fish's head will be wedged even more between the free rear edge 46 of the plate 28, and the bottom 50 of the pocket 18, until the rear end 24 of the lateral displacement arm 16 comes into contact with the disc 21, so that said arm is launched to lift the plate 20 away from the fish.
At this time, the fish was moved lengthwise, head first, so that its gill arch B occupies a correct position with respect to the fixed knives 41, to decapitate the fish immediately behind the gill arch B.
When the fish is pushed further by the fish conveyor 1, 2, after being released by the plate 20, but. being still retained by the plate 28, the arm 45 will come into contact with a circular disc 35 fixed to the shaft 31, so that it will be launched at the same time as the plate 28 in the position indicated by lines formed by bars and dots in Figure 5, as a result of which the plate 28, by its edge 46 will release the end of the fish's head. This can be done before or after the decapitation.
When the pocket 18 has passed the disc 35 :, the spring 29 will lower the plate 28 by returning it to its initial position indicated in solid lines in FIG. 5
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described, but several modifications can be made to it without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The trough for stopping or delaying the longitudinal movement of the fish need not necessarily consist of any articulated plate, but any other device can be used to achieve the desired end. Instead of using movable gauges to delay or to stop the fish, a fixed and elastic gauge can be used for the same purpose.
Alternatively, no auge or similar device will exist in the machine, to stop or delay the longitudinal movement of the fish.
The component of the movement of the plates 20, along the fish conveyor 1, 2, need not necessarily be equal to the speed of the fish conveyor
Therefore, if the fish bags 1 are directed obliquely with respect to their direction of movement, said component may be lower or greater than the speed of the fish conveyor.
Instead of putting the fish in position with respect to the decapitation means, the positioning can be done with respect to another organ, for example a pin and / or. a member for opening the throat of the fish, as explained for example in the description of Belgian patent N 47000470 The discs 20, 21 and 35 can be replaced by other guides in the same buto
