<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Liquid fuel burner"
The present invention relates to a liquid fuel burner, comprising a device for supplying the fuel, a device for accumulating the latter, a device for supplying combustion air and a diffusion means. of the latter in the burner, means for adjusting the combustion air and means for adjusting the fuel supply.
The known apparatuses only use ordinary air as combustion means. The invention provides an appropriate combustion means.
To this end, the burner has a drop-by-drop water supply into the air diffuser, to produce there, thanks to the heat developed, a division of the water into oxygen and hydrogen and to enrich the flames with oxidizing gases.
In an advantageous embodiment of the object of the invention. tion, the fuel supply is regulated by a device operating on the principle of communicating vessels.
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description of a liquid fuel burner given below by way of non-limiting example and with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows a vertical section with partial break - @

the brdleur according to the invention.
Figures 2 and 3 give a vertical section of the liquid fuel supply device.
In the different figures, the same reference notations indicate identical elements.
The vaporizer (1) has the shape of a bell, the bottom of which consists of a bowl (2), the top has a cylindrical opening (3), which forms the housing of the oil feeder (4). the perimeter of the vaporizer bell (1) and from top to bottom are hollowed out channels (5) which receive the fuel oil discharged by the openings (7): 'On each side of these channels (5)' are arranged openings allowing air to pass from the inside of the vaporizer (1) into the zones 37 and 38 outside it.
The debtor (4) has a bottom (8) which is pierced with 2 holes (9) for the passage of the fuel in its march towards the upper part of the debtor (4). A buffer (10) also pierced with two holes makes it possible to slow down the flow of the two orifices (9). a key (11) allows the operation of this buffer (10) closing the asperities (12) arranged on the upper edge of the debtor (4) divide the fuel oil into droplets to be discharged into the channels of the vaporizer (1), the cover (13) covers the notches (12) to prevent excessive flow of fuel. The vaporizer (1) is closed in its lower part by a fixed plate (14) pierced with an opening (15).
A disc (16) superimposed on the plate (14) makes it possible to open or close the openings (15) by a complementary adjustment system, the detail of which is not shown in the drawings, thus adjusting the inlet of air in the interior of the vaporizer (1). The tube (17) brings the fuel oil delivered by the float (25) to the flow valve (4).
The tube (18) establishes the level communication of the bowl (2) with the safety float (27). The frame (19) forms an air chamber with an air inlet (20) which can be connected to a fan or any other device giving air under a certain pressure.Three tubes (21) are arranged at the top of the vaporizer (1)
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
to give air to the diffuser (22) which is made up of a cup the walls of which are pierced with holes for the sole purpose of dividing and enriching the flames of combustion with air. A duct (24) connected to the device can bring water dropwise into the diffuser (22) by a device external to the device to increase the oxygenation of the combustion gases.
Two floats ensure automatic operation. The float (25), connected to the oil tank by the tube (30) establishes the level in the debtor (4). For this purpose a needle (26), of a system known per se, regulates the inlet. fuel oil. The needle (26) is also controlled by the thrust of the float (27) which acts on ', .a lever (28) via the push rod (29). The tube (18) is connected with the bowl (2) of the vaporizer (1). The excess flow of fuel oil or the lack of fuel automatically establish a level difference between the bowl (2) of the float (27) and the block of the inlet needle (26), thus preventing any overflow of the device.
OPERATION --------------
With the appliance connected to a normal draft chimney, with the oil tank filled, the oil inlet valve from the line (30) to the float boot (25) is opened. fills to a height such that the fuel oil flows through the upper openings of the flow valve (4). At the same time as full air inlet is given by turning the disc (16), the the key (11) which controls the flow buffer (10) to give the full output of the flow. The fuel oil will overflow through the openings (7) following the channels (5); it will establish the level in the bowl (2), which will act on the float (27), raise the push rod (29) and block the needle (26).
At this moment, by priming the periphery of the burner with an injection of methylated spirit, which is ignited, under the effect of the heat, the fuel oil distils and ignites, the temperature rises rapidly activating the marfhe ; this is the mo-

adjustment of the heating intensity.
The adjustment is carried out as follows:. 'The flow buffer (10) is closed by means of the key (11)., The same is done with the air inlet (16) in order to obtain a flame free of The level of fuel oil accumulated in the bowl (2) will distill rapidly. The float (27) will release the needle (26) and the fuel oil will not enter the combustion chamber until after opening the discharge buffer (10), it preferably burns in the descent channels (5) receiving the maximum amount of air from the openings (6). The accumulation of fuel oil in the bowl (2) being the result of too much flow, it is necessary to avoid - ter to obtain perfect combustion.
In the event of an accident caused by slowing down or stopping suddenly, the bowl (2) will fill with fuel oil and the float (27) will act on the needle (26). The fuel oil flow then closes automatically.
The apparatus can also operate with oxygenation of the combustion gases by distillation of water supplied dropwise through line (24) into the air diffuser (22). In this case, this being brought to a very high temperature, will divide the water into oxygen and hydrogen components, gases which will be distributed to enrich the flames of the fuel oil through the openings (23) of the diffuser. air (22).
For intensive walking, a fan can be fitted which will be connected to the air inlet (20) of the air chamber (19).
It should be understood that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made to it, in particular as regards the form, the constitution, the number and the size. arrangement of the elements involved in its realization without departing from the scope of the present patent application, provided that these changes are compatible with the spirit of the claims set out below.
To avoid too much air consumption in the lower part of the vaporizer, and also not to interfere with the air intake in the 2 separate parts of the device, the vaporizer (1) and the cup (22 ), we could in particular remove the
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
plate 14 and the disc 16 and place in the paetie (37) of the apparatus an air separation cone trunk (39). The air would be directed almost in its entirety towards the cup 22 by the chimneys 21 .
The result would be a cooling of the fuel flow regulator which would be admitted cold and in a liquid state into the bell. When the air intake is not equalized by natural draft but by a device giving air under pressure, the truncated cone 39 will have a funnel-shaped flare at its lower part, to direct the air. air to cup 22. However, the case of the air separation cone does not eliminate the air intake adjuster formed by plate 14 and disc 16.
