<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
Exemple

DESCRIPTIVE MEMORY in support of a PATENT OF INVENTION application "process for the preparation of new ethers-salts of the dihydrooestrine series, having free phenolic hydroxyl groups"
So far, it has not been possible to prepare salt ethers having free phenolic hydroxyl groups by reacting the halides of organic acids with the appropriate compounds of the dihydroestrin series.
The Applicant has found, for example, that acetyl chloride or benzoyl chloride aveo, depending on the temperatures used, either no reaction occurs, or all
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
the hydroxyl groups are asteried simultaneously, which occurs in particular when the operation is carried out in the presence of tertiary bases.
The Applicant has found that, surprisingly, new ethers-salts of the dihydrooestrin series having free phenolic hydroxyl groups can be obtained when the compounds of the dihydrooestrine series are reacted in the presence of a indifferent organic solvent with phosgene, even in great excess. The chlorocarbonates thus formed can then be reacted, for example, with alcohols, amines such as diethylamine, ammonia, aminoalcohols such as dlethylaminoethanol, diamines such as diethylaminoethylamine and the like.
In the presence of tertiary bases, phosgene reacts simultaneously with all hydroxyl groups, such as the halides of organic acids.
Relevant compounds of the dibydrooestrin series are, for example, estradiol, estriol and dihydrc-equilenin.
As indifferent organic solvents, for example, dioxane, benzene, toluene, chloroform, ethylene chloride and the like will be employed.
The new products obtained by the process of the present invention can be used in therapy or as intermediates for the preparation of therapeutic compounds.
The following example illustrates the present invention without however limiting it.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Example
In a solution of 0.2 part of estradiol in 5 parts of dioxane. cooled with ice, 3.75 parts of phosgene are introduced and the whole is left to itself for a few hours at room temperature. Then the solvent is removed by evaporation in a vacuum.
The residue obtained is estradiol 17-monochlorocarbonate. It forms white crystals.,
When this compound is heated for a while with methanol, diluted after cooling with a little water and filtered. estradiol 17-monomethylcarbonate is obtained, which can be recrystallized from methanol. It melts at 216, 5-218.
Other derivatives can also be obtained in an analogous manner, for example 17-monoethylcarbonate of estradiol splitting at 171-172, 17-diethylaminoethylcarbonate of oeatradiol, 16,17-di-ethyloarbonate of. estriol, etc.
