perfectionnement aux bicyclettes et autres véhicules routiers. \,:
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
On constate qu'ici
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

advanced training in bicycles and other road vehicles. \ ,:
Currently, bicycles carry a red light at the rear, this light being attached either to the mudguard partially surrounding the rear wheel, or to the luggage rack, or to the rising fork of the frame, etc.
On the other hand, the registration plates are fixed to the frame of the bicycle, in a place which is generally not very visible, and in any case such that, at night, it is materially impossible to read the number of these plates.
The main object of the present invention is to remedy the known drawbacks of rear lights, which generally protrude from the mudguard and are very difficult to fix. Another object of the invention is, at the same time, to ensure perfect visibility of the registration plate, both at night and during the day,
Essentially, the invention consists in making, in the rear end of the rear mudguard, a window and in forming, behind it, therefore inside the mudguard, a window.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
housing or receptacle for mounting the light, the. window being closed by a red glass.
Preferably, the window is made by cutting the material, the rectangular part cut on three sides being brought back towards the inside of the mudguard to constitute the housing of the light.
As regards the fixing of the identity plate, a part of the cut material is also used to form the window; this part, instead of being brought back towards the inside of the mudguard, is on the contrary brought back in the extension of the mudguard to form an attachment or support for the identity plate; the latter will thus be illuminated by the light, part of the glass of which may, for this purpose, be left blank.
In order for the invention to be fully understood, the appended drawing shows a few exemplary embodiments applied to a bicycle. In this drawing: fig.l shows the rear part of a mudguard with a U-shaped cross section laterally, with a red light integral with this mudguard, fig. 2 is the front view, from behind, corresponding, FIG. 3 is the front view and FIG. 4 the. view from behind of the end of a mudguard of convex section, established to form at the same time the license plate holder fig. 5 is a cross section along V-V of fig.4, fig.6 and 7 are views of an alternative embodiment.
In FIGS. 1 and 2, the mudguard 1 has a section substantially in the shape of an upturned U, the branches of the U embracing the tire of the wheel and forming protective flanges. Towards its rear end, a window 2, of rectangular shape for example, extending over part of the width of the base of the U is cut in this mud shield. Under this window, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
between the legs of the U, a small sheet 3 is fixed, which constitutes a housing receiving a usual light, preferably electric. This light or lamp is engaged through a hole made in one of the branches of the U, and it is held in its housing in any suitable manner easy to design.
For this purpose, it is possible to use the means which will be described later for the example of FIGS. 3 to 5.
This very simple embodiment has the advantage, while being of a very low price, of avoiding any protrusion and any annoying external attachment of the rear light, with the further advantage of being able to use an electric bulb. The window can be free, the lamp then being red, but preferably, it will be closed by a glass or a red mica, illuminated by transparency.
The example of fig. 3 to 5 is more complete. Here, the mudguard, the section of which is assumed to be a portion of the circumference, is slightly deformed, at its end, to constitute, by folding flat inwards (tab 10) an extreme transverse edge rounded following 11, the tab 10 being for example welded to the internal face of the mudguard. In the end portion in the form of a bead 11, a window 12 is cut out, extending over almost the entire visible face of the bead, that is to say involving approximately a semicircle. The cut part is folded around the uncut edge, to form une'patte 13 which constitutes an extension of the mudguard. This tab is used for fixing, by four holes 14 for example, the license plate.
The window 12 is closed by a glass or a mica, the part of which facing the tab 13 is white or colorless while the other part is red. In the housing, formed by the bead 11 and the tab 10 is fixed the bulb 15, or more exactly the "light II or usual lamp; the fixing is ensured by any means, for example by a notch 16 made. in the box or cylindrical casing of the lamp, and
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
one or more lugs such as 17 pushed back from the mudguard sheet. The lamp engages in its housing from the side, the face of the mudguard; this housing can be opened on both sides, so that the lamp also faces on one side, to the right in countries where traffic:.: is on the right.
The light emitted by the lamp will therefore be used in this case for three purposes: to illuminate laterally (towards the shoulder) - to illuminate the license plate and finally, to give the regular red rear light.
As shown in fig. 5, the son for supplying the current to the lamp may be housed either in the yetit bead 18 formed on one side of the mudguard, or in a rib (projecting or re-entrant) 19 formed in the middle of the mudguard.
In the foregoing, it has been assumed that the window made in the mudguard was closed by a transparent colored red; it is understood, however, that this window could remain open, the glass of the lamp, or better of the casing thereof, being colored red. The invention also extends to the case where the tab 13 is formed by a simple extension of the mudguard (therefore does not come from the cutting of a window) and in the case where the tab 13 and bead 11 assembly with the light The rear would be a single piece attached by any means whatsoever to an existing mudguard.
Instead of making the bracket for the identity plate as an extension of the mudguard, it is obviously possible to establish this bracket above the rear light. Thus, in fig. 6, the mud guard also ends with a bead 11 'in which a window is cut out to reveal the light colored in red. But here, the tab is not cut on its upper edge, and it is folded upwards, outwards, to form the support 20 serving to receive the license plate. Here, this plate is therefore located above the rear light, the red part of it being downwards. We see that here
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
the rear light, or better the bead 11 'protective form (mudguard) for the license plate.
In fig.7, the mudguard, always finished as in fig.E by the bead 11 'in which the window is cut, is simply smashed, deformed. above this bead to form a vertical panel 20 'replacing the tab 20 of FIG. 6.
The cut-out part of the window can be folded down as indicated at 11 ", to constitute a red light protector or mudguard.
Although in the above description, bicycle mudguards have been taken as examples, it goes without saying that the invention is also applicable to the mudguards of motorcycles and even motor vehicles (rear fenders). with the main aim always to avoid the rear lights and their attachments and supports outside the wings, and incidentally to constitute by the wing a direct support for the license plate with regulatory lighting, as well as It is clear from the claims below. The window cut into the mudguard has been shown in quadrangular form, but it goes without saying that this window could be of other shape, for example triangular or circular to comply with the regulations which would impose a precise shape of red light.
