The lower edge 33 of each side wall rale 3 is curved so as to match the curvature of a rear mudguard (not shown) of a bicycle. The body 1 is fixed on this mudguard using the fixing member 17.
The body 1 also has a support 18 for a light source 19. This support com carries a threaded bore 20 located in the median plane a and intended to receive the threaded base 21 of an incandescent lamp. The upper end of the body is closed by an end wall 23, carrying a connection terminal 24 electrically insulated from this wall and electrically connected to an elastic contact blade 25, in contact with the central stud 26 of the base. 21. A boss 27 provided with a ta raudé bore 28 makes it possible to fix, using a screw v, the housing 2 on the body 1.
This housing takes ab pui by its peripheral edge on the end of the side walls 3 of the body 1, the lower edge of the end wall 23 of the body 1, as well as on a cross member 30 connecting two uprights 29 projecting on the plane of the dorsal wall 4 and integral with the body 1.
This case 2, made of translucent synthetic material. red color, protects the light source 19 and the connection terminal 24 and, moreover, emits, when the light source is in function of the light rays of red color, signaling the presence of the vehicle.
The window 31 delimited by the uprights 29, the cross member 30 and part of the frame 5, is closed off by a piece of glass or of transparent synthetic material 32. Some of the light rays emitted by the source 19 pass through this window 31 and illuminate the area delimited by the frame 5.
In addition, the housing 2, partially made of a translucent material of red color, together with the light source 19 constitutes not only a bright rear light for a velocipede, visible to an observer located behind the cyclist, but also visible to an observer located on the side of the cyclist, because the side walls of the box 2 are also translucent. This feature has the advantage that the cyclist remains signaled to a motorist passing him, even when the latter reaches the height of the cyclist.
According to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 to 7, the velocipede accessory com carries a synthetic material body integral with the housing 2 and which has side walls 34 interconnected by an inclined plane 35. The lower edge 36 of these side walls is curved so as to conform to the shape of a rear wheel dirt guard of a cycle.
This inclined plane 35 has two openings 37, 38, one of which is crossed by a clamping screw 39 which is screwed into a clamping part 40, bearing on the lower face 41 of the inclined plane 35. This screw 39 is engaged in a bore of a plate holder 42 having the dimensions of a police plate 43. A tab 44 projecting on the dorsal face of this plate holder, is engaged in the opening 37 and maintains the door -plate 42 in its correct angular position.
The housing 2 forming the upper end of this body has the general shape of a prismatic lantern and comprises two translucent side walls 45, red in color, a front wall 46 pierced with a window 46a, a rear wall 47 pierced with a window 47a and a bezel 48 formed by the upper edges of these four walls. In this bezel 48 is embedded a pellet 49 of the reflector type in a translucent material of red color. The window 46a is closed by a lens 50 made of a transparent synthetic material, while the window 47a is closed by a lens 51 of transparent synthetic material.
This dull lan, provided with its translucent and transparent windows, protects a light source 52 consisting of an incandescent lamp whose base 53 is screwed into the middle part 54 of a U-shaped part inverted by a support 55.
One of the wings of this U has a threaded bore 56 into which a fixing screw 57 is screwed passing through the front wall 46, while the second wing of this U carries a connection terminal 58 which is electrically insulated from the support 55, but electrically connected to a contact piece 59 which is electrically supported on the central contact pad 60 of the base of the light source.
The support 55 also has a tab 61 forming a housing for a part 62 of the housing. In this way, this body 1 is fixed in position on the support by this tab 61 and by the screw 57.
The support 55 also comprises an extension 63, extending beyond the body 1 and behind the latter. This extension has tabs 64 making it possible to fix a protection 65 in a translucent artificial or synthetic material, the color of which corresponds to that required by the regulations in force for stop lights. A light source 66, consisting of an incandescent lamp, is housed inside this protection 65. The base 67 of this lamp is fixed in a clamp 68 integral with the extension 63, and the central contact pad 69 of this base is applied to a contact plate 70 carried by a tab 71 integral with the extension 63. The plate 70 is electrically insulated from this tab, but is, on the other hand, electrically connected to a connection terminal 72.
According to this second embodiment, the accessory device comprises, combined in a single assembly 1) a red rear light of the reflector type, lighting up when struck by light rays coming from the headlights of an automobile, for example , but which is also illuminated by the light source 52 and therefore simultaneously constitutes a bright red light; 2) a support for a police plate; 3) a lighting device illuminating the police plate; 4) a lighting device illuminating the cyclist's back; 5) two bright red lights visible from the side; 6) an auxiliary amber red light which can be connected to an electrical circuit, the closing and opening of which are controlled by the activation of the cyclist's brakes.
This auxiliary light then constitutes a brake light.
A fixing member 73 makes it possible to fix the support on the rear mudguard of a cipede bicycle.
According to the embodiment shown in FIGS. 7 to 9, the accessory device comprises a body 1 of synthetic material having two side walls 73 connected by a range 74 intended to receive a police plate 8. The latter is retained in position by means of a screw 75. screwing into a clamping member 9, provided with two wings 10 bearing on the underside of two wings 11 integral with the wall 74. This clamping member 9 further comprises two guiding members 7 sliding in a groove 6 formed in the range 74. The latter has an oblique boss 15, provided with a fixing member 17. This boss is located in the longitudinal median plane a of the body 1.
This fixing member makes it possible to fix the body 1 on the rear mudguard of a cycle.
The lower edge 86 of the side walls 73 is curved so as to match the curvature of the mud guard.
The front wall 76 of the body 1 carries a housing 78 made of molded translucent synthetic material of red color and provided with a window closed by a lens 79 of transparent synthetic material.
The wall 76 also has a threaded hole intended to receive the base 80 of an incandescent lamp 82.
The wall 76 carries a connection terminal 83 electrically insulated, but electrically connected to an elastic contact blade 81, elastically supported on the central pad 84 of the base 80 of the incandescent lamp.
In this embodiment, the cycle accessory therefore comprises 1) a range for fixing a police plate; 2) a bright red light visible from the rear; 3) two bright red lights visible to an observer at vehicle height; 4) a lighting device illuminating the cyclist's back. . Three embodiments of the cycle accessory have been described here by way of example, but it goes without saying that multiple variations can be provided. However, the execution forms shown and described have the advantage of making it possible to produce, using a very small number of parts, an accessory the need for which is no longer discussed today.
