<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

1 economic heating by combustion of gas or '.' / D 'hui le s.
The present invention relates to a device for economical heating by combustion of gas or fuel oils.
The device according to the invention essentially comprises a vertical tube, made of metal or of an insulating material such as refractory material, open at both ends and in which the combustion of gas or oil is produced, this tube being mounted in the tube. 'axis of a second metal tube, placed within the material or container to be heated, closed at its upper part, and which the very hot gases, coming from the upper end of the first tube, must travel from up and down by releasing their heat through its wall.
At the outlet of said second tube, the gases can still be conducted at slow speed perpendicular to fins arranged under the bottom of the container which contains the material to be

heating and by an upward path consisting of one or more vertical tubes also arranged within the material or the container to be heated.
One embodiment of the invention has been shown more or less schematically and by way of example not limiting to the appended drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view through the device, and
Fig. 2 is a horizontal section along 2-2 of the fi.l.
In this drawing 1 designates a container for the fluid or the material 2 to be heated; this receptacle has a double bottom 3, 4 In receptacle 1 there is a tube 5, made of metal which is a good conductor of heat, closed at its upper end, and welded at its lower edge to an opening in the upper base 3 so as to communicate with the space included between the two bottoms 3,4 In the axis of the tube 5 is a tube or chimney 6, open at both ends, fixed in an orifice in the lower bottom 4. The tube 6 is in metal, or insulating material that is a poor conductor of heat; it may be of refractory material.
At the base of the tube 6 is a gas or oil burner 7, of the Bunsen or simple type, supplied by a pipe 8. The burner 7 leaves at the base of the tube 6 a passage 9 sufficient for the air necessary for the combustion. This passage 9 can be provided with a device making the opening adjustable.
On the piping 8 is a first main and safety valve 10, and a second valve which can be actuated by a thermostat 11 with respect to which a bypass is formed to supply the burner on standby in the case of gas heating. ; this bypass can consist of a cylindrical or conical pipe 12 filled with granulated materials, sand, limures, small metal wires, etc., which allow little gas to pass through to supply the pilot burner.
In the space between funds 3 and 4, it is provided
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
on the bottom 3 a number of fins 13 constituting a baffle path for the burnt gases which are finally discharged through a chimney 14 passing through the container 2 vertically.
When the burner 7 is lit, combustion occurs in the tube 6, and the very hot gases leaving the upper end of this tube 6, travel through the annular space between the tube 5 and the tube 6 by the draft produced in tube 6 and in chimney 14.
It is obvious that there can be several systems of tubes 5,6 with nozzles, and several tubes 14.
