" Appareil enregistreur Il -
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"Recording device It -
The present invention relates to a recording apparatus suitable for the automatic recording of the duration or the amplitude of a phenomenon the beginning of which is controlled, comprising a tape on which the phenomenon is recorded from. an origin through which the recording device passes to the beginning of the phenomenon.
This apparatus can be used, for example, with sound or ultra-sound devices for underwater sounding. In this case, the triggering of the sound wave is controlled by a device driven with the recording device, said device being arranged so that this triggering takes place at the precise moment when the recording device passes in front of an original line drawn on the tape.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In known devices of this type, recording is carried out either by an oscillograph tracing a curve on a strip of smoked paper, or by a photographic device with a mirror galvanometer, or by an electrochemical device in which a product covering the paper web is decomposed by the passage of an electric current. These recordings are either difficult to keep, expensive and complicated, or difficult to apply. The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks.
For this purpose, according to the invention, the recording device comprises a perforating device which moves at constant speed in front of the paper strip and which perforates the latter at the end of the phenomenon. In particular, the perforating device can be mounted on a movable / animated element, with a regular rotational movement, this element preferably consisting of a balanced arm animated with a continuous or alternating rotational movement. but regular in the part for which the perforating device is in front of the paper web.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the perforating device is constituted by a needle which is constantly urged towards the paper web by a spring and which can be kept away therefrom during the passage of an electric current in an electric current. magnet, the said current being cut for a short time at the end of the phenomenon to be recorded. The needle is for example carried by an elastic blade maintained in a deformed position during the passage of the current in an electromagnet carried by its support. ,
The invention also relates to any recording device comprising a punch needle of a strip in front of which it moves.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
So that the edge of the perforation remains invariable regardless of the depression of the needle, it is provided according to the invention that the needle has one face in its direction of advance.
In order to make the perforation more visible, it is furthermore provided to give the cross section of the needle a polygonal shape having a small number of sides, preferably a triangular shape.
It is also advantageously possible to have a vertex of this polygon in the direction of advance of the needle.
Finally, when the web moves during the perforation, the needle is preferably oriented so as to enter the web obliquely and in the direction of the web advance.
Other details and features of the invention will become apparent from the description of the drawings appended hereto and which represent schematically and by way of example only a few embodiments of the invention.
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of the invention.
Figure 2 is a side view on a larger scale of the airguillet and the elastic blade in which it is mounted.
Figure 3 is a plan view of the needle and the adjoining part of the strip.
Figure 4 is a section on a larger scale through the needle.
Figure 5 is a section through a variant of the perforating device, shown on a larger scale.
The apparatus shown in FIG. 1 comprises a strip of paper 2 unstored on a drum 3 and moved by means of drive and guide rollers. This strip of paper can be previously provided with parallel lines.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
-lèles longitudinal but can also receive these lines during its displacement. This is what is shown in the figure. Plotter pens 5 press against the paper in relation to a roll 6. They could be replaced by other plotter members leaving an inscription or an imprint.
The strip of paper 2 can be perforated by a needle 7 carried by an elastic blade 8 disposed in a slot 3a of a disc 9 and embedded at 9b in this disc. The blade 8 can be drawn into a deformed position by an electromagnet 10 during the passage of a current through this electromagnet.
The disc 9 is wedged on a shaft it rotated in a regular movement by any motor 12 and which could be constituted by a clockwork movement. The shaft 11 carries two rings 13 and 14 electrically connected to it. 'electromagnet 10 by conductors 15 and 16. On these rings, rub brushes 17 and 18 interposed in an electrical circuit comprising a current source 19 and a switch 20. This switch is normally kept in its closed position. by a spring 21 but it can be opened under the action of an electromagnet 22 interposed in a relay circuit, through which a current passes at the end of the xxx phenomenon to be recorded.
Suppose this is to record the depth of a sea by means of ultrasonic waves. On the shaft 11 is wedged a cam 23 which, by its rotation, can close a switch 24 interposed in the circuit of the apparatus causing an ultrasonic wave. This cam 23 is wedged on the shaft 11 so as to close the switch 24 when the needle 7 passes in front of the line of the strip of paper which is chosen as the origin of the readings. At the moment when the reflected wave influences an apparatus 25, the cir-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
electrical circuit comprising the electromagnet 22 is closed.
The switch 20 is therefore open under the action of the electromagnet and the current in the circuit comprising the electromagnet 10 is cut off. As a result, the elastic blade 8 returns to its natural position and pushes the needle 7 into the paper. To regulate the driving-in depth, a stop 26 is provided on the disc 9 for the blade 8.
The strip of paper presses during its perforation against a transparent plate 27 in which a circular groove 27a is formed on the path of the needle.
In order to facilitate the reading of the strip, provision is made for the use of a magnifying lens 28 and a lamp 29 placed on the other side of the perforated strip with respect to said lens. In this way, the perforation is clearly marked by a luminous point visible through the spoke. nure 27a or the transparent plate 27. The illumination of the strip of paper 2 could obviously be done indirectly by means of reflecting mirrors.
As the web of paper moves continuously, it is advantageous in order not to delay this displacement during the perforation, to orient the needle 7 so that it is inserted obliquely into said web and in the direction of progress thereof (figure 2). The needle axis therefore forms an angle of less than 90 with the plane of the strip, the apex of which is directed in the direction X of advance of the strip.
In order to maintain the accuracy of the readings, whatever the depth of insertion of the needle, the latter has a face 7a perpendicular to the direction of advance Y (fig. 3 and 4) of the needle, and parallel to the longitudinal lines (fig. 4). The needle has a cross-section in the form of a polygon, this polygon having only a few sides (figure 4). In the case shown, the cross section is triangular. This form causes @
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
the existence of very clear beads which show better the difference between the perforation made by the needle and the traces existing in the paper as a result of the porosity of the latter.
The sharp angles of the perforations corresponding to the vertices of the polygon also act in the same direction as the bead @ s. The release of the airguille during its advancement is facilitated thanks to the fact that the front part is constituted by a cutting edge formed by the meeting of the vertices of the triangles limiting each cross section. Finally, the faces 7b and 7d are advantageously convexea.
Instead of being constantly urged by a spring towards the paper web and being pushed away from it when a current passes through an electromagnet, the needle 7 could also be mounted as shown in figure 5. In this case, the needle 7 is mounted on a rod 30, for example interchangeably by means of a sleeve 31. It can slide in two bearings 32 fixed to an electromagnet 33; It is xxxxxxx urged by a spring 34 to move away from the strip of paper. The tension of this spring can be adjusted by acting on a nut 35. The rod 30 carries an armature 36 which is attracted by the electromagnet when the latter is traversed by a current.
The power supply circuit of the electromagnet is only closed when the reflected wave influences an apparatus of the type of apparatus 25 of FIG. 1, the electromagnet analogous to the electromagnet. -Magnet 22 of Figure 1 then closes the circuit of the electromagnet 33.
It is obvious that the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiments shown and that many modifications can be made in the form, the arrangement and the constitution of certain elements involved in its realization, without departing from the scope. scope of this patent. So, it stands to reason that disk 9 could be
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
replaced for example by a balanced arm * This balanced arm could only wander subjected to a pivoting movement in front of the paper strip. This arm would have the advantage of being less bulky compared to the disc.
