<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Constant tension thread tensioner for machining various textiles Il.
Oven to feed the textile machines, the yarn to be worked is wound up on spools or spools either by taking out the unwinding yarn or by taking out the unwinding yarn.
In all cases, in order to unwind the thread from the spool or from the spool, it is necessary to pull on the strand and thereby to give the thread a certain tension. The value and the regularity of this tension have a very great importance on the value of the fabric obtained.
It must be uniform for the same thread. However, during the unwinding of the wire from the spool, many factors can intervene to modify this tension.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Variation of speed of the machine calling for the wire, launched from the spool in the case of taking the. thread unwinding, hooking of the thread in the event that the thread is taken out.
The present device overcomes this drawback:
The attached drawing is given for information only. It can take any other arrangement or form depending on its use and the type of machine on which it is adapted.
Fig. I is an elevational view, the wire unfolding normally.
Fig. 2 is a plan view.
Fig. 3 is a second elevational view, the wire being hung on the spool.
Fig. 4 and 5 are two front elevational views, respectively from the front and from the rear, of an alternative embodiment with the thread running normally.
Fig. 6 shows, on an enlarged scale and for the same position in section along 6-6 of FIG. 4, the detail of the additional framing member of FIGS. 4 and 5.
Fig. 7 shows the apparatus of FIG. 2 in the event that the wire is caught on the spool.
The device consists of a circular yarn guide 4. fixed around an axis 0. This yarn guide acts as a brake.
On this axis o is fixed a toothed sector B which carries a thread guide C which is integral with it.
This toothed sector B meshes with a gear D rotating around a fixed axis ± and carrying a third thread guide! which is supportive of it.
The end! of the thread guide E carries a fixed tension spring G connected at. [to the frame carrying the device.
A thread guide K receives the thread when it arrives. The position of this thread guide K can be varied using the groove R-.
The thread from spool L passes through the thread guide! comes to rest on guide A. passes through guide OC returns to guide A to pass through guide E and start at the machine,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Given the action of the spring tension G, the thread guide E is during normal unwinding in the position it occupies in fig. I, the wire goes to positions I, 2, 3, 4
5, 6 and 7. The friction in the groove of the thread guide A causes a braking in the unwinding along the length of the thread wound in the thread guide A. This braking is variable.
If the inrush voltage of the machine increases or if the unwinding resistance on the spool increases (hooking of the thread on the spool, fig. 3) the thread guide E comes to occupy the position of fig. 2 by moving in the direction of arrow 10. In its movement it drives, by the operation of gears B and D, the thread guide in the position of fig. 3 direction of arrow II., The thread completely leaves the thread guide 4.
In its movement, the yarn guide ± releases a considerable length of yarn which allows waiting for the additional tension required to be compensated.
On the other hand, although the tension of the spring G increases the tension of the thread remains constant as a result of the variation of the lever arm 3 which decreases when the tension of the spring C increases.
As soon as this thread hooking ceases, automatically and instantaneously the thread guide E tends to resume under the action of the spring 0 its initial position and immediately suppresses the friction or. slack that would result. The gear ratio and B is suitably determined to avoid wire breakage due to inertial forces.
On the other hand, when the wire hooked on the bobbin L came in the position of fig. 3, a stop device I can be provided (fig. 3 current contactor or other system making it possible to stop the machine before the elastic limit of the wire is exceeded.
In a variant embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 to 7, the toothed wheel D carries a finger 13 which can act on a lever 14, pivoting at 15 and / being constantly stressed.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
by a spring 16. This lever is connected at its end to a linkage 17 simultaneously commanding an electrical contactor 18 on elastic blades 19 suitably insulated from the housing 30 and the rocking member 21 of an additional tension system constituted! two interlocking grids, one fixed, the other 23 integral with the member 21 and pivoting at 24.
Thus, the wire, following the path 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 as above, passes out of the coil L between the deur grids 22 and 23 applied against each other by the spring 16.
In normal unwinding (fig. 4 to 6) the thread thus undergoes an additional tension which is added to that of the drum ± as a result of its passage between these grids.
If the inrush voltage of the machine or the unwinding resistance on the spool increases, the thread guides! and C move respectively in the direction of arrows 10 and II and at a determined moment, before the end of the stroke, the finger 13 drives the lever 14, therefore the linkage 17, in the direction of the arrow 25 In this movement, contact 18 is closed, the machine therefore stops, and, at the same time, the grid 23 rises by pivoting in the direction of arrow 26, thus removing the pressure which it exerted on. thread .
Note that the attachment point 27 of the spring G and the stopper of the grid 25 are adjustable by screw 28 and lock nuts 29.
As goes without saying and as it emerges moreover already from what precedes, the invention is in no way limited to the only embodiments mentioned above, nor to those of their various parts; on the contrary, it embraces all the variant embodiments comprising the application of similar provisions.
