<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
2 une coupe suivant A B fig.I.

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

quent faire descendre 46,voir fig.9-IOwII.

“IMPROVEMENTS TO DIFFERENT NEW MODELS FOR LRSSIVRR RT CONTROLS” The present invention relates to improvements to washing machines of the so-called “Half-moon” type, as well as various control modes.
It is known that in this type of washing machine, a half-cylinder or beater oscillates in an opening in the form of a hollow half-cylinder along an axis eccentric with respect to the axis of the opening, which makes it possible to roll, rub and compress Laundry. These working conditions are not always achieved because the axes of the beater and the bowl do not keep their respective positions.
The object of the present invention is precisely to provide devices preventing the axes of the beater and of the tank from deviating from the assigned positions either by exerting an adjustable pressure on the movable member or not, or by giving the two parts bowl and beater of foolproof seats and axes,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
adjusting the space reserved for the diaper or adjusting the load,
the control of the machine by oscillating bow, the control by axis of the tank allowing the adaptation of a cover, which gives a hermetic machine avoiding water projections and keeping it hot longer.
In order to better understand the above description, the appended drawings represent:
Fig.I is an elevational view of a half-moon type washing machine, with cover, control by axis of the tank, and elastic adjustment device.

Fig. 7 is a view in elevation of a beater with a positive variation of the axis of oscillation.

Fig. 9 a view in elevation of a washing machine of the same type in another variation of execution of the adjustment device.
Fig.10 a sectional elevation along H fig.9.
Fig. II a plan view of fjg.9, the control bow removed.
Referring to fig. I to 4, the tank is represented by I, the beater by 2, the cover by 3, On the tank I are fixed externally on the one hand a metal crossbar 6 with fork 9 embracing the uprights and comprising the bushes for pins 7 and 8 carrying the leading and wedge pulleys
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The maohine is operated by a connecting rod 22 and a crank 23, on the other hand metal cross members 24 comprising a bush either for the passage of the control shaft 10 or for the passage of the support shaft 25.
The @ 2 comprises a shaft 12 fixed by two bases 14 and 15 to the walls. The base 14 has a groove 13 in which the part II of the drive shaft 10 engages, while the base 15 is provided with a groove 16 whose bottom rests on the fixed axis. 25.
On the tank I rests a cross member 21 retained by the wing screws 4 and in the threaded middle part of which passes a correspondingly threaded sleeve 21.
In this sleeve 21 passes a rod 17 whose fork-shaped end rests on the axis 12 and exerts an elastic and adjustable pressure thereon by means of the spring 18 interposed between the lower edge of the sleeve 19 and a ring 20 carried by the rod 17.
It is easily understood that by the movement of the connecting rod
22 the axis 12 is driven by an oscillating movement and consequently the battcir 2, the latter thanks to the spring 18 being able to receive an adjustable pressure. It will be noted that the cover 3 completely covers the washing machine.
In FIGS. 5 and 6, a variant embodiment is shown which the drawings recalled will make it easy to understand. The machine is controlled by a complete bow 27 or simply an arm. This bow 27 is wedged on the control shaft 10 and its other end can oscillate by means of a pivob housed daas the cross member 24 opposite.
The beater is driven by a piston rod 28 whose upper part 29 in the form of a fourohe embraces the horizontal part of the bow 27 and carries a cross member 37 acting as a handle while the lower part enters the housing. of an upright 31 of the bat- tle where it receives the thrust of a spring 30. The adjustable pressure is given by springs 33 fixed to crossbars
34 fixed by articulated bolts 35 and acting on uprights 32 which can slide in the walls of the pressing tank
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
on the pins 36 of the beater resting in the appropriate seats fixed on the tank.
It is thus understood that the beater can be raised: b and is brought back into place by the leaf springs 33.
We could make this system foolproof by removing the springs 33, and letting the uprights 32 rest against the cross members 34.
As for the drive of the beater, it is carried out by the piston 28 driven by the arohet 27. When we want to remove the mechanical control, we press on the handles 37, we compress the spring 30, then we tilt the bow 27 , The beater 2 is completely free. If you want to remove it, simply tilt the crossbars 34 around the hinge bolts 35.
In fig.7 and 8 there is shown a type of beater whose positions of the axis of oscillation are variable.
To this end, the beater has notches in which the seats 42 of the pivots 43 can slide by means of screws 40 engaged in threaded blocks 39 correspondingly fixed to an axial cross member 38.
The screws 40 are maneuvered by the bars 41 and thus the pivots 43 can go up or down. If desired, the flat walls of the beater can be provided with a series of holes in any one of which the journals can be fixed. such as 43. We have not shown this arrangement oelle-oi being easily understood.
In fig.9,10,11 another construction variant has been shown comprising an elastic arrangement of the adjustable beater housed dansle control arm of the beater. To this end, the piston rod 46 enters a bush 45 threaded externally in a tube 51 embedded in the upright 44. The upper part of this hollow bush carries an operating key 50 and in the bottom of 45 is disposed a spring 47, which has the effect of maintaining 46 in relation to 27 and exerting pressure on the beater. To release the beater from its bow, it suffices to maneuver 45 by means of 50 so as to relax 47 and consequently

quent to lower 46, see fig. 9-IOwII.
The beater 2 rests by the journals 48 including the bottom of the slides 49 adjacent to the vertical walls of the tank.
It will be understood that by operating the sleeve 45 the elasticity of the beater is adjusted to the point of completely eliminating it when the spring 47 is almost completely compressed.
The appended drawings representing different models of execution of the improvements and controls to the type of washing machine envisaged are only given for explanatory purposes and are not limiting and it is to be understood as coming within the scope of this patent, other details or constructive modalities. resulting directly or indirectly from the means indicated above specific to the achievement of the object of the invention.

Improvements in washing machines of the so-called half-moon type and new operating modes, characterized by the following points @ considered together or separately.
I) The axis of the outer half-shaped opening. oral cylinder and the axis of oscillation of the other inner half cylinder or beater are prevented from deviating from their assigned positions either by exerting on the movable member or beater an adjustable pressure or not, or by giving to the opening and battcir of fool-proof seats and axes and this by appropriate means, with a view to adjusting the space reserved for laundry or adjusting the load.
2) The oscillation movement is controlled by a bow or swinging arm or half bow on which rests the fork-shaped end of a rod resiliently joined to the central post of the batt oLr so to exert a pressure on the beater and it follows a compression of the linen. A force from top to bottom on the said rod makes it possible to release it from the bow or arm and thus remove the mechanical control at will.
