<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

LIFTING DEVICE FOR AGRICULTURAL MACHINES.
The invention relates to the special construction of a lifting device for agricultural machines intended for lifting and lowering agricultural tools, more particularly cutting tools for mowers and agricultural tractors, in which device the lifting takes place. by means of a hand lever cooperating with an auxiliary spring. According to the invention, the load arm is laid down so that it can be rotated freely around its axis and is supported by means of the auxiliary spring against a roller arranged on the hand lever.
The supporting surface of the load arm is curved in such a way that, in the first and last part of the lift, a small movement of the hand lever corresponds to a large movement of the load arm and that during the middle part of the lift. lifting, a large displacement of the hand lever corresponds to a small displacement of the load arm.
The variation of the gear ratio between the hand lever and the load arm can be done continuously or in steps. If the gear ratio gradually varies, the bearing surface of the load arm preferably comprises a convex part oriented towards its axis of rotation followed by a concave part oriented towards the end of the arm.
The auxiliary spring can act either on the end of the arm of the hand lever carrying the roller, or on the load lever.
One embodiment, given by way of example, is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 shows the lifting device in the working position.
Figure 2 shows the device in an intermediate position corresponding to the swath level.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Fig 3 is a view of the device in the final lifting position and
Fig 4 is a section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. 1.
The load to be lifted acts on a load arm 1 which is supported by a frame -2 so) that it can be rotated about an axis 3. A bearing part 2 ', connected to the frame, supports the bottom of a box. spring 7 pivoting around the pivot 8, so that the latter can be placed in any direction of traction.
In the box 7 is disposed a spring 9, which rests on one side on the bottom, of the box 7, while on its opposite side, the counter-bearing, in the form of a spring plate 10, is connected in an adjustable manner to a rod 11, so that this counter-bearing can move up and down in the box by tensioning and relaxing the spring 9. The rod 11 passes through a borehole in the bottom of the spring box 7. A its lower end, it is fixed to a part 16, in the form of a stirrup, which acts from below on the load arm and serves as a bearing for a pivot 12, on which a roller 6 is rotatably mounted. This roller is held in contact with the curved bearing surface of the load arm 1, by the spring 9.
A hand lever comprising two arms 5, 5 ′ pivots about an axis 4 fixed to the frame 2. The arm 5 ′ of this lever, bent downwards, acts on the pivot 12 of the bracket 16. In the working position, that is to say, if the load is lowered, the parts of the suspension device take the position shown in fig. 1. In this position the spring 9 is stretched. It keeps the roller 6 in permanent contact with the load arm.-1, the bearing surface of which has a curved profile, the shape and purpose of which are defined by the following description.
In the working position, the pivot 12 of the roller 6 is located below the pivot 3 of the load arm l. The fulcrums of the hand lever 5, the load arm, and the spring suspension are chosen so that at the start of the pivoting of the hand lever 5, the length of the lever arm of the lever. The spring increases very quickly relative to the pivot of the load arm, while, as a result of the convex part 13 of the bearing surface of the load arm, the spring tension decreases only slowly.
When the mower is at swath level, the elements are in the position shown in figure 2. The roller 6 is still on the convex part 13, but at a place close to where it will start to descend into the concave part of the bearing surface. Thanks to this arrangement and the shape of the bearing surface, the efforts of the. vage and descent compensate each other so that the desired and reached position is maintained. However, a stop - 14 can be provided for certain positions, for example for the position at swath level. If the mower is raised from its swath position to its final position, shown in Figure 3 ', it can be seen that the roller 6 runs through the concave part 13' of the bearing surface of the charge.
To lock the raised position, a second stop 15 can be arranged on the load arm.
In the lifting device according to the invention, each position of the load arm is determined by the movement of the roller 6 in cooperation with the curved bearing surface of the load arm, The shape of this surface is such that the angular speeds of the lever hand lever and the cart arm are variable with respect to each other and that the force required for the hand lever is maintained at each location within determined limits, so that, for example, in the first and the last part of the lift, a small angular displacement of the hand lever corresponds to a large displacement of the load arm, and that during the middle part of the lift, a large displacement of the hand lever corresponds to a small displacement of the load arm.
The invention is not limited to the embodiment described, ¯. ¯ @ @
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
For example, the variation of the gear ratio between the hand lever and the load arm does not have to be done continuously, it can also be done in stages, by providing an adequate and corresponding shape of the bearing surface. The auxiliary spring 9 can also act, not on the hand lever, but on the load arm 1.
