Fig. 2 das selbe Gehäuse geschlossen mit Schaum,
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a sealing profile for a housing sprayed with foam.
Objects to be insulated are partially placed in the housing and then the space between the housing and the object to be insulated is sprayed with a foam. Make sure that no foam escapes between the joints of the housing parts.
AT 408 808 B shows a housing with overlapping partial areas. If such a housing is sprayed out, there is a risk of foam leakage.
In the case of foamed housings according to the prior art, the joints are therefore either sealed with adhesive strips or a film is placed between the housing and the foam. The first solution has the disadvantage that it is time-consuming and therefore expensive. The second solution has the disadvantage that voids arise in the case of folds in the film and also no stabilizing effect is produced by the foam, since the film only bears against the housing but does not stick to the wall.
The aim of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to create an insulated housing which can be filled with foam with a simple workload, in which no foam escapes through joints and which at the same time has a rigid structure.
According to the invention, this is achieved by means of a sealing profile for housings in accordance with independent claim 1 in that housing parts are connected with undercuts and then the housing is sprayed out with foam. The rear grips prevent the foam from escaping through the joints. Since the foam sticks to the housing parts during curing, the housing is additionally stiffened in this way.
According to the features of claim 2, there is the advantage that there is a fixed connection due to the tension between the housing parts.
A fixed connection between the housing parts is achieved by the features of claim 3.
According to the features of claim 4, a firm connection between the housing parts can be achieved without separate connecting means.
The features of claim 5 ensure that foam is prevented from escaping by material closure of the housing parts.
A particularly advantageous use of a sealing profile according to the invention is described by the features of claim 6.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to the drawings. It shows
1 is a housing without representation of the sealing profiles according to the invention and without foam as an exploded view,
2 the same housing closed with foam,
Fig. 3 comprehensive housing parts according to the prior art and
4 to 8 details of variants of a sealing profile according to the invention.
1 shows a hot water tank 5 in a housing 4, which has at least two housing parts 1, 2. 1, the housing 4 is open and without foam, in FIG. 2 the same housing 4 can be seen closed with foam 3. Between the hot water tank 5 and the housing parts 1, 2 there is a heat-insulating foam 3 which, in addition to the heat-insulating function, also gives the housing 4 and the parts therein stability.
According to the invention, the two housing parts 1, 2 engage in one another in partial areas 11, 21 in accordance with FIGS. 4 to 8. The two housing parts 1, 2 are joined together in such a way that the gap between the housing part 1 is closed by the housing part 2.
4 shows a variant of the sealing profile according to the invention. The housing part 1 has a bead 7 shortly before a terminating edge 9. The housing part 2 also has a bead 7 shortly before a terminating edge 8. The two housing parts 1, 2 are joined together in such a way that the terminating edge 9 of the housing part 1 lines up the bead 7 of the housing part 2 abuts. At the same time, the end edge 8 of the housing part 2 engages linearly in the bead 7 of the housing part 1. Rivets 6 hold the housing parts 1, 2 together.
The end edging 8 and the end edge 9 deform elastically and provide compressive stress in the contact area. Insulating foam 3 is located inside the housing 4. Because of the line contact between the two housing parts 1, 2, none
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Escape foam 3 into the environment. Minimal amounts of foam 3, which could pass the end edge 9 when foaming, are caught between the partial surfaces 11, 12 and cannot reach the outside via the end edge 8.
Fig. 5 shows a sealing profile that does not require separate connecting means. The housing parts 1, 2 are matched to one another in such a way that they engage one another in an elastically resilient manner. The two partial surfaces 11, 21 are designed as springs which have mutually perpendicular support surfaces 10, 12 on which the housing parts 1, 2 abut one another. In addition, the housing part 1 has a bend 13 and the housing part 2 has a bend 14. The bend 14 engages in the bend 13, the angle between the support surface 12 and the bend 14 being smaller than the angle between the support surface 12 and Angle 13.
This results in a form fit through the support surfaces 10 and 12 and the line contact between the bends 13 and 14. The elastic deformation of the housing parts 1, 2 also results in a force fit. Due to the positive and non-positive connection, no foam 3 can get out of the interior of the housing 4. For assembly, the bend 14 of the housing part 2 (angled to the illustration in FIG. 4) is inserted into the bend 13 of the housing part 1 on one side and then brought into the position according to FIG. 4 by turning. On the other hand, a snap-in aid 15 facilitates the elastic deformation of the housing part 1 so that the housing part 2 can be inserted.
FIG. 7 shows a similar sealing profile, but in comparison to FIG. 4 there are no bends 13, 14. Instead, the end edging 8 of the housing part 1 presses linearly on the housing part 2.
Ultimately, a housing 4 can be seen in FIG. 8, in which a housing part 1 is designed to be essentially round and at the end bends 13, 14 engage one another in the partial region 11, 21. The tension in the housing part 1 ensures the frictional connection along the linear form-fitting line.
The manufacturing process provides that mainly foams based on a polyol mixture (rigid foam system) are used. The housing parts 1, 2 are put together so that they have tight joints (as described above). With very short so-called shot times (approx. 2-3 seconds), the foam mixture is introduced into the mold (space between housing 4 and hot water tank 5) by spraying from a nozzle: the mixture begins to drift immediately after leaving the nozzle until the space is completely filled. Here, the housing is held pressure-proof in the foam shape, so that the desired additional amounts of rigid foam mixture can be safely used even when excess pressures arise. The density and density of the foam can be influenced by the amount and pressure.
It takes about half an hour for the foam mixture to decrease in reaction intensity and begin to harden.
A distinction is made between open-cell and closed-cell foam. After curing, the cell structure of the open-cell foam partially breaks open and releases the propellant gas. Instead of the propellant gas, the ambient atmosphere penetrates into the cell. Open-cell foam is particularly suitable for recycling, has a low density, but is not very stable, so that open-cell foam can only be used as a load-bearing material to a limited extent.
In order to be reproducibly controlled, the entire foaming process must be monitored in all parameters (times, processing temperature, etc.) and is very sensitive to deviations. The process control should therefore be largely automated, since in the event of deviations the entire foamed product is rejected and the foamed object can only be returned to production after manual "peeling".
