Description
AT 403 494 BAT 403 494 B
The invention relates to thermal insulation for buildings, in particular for thermal insulation in the wall, ceiling and roof area, with an insulating material arranged for thermal insulation in a delimited insulating zone and an insulating element for this thermal insulation. Thermal insulation can be found in a large variety in civil engineering, technical systems and devices and serves on the one hand to counteract heat or cold losses and thus energy losses or on the other hand to keep harmful influences of heat or cold as far as possible from objects to be protected, be it to keep harmful temperatures away from sensitive materials, be it to prevent indirect effects of heat or cold, such as condensation.
Synthetic materials such as e.g. Polyurethane foam or mineral wool, especially glass wool, is used. These insulating materials are not only relatively expensive and require a greater or lesser expenditure of energy to produce them, but rather mostly cause inevitable environmental pollution during production, processing or disposal. It has also been shown that e.g. The glass wool that is frequently used for thermal insulation in the area of wall, ceiling and roof surfaces in buildings decomposes over time and thus loses its insulating effect.
Mineral wool (glass, stone or slag wool) is usually soaked in phenol-formaldehyde glue. Formaldehyde and phenol cause various complaints, especially in allergy sufferers, which is why their use in the living area should be avoided.
A particular problem is that glass wool is easily attacked by cockroaches, which can hardly be combated effectively. It has become known that cockroaches migrate through district heating pipes through glass wool insulation and colonize connected buildings.
When it comes to thermal insulation in residential buildings, the creation of a favorable indoor climate is of great importance, which is why thermal insulation is harmless to health, diffusible and hygroscopic, i.e. moisture balancing, should be.
The invention has for its object to provide thermal insulation of the type mentioned in such a way that it can be easily and inexpensively manufactured, used and, if necessary, disposed of with a high degree of environmental protection and with particular attention to ecological aspects, and used to promote a healthy indoor climate, especially for residential buildings why the insulation should be optimal in terms of health, diffusible and hygroscopic. In addition, an insulation element for the thermal insulation according to the invention is to be created which is inexpensive to manufacture and simple and reliable to handle.
The solution to this problem is that sheep wool is used as insulation, which is enclosed in a breathable manner within the insulation zone.
The heat-insulating properties of wool are generally known, particularly due to their use in clothing. The wool is one of the insulating materials with optimal thermal conductivity values of 0.035 - 0.04 W / mK. It is therefore also widely used for the manufacture of mattresses, duvets or the like.
It was also proposed more than a hundred years ago to use wool in the manufacture of thermal insulation in the technical field. Thus, DE-PS 12 217 describes the production of a heat protection composition from two layers of tough and strong paper, between which a cotton wool, wool or hair is stored by means of an adhesive such that both layers of paper form a piece with the intermediate cotton wool, for example is suitable for changing steam line pipes, steam cylinders and other devices that need to be protected against external cooling. An external coating of tar is suggested as moisture protection.
About seventy years ago, US Pat. No. 1,442,326 proposed an insulating mat intended for the insulation of railway wagons or buildings, in which animal hairs are applied on both sides to a fabric serving as a carrier and are covered on the outside by asbestos paper.
Essentially, this theoretical proposal has remained. In the past decades, the use of animal wool or hair for thermal insulation in buildings has not become established in practice. In the supplement " heat, cold and sound insulation " to the magazine " Haustechnische Rundschau ", No. 6, 1953, p. 21, an article on insulation materials states that of the fibrous materials for industrial purposes, mainly glass wool, slag wool and asbestos wool come into question, while i.a. Sheep wool is mentioned as heat protection for the human body. Animal wool and especially sheep's wool is not included in the list of insulation materials tested and approved by the German Federal Institute for Material Testing.
Reinigung nicht zugänglich ist, Bedenken bestanden und dem Zeitgeist folgend synthetische oder anorganische 2It is believed that the use of an animal product in an area other than e.g. Clothing, blankets or mattresses - regular care or cleaning is not available, concerns have been raised and synthetic or inorganic 2
AT 403 494 BAT 403 494 B
Materialen für wesentlich besser geeignet angesehen wurden.Materials were considered much more suitable.
However, it has been shown through tests that this is an unfounded prejudice and that the use of sheep's wool far exceeds the insulating effect of the mineral wool used today to a great extent in the thermal insulation of buildings, the sheep's wool 5 also to a much lesser extent Price is available; Black sheep's wool, for example, is currently practically not for sale because it cannot be dyed. The sheep's wool is optimal in terms of health, diffusible and moisture-equalizing and therefore particularly advantageous for creating a good indoor climate.
From an ecological point of view, sheep's wool is one of the completely safe raw materials from production to disposal, which does not burden the ecological cycle. io From the point of view of fire protection, there are no concerns about the use of sheep's wool as insulation in buildings. Wool cokes on fire and then does not continue to burn. Unlike synthetic insulation materials, no anesthetic gases are formed. There is also the fact that the wool, when used as an insulating material in house construction, will or can be enclosed on all sides by flame-retardant material. 75 The invention not only creates environmentally friendly, cost-effective thermal insulation, it also helps to open up additional sales opportunities for wool in agriculture.
The scientific institutes or government bodies in the fields of building biology and ecology and agriculture, which were confronted with the use of sheep's wool as insulation material for buildings during the test phase, were very impressed by the development and its advantages and offered their strong support.
Whether for reasons of stability or to prevent the insulation material from shifting, the insulation zone can be divided into several chambers.
The insulation zone can be delimited by structural elements of the building or by a covering that combines the wool into a insulation element. For the simple, clean, effective and inexpensive production of the thermal insulation according to the invention, it is of particular importance that the sheep's wool serving as insulation material is available in the form of easy-to-use insulation elements. The design of such insulation elements is therefore an essential part of the invention. 30 Such insulation elements can be designed according to the respective application or can be designed, for example, in combinable rectangular dimensions and graded thicknesses for the design of flat insulation zones in the area of building walls, ceilings or roofs.
An advantageous embodiment consists in that the wool is bound with a binding agent to form a heat-insulating molded body. Mineral binders such as e.g. Clay or plaster. The mixing with binders makes it possible to adapt the moldings, which are optimally adapted to the respective application, such as panels for thermal insulation on walls or roofs, tubular moldings, but also the surface area of an object adjacent to the insulation zone, e.g. a roof beam or a chimney duct to produce customized shells. 40 GB-PS 1 528 545 describes a glass fiber reinforced cement-based substrate which can contain between 0.03 and 5 percent by weight of the total amount of the fibrous and cementitious material of natural fibers, with cotton, flax, hemp, wool and silk being available. The addition of fibers is said to improve the impact resistance of the substrate used as sound insulation and the advantage is seen in the fact that when these natural fibers are used, their weight fraction 45 can be kept considerably lower than when using asbestos fibers.
Due to the low proportion of fibers, there is no thermal insulation effect.
From US-PS 888.006 a wall or ceiling covering is known which imitates a fabric structure and by dusting a thin layer of fibers, e.g. Wool fibers, is produced on an adhesive base, the aesthetic effect being essential, while due to the thin fiber layer, a 50 insulating effect is not achieved.
Eine wärmedämmende Aufgabe soll 55 das beschriebene Material nicht übernehmen.DE-OS 3 135 893 also mentions a binder in the form of mortar or concrete in which fibers are incorporated, the impregnation of fibers for fiber concrete being described in order to make them resistant to aging. A glass fiber concrete with embedded glass fibers is described as an example, the use of fibers other than glass fibers being mentioned in passing. The material described should not take on an insulating function.
Besonders einfach wird die Handhabung des Dämmstoffes, wenn die Wolle durch Vernadeln mittels Filznadeln zu Formkörpern verbunden ist, die beispielsweise als zuschneidbare Bahn oder Tafel mit einer der Dicke der gewünschten Dämmzone entsprechenden Dicke hergestellt und beispielsweise in Rollen mit 3Handling the insulation material becomes particularly easy when the wool is connected to shaped bodies by needling with felting needles, which are produced, for example, as a sheet or sheet that can be cut to a thickness corresponding to the thickness of the desired insulation zone and, for example, in rolls of 3
AT 403 494 B abgestufter Materialstärke vorrätig gehalten werden können.AT 403 494 B graded material thickness can be kept in stock.
A particularly good insulation effect can be achieved by using sheep wool fleece for the production of the insulation elements because it has a particularly favorable, voluminous structure. However, a sheep's wool fleece has only a low dimensional stability, its surface is easily damaged and it is therefore not very easy to handle. It is therefore preferable to use a cross-laid fleece, the stability of which is better. however, does not yet meet the requirements for an easily manageable insulation element.
A particularly advantageous embodiment is therefore that the sheep's wool fleece is sandwiched between two layers of a needle felt made of sheep's wool and the fleece and needle felt are connected to their own fibers by needles to form a manageable unit.
This configuration is particularly advantageous in that the entire element consists exclusively of the self-extinguishing, flame-retardant sheep's wool, which has a high thermal insulation value, and is easy to handle with sufficient dimensional stability.
Such dam elements can be designed according to the respective application or can be designed, for example, in combinable rectangular dimensions and graded thicknesses for the design of flat insulation zones in the area of building walls, ceilings or roofs. The handling of the insulation element becomes particularly simple if it is produced, for example, as a sheet or sheet that can be cut to a thickness corresponding to the thickness of the desired insulation zone and is kept in stock, for example, in rolls with a graduated material thickness.
Preferably, the connection between needle felt and fleece produced by needles is limited to selected connection zones, which are distributed, for example, in the manner of quilting seams, so that the voluminous structure of the sheep's wool fleece is preserved as far as possible.
The wool used is preferably used in a washed state. The wool can also be carded to improve the insulation effect.
The following description of the exemplary embodiments of the invention illustrated in the drawing explains this in more detail. 1 shows a perspective illustration of part of an insulation mat for thermal insulation, in particular in the roof area, FIG. 2 shows an illustration of part of an insulation plate corresponding to FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a section through an insulation shell adapted to the surface profile of an object to be insulated, FIG 4 an insulation mat wound into a roll and FIG. 5 an insulation element consisting of a fleece of sheep wool between covers made of needle felt.
Fig. 1 shows schematically a suitable for any installation, preferably as a mat for thermal insulation in the roof area determined insulation element 30, which consists of a sheath 32 which encloses a cuboidal insulation zone 34 which is filled with black sheep wool 21. The sheath is designed or made of such a material that air can enter the sheep wool 21 and moisture exchange is possible. For example, perforated paper, a jute cover or net-like or grid-like materials can be used as the cover.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the black sheep wool 21 serving as insulation material fills the insulation zone 34 enclosed by a covering 32. However, the sheep's wool can also be introduced into a cavity formed by structural elements of the building and provided as an insulation zone, e.g. be blown in.
The insulation zone can be subdivided into individual chambers both when using a covering and when introducing it into cavities prepared on the building, in order to prevent, for example, displacement or undesirable compression of the wool in the case of inclined or vertical insulation zones. However, the wool can also be used as an insulating element in the form of prepared moldings, which are formed, for example, by needles or felting.
Another possibility for forming shaped bodies is that the sheep's wool 2 is mixed with a binder 23 and then shaped into an insulating element, as is e.g. is shown in Fig. 2 as part of an insulation board 130, which can also be edited to adapt to the mounting situation. However, it is also possible to produce brick-shaped insulating bodies or shell-like insulating elements which can be adapted to the surface profile of the area adjoining the insulating zone, as is shown, for example, in FIG. 3 with the aid of an insulating element 40 which corresponds to the surface of a component 42 adjacent to the insulating zone is adjusted.
The insulation elements can also be tubular to adapt to special installation situations.
4Another possibility - as shown in Fig. 4 - is to create a sheet-like insulation element 52, which can be separated from a supply roll 50 as required, in which a layer of the desired thickness of the sheep wool 21 is provided on both sides with a liner 54 and 56, respectively for example made of paper or a cotton fleece. 4th
