Mixture preheaters for internal combustion engines.
It is already known to arrange mixture preheaters in the intake line of internal combustion engines. The known devices consist of a sleeve inserted in the suction line, between the double wall of which an electrical heating wire winding is embedded, whereas radially positioned mixing blades are arranged in the lumen of the sleeve, the free ends of which are bent against the sleeve wall in order to convey the axially flowing fuel mixture to the heated sleeve wall .
With this arrangement, at least half of the heat developed by the radiator is lost through radiation to the outside and only the heat imparted to the inside of the sleeve can have an effect on the fuel mixture. The consequence of this is that heating batteries of the size customary and applicable for motor vehicles are not sufficient.
In the subject matter of the present invention, the heating element is arranged in the axis of the suction line, whereas the mixing blades extend from the sleeve wall and are bent inwards towards the heating element.
An example embodiment of the mixture preheater is shown schematically in the drawing. 1 shows a longitudinal section and FIG. 2 shows a section along line II of FIG. 1.
The mixture preheater consists essentially of a sleeve a, which is fixed centrally in the lumen of the suction line by means of a flange b using an insulating plate c between the flanges d of the suction line e. The heating coil i wound on an insulating body h is held in the axis of the sleeve a by means of webs f, g and can be connected to the power source by means of the insulated lines i. Through cuts 7c made in the sleeve wall, tabs are obtained in a known manner, which are made from. the sleeve wall bent inwards and the fuel mixture steering the fuel mixture against the radiator j! form, which leave the inlet cross-section completely free.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Mixture preheater for internal combustion engines, in which the cold fuel mixture is fed to an electric heater by a mixing blade for heating, characterized in that the heater is arranged in the axis of the intake line.
