Abstract
Proceso para generar monóxido de carbono (CO) a partir de dióxido de carbono (CO₂) en una celda de electrólisis de óxido sólido (SOEC) o pila de SOEC, en donde el CO₂ se conduce al lado del combustible de la pila con una corriente aplicada y el oxígeno en exceso se transporta al lado de oxígeno de la pila, utilizando opcionalmente aire o nitrógeno para llenar el lado de oxígeno y en donde la corriente de producto de la SOEC, que contiene CO mezclado con CO₂, se sujeta a un proceso de separación. El proceso comprende además calentar el gas de entrada tanto en el lado de combustible como en el lado de oxígeno por medio de unidades de calentamiento separadas, con el fin de suministrar calor a la SOEC, donde la temperatura de operación de las unidades de calentamiento es por lo menos igual a la temperatura de operación de la pila de celdas menos 50ºC, preferiblemente por lo menos igual a la temperatura de operación de la pila de celdas.
