Abstract

La presente se dirige a composiciones poliméricas termoplásticas retardantes de llama. Las composiciones retardantes de llama, convenientemente, están libres de antimonio. Las composiciones contienen una cantidad retardante de llama eficaz de una combinación de uno o más compuestos de bismuto seleccionados del grupo que consiste en oxicloruro de bismuto, oxifluoruro de bismuto, oxibromuro de bismuto, oxiyoduro de bismuto y oxinitrato de bismuto y uno o más retardantes de llama de organobromo, por ejemplo, decabromodifenil éter (decabromodifenil óxido) o tris[3-bromo-2,2-bis(bromometil)propil]fosfato. El polímero termoplástico es, por ejemplo, polipropileno, polietileno, poliestireno, copolímero de polipropileno/polietileno u olefina termoplástica. Las presentes formulaciones, convenientemente, no contienen trióxido de antimonio, y logran una clasificación V0 de acuerdo con la prueba de inflamabilidad UL 94.
