Abstract

Recuperación de alcohol, en particular etanol, de un producto crudo obtenido de la hidrogenación de ácido acético con el uso de diversas combinaciones de membranas y/o columnas de destilación.Reivindicación 1: Un proceso para producir etanol, que comprende los siguientes pasos: hidrogenar ácido acético a partir de una corriente de alimentación de ácido acético en un reactor para formar un producto de etanol crudo que comprende etanol, ácido acético y agua; retirar una mayor parte del agua del producto de etanol crudo para formar una corriente de agua y un producto crudo seco, en donde el producto crudo seco comprende menos de 5% en peso de agua; y recuperar el etanol del producto crudo seco. Reivindicación 2: El proceso de la reivindicación 1, en donde al menos el 90% del agua del etanol crudo se retira el producto de etanol crudo, preferentemente de 90% a 99,9% del agua del etano crudo se retira del producto de etanol crudo. Reivindicación 3: El proceso de la reivindicación 1, en donde la corriente de agua comprende menos de 5000 wppm de etanol. Reivindicación 4: El proceso de la reivindicación 1, en donde el agua e retira por medio de una unidad de adsorción seleccionada del grupo de unidades de adsorción por cambio de presión y unidades de adsorción por cambio térmico.
