Abstract

Reivindicación 1: Procedimiento para la producción de ácido fórmico por hidrogenación de dióxido de carbono en la presencia de un catalizador que contiene un elemento de los Grupos 8, 9 ó 10 del Sistema Periódico, una amina terciaria (l) y un solvente polar (III) bajo una presión de 0,2 bis 30 MPa abs y una temperatura de 20 a 200ºC con formación de dos fases líquidas, separación de una de las fases líquidas (A) enriquecida en el aducto ácido fórmico/amina (II) con respecto a la otra fase líquida (B), y reconducción de la fase líquida (B) hacia el reactor de hidrogenación, caracterizado porque (a) como amina terciaria (l) se emplea una amina que bajo una presión de 1013 hPa abs presenta un punto de ebullición que es superior en por lo menos 5ºC al punto de ebullición del ácido fórmico y que se halla enriquecida en la fase líquida (B); (b) como solvente polar (III) se emplea un solvente cuyo factor electrostático tiene un valor ³ 200×10-30 Cm y que bajo una presión de 1013 hPa abs presenta un punto de ebullición que es superior en al menos 5ºC al punto de ebullición del ácido fórmico y que se halla enriquecido en la fase líquida (A); (c) en una unidad de destilación se desdobla térmicamente el aducto ácido fórmico/amina (II) de la fase líquida separada (A), en ácido fórmico libre y amina terciaria libre (l); (d) se retira por destilación el ácido fórmico libre; y (e) se reconducen hacia el reactor de hidrogenación la amina terciaria libre (l) contenida en el sumidero de la unidad de destilación y el solvente polar (III).
