Abstract

La presente se refiere a un proceso para separar poliéster, y, en particular, tereftalato de polietileno de diversos contaminantes e impurezas. En general, el proceso incluye los pasos de mezclar materiales que contienen poliéster con una composición alcalina en una mezcladora. La mezcladora imparte energía a la suspensión suficiente para proporcionar el recubrimiento substancialmente completo y parejo de los materiales que contienen poliéster con la composición alcalina y causar la saponificación de la superficie exterior del poliéster con la composición alcalina. Luego de la reacción en la mezcladora, la mezcla se calienta, lo que hace que algunas de las impurezas se modifiquen químicamente en una forma más separable. Luego de calentar la mezcla, la misma se puede lavar con agua y el poliéster puede ser separado fácilmente de las impurezas remanentes. A través del proceso de la presente, se puede separar y recuperar poliéster de materiales de desecho tales como aquellos que contienen cloruro de polivinilo y aluminio. El proceso también es efectivo para remover recubrimientos adheridos al poliéster y para remover compuestos orgánicos e inorgánicos de arrastre contenidos dentro del poliéster.
