  • This disclosure relates to terminal fittings.
  • Patent Document 1 discloses a terminal in which the core wire of an electric wire is inserted between upper and lower retaining protrusions formed on the terminal body, and a sliding portion is placed over the upper and lower retaining protrusions, thereby pressing the upper and lower retaining protrusions against the core wire.
  • the pressing force of the upper and lower retaining protrusions against the core wire ensures contact pressure between the terminal and the core wire.
  • the core wire may soften when it becomes hot, reducing the contact pressure between the terminal body and the core wire. Furthermore, when the terminal body and core wire are used in an environment with large temperature fluctuations, the difference in the linear expansion coefficients of copper and aluminum will cause the contact pressure between the terminal and the core wire to fluctuate.
  • the terminal fitting disclosed herein was developed based on the above circumstances, and aims to stabilize the contact pressure between the terminal fitting and the electric wire.
  • the terminal fitting of the present disclosure comprises: a terminal body having a pair of holding pieces arranged to sandwich a core wire of the electric wire; a slide member attached to the terminal body to displace the pair of holding pieces so as to approach each other, At least one of the pair of holding pieces has: an edge portion extending in a direction intersecting a circumferential direction of the core wire and capable of biting into the core wire; The edge portion defines a housing portion in the circumferential direction, the housing portion being capable of housing a portion of the core wire.
