画像転送システムは、所定の送り方向に相対移動するワークに対してライン光を照射する光源と、前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を取得する撮像装置と、前記撮像装置で取得された画像データに、所要の画像処理を施す画像処理装置と、前記画像データを、インターフェースを通して前記画像処理装置へ転送する転送装置と、を備える。前記転送装置は、前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知する処理と、前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域とする峻別の処理と、を実行し、前記必要領域の画像データを前記画像処理装置へ転送する。

Description

画像転送システムおよび画像転送方法
 本発明は、ワークにライン光が照射された画像を取得する撮像装置から、画像データを画像処理装置へ転送する画像転送システムおよび方法に関する。
 各種の光学計測の目的で、ワークにライン光を照射し、その画像を撮像する場合がある。例えば、ワークの高さ計測を光学的に行う光切断法では、ワークを測定光学系に対して相対移動させながらライン光を照射してスキャン撮像し、その撮像画像から三角測量の原理にてワークの高さを求める。
 光切断法では、一つのワークに対して多数回の撮像が必要となる。従って、計測の迅速化には、スキャンカメラの撮像速度を高速化するとともに、撮像により取得された画像データを、高さ計測演算のための画像処理を行う画像処理装置へ高速で転送することが肝要となる。撮像速度の高速化は、カメラに搭載されている撮像素子の高性能化を図ることで達成し得る。しかし、撮像装置と画像処理装置との間を繋ぐインターフェースの画像データ転送速度が、高速化された撮像速度に追従できないことがある。この場合、前記インターフェースがボトルネックとなって撮像素子の性能を生かせず、結果として計測の迅速化が図れない不具合が生じる。
 インターフェースの転送速度の高速化に限界があるならば、転送する画像データの量を減らす方策を取れば良い。特許文献1には、撮像センサの画素の読み出し範囲を定めるROI(Region Of Interest)を適宜に設定することで、計測に無用な領域の画像を取り込ませず、転送される画像データのサイズを抑制する装置が開示されている。しかし、ROI領域を小さくするほど、高さ計測の測定レンジが小さくなってしまう。測定レンジを拡げるにはROI領域を大きくするほかなく、結局、画像データのサイズを大幅には抑制できない。

 本発明の目的は、ワークにライン光が照射された画像を取得する撮像装置から、画像データを画像処理装置へ転送させるに際し、当該画像データのサイズを可及的に小さくできる画像転送システムおよび方法を提供することにある。
 本発明の一局面に係る画像転送システムは、所定の送り方向に相対移動するワークに対してライン光を照射する光源と、前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を取得する撮像装置と、前記撮像装置で取得された画像データに、所要の画像処理を施す画像処理装置と、前記画像データを、インターフェースを通して前記画像処理装置へ転送する転送装置と、を備え、前記転送装置は、前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知する処理と、前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域とする峻別の処理と、を実行し、前記必要領域の画像データを前記画像処理装置へ転送する。
 本発明の他の局面に係る画像転送方法は、所定の送り方向にワークを相対移動させつつ当該ワークにライン光を照射し、前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を撮像して得た画像データを、インターフェースを通して外部装置へ転送する画像転送方法であって、前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知し、前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域として峻別し、前記必要領域の画像データを前記外部装置へ転送する。

 以下、本発明の実施形態を、図面に基づいて詳細に説明する。本発明に係る画像転送システムおよび画像転送方法は、各種の工業製品、半製品、機械部品、電子部品、食品、農産物などの各種ワークを、計測等の目的のためにライン光を照射して画像を撮像し、取得された画像に所要の画像処理を施す各種の装置に適用できる。例えば、基板に実装された部品をワークとして、光切断法により当該部品の高さ計測を行う用途は、本発明の好ましい用途の一つである。以下の実施形態では、光切断法により部品の高さ計測を行う計測装置を想定して説明する。前記計測装置は、例えば、プリント基板に電子部品を実装する実装基板生産ラインに組み込まれ、前記プリント基板に電子部品が正しい位置に欠陥なく実装されているか否かを検査する外観検査機である。
 [装置構成]
 図1は、本実施形態に係る画像転送システム1のハード構成を簡略的に示す模式図である。画像転送システム1は、カメラユニット2、画像処理装置3および伝送ケーブル4(インターフェース)を含む。カメラユニット2は、ワークとしての部品Cの画像を撮像し、取得した画像データを画像処理装置3へ転送する。画像処理装置3は、転送された画像データに所要の画像処理を施す。伝送ケーブル4は、カメラユニット2と画像処理装置3とを電気通信可能に接続する。伝送ケーブル4としては、例えばカメラリンク規格(注:CameraLinkはAIAの登録商標である)に則った画像データ転送を実現するカメラリンクケーブルを用いることができる。
 カメラユニット2は、ライン光源21(光源)、カメラ22(撮像装置)および転送装置23を含む。ライン光源21は、部品Cに対してライン光SLを照射する。ライン光SLは、一方向に直線状に延びる光である。ライン光源21としては、レーザ光源と、当該レーザ光源が発するレーザ光を扇型に広がるスリット光に変換する光学部品とを含む光源装置を適用できる。部品Cは、図略の移動機構により所定のスキャン方向F(所定の送り方向)に相対移動される。従って、ライン光源21は、スキャン方向Fに移動する部品Cにライン光SLを照射する。
 カメラ22は、ライン光SLが照射された部品Cおよびその周辺の画像を取得する。すなわち、カメラ22は、ライン光SLの反射光RLを含む部品Cの部分画像を撮像する。カメラ22の撮像光軸は鉛直方向であるのに対し、ライン光源21から発せられるライン光SLの投影軸は斜め方向に設定されている。これらの軸配置は、光切断法により部品Cの三次元形状を計測するための配置である。カメラ22は、結像レンズ24と撮像センサ25とを含む。結像レンズ24は、反射光RLを含む光像を撮像センサ25の受光面に結像する。撮像センサ25は、CMOSセンサやCCDセンサなどの固体撮像素子であり、前記光像を画像データに光電変換する。
 転送装置23は、カメラ22により取得された画像データを、伝送ケーブル4を通して画像処理装置3へ転送する。転送装置23がカメラリンク規格に則った画像転送を行う場合、基準クロックで同期させた一定量(例えば28ビット)のバイナリ信号を用いて、同期信号と画像データとを含む画像信号が転送される。後記で詳述するが、転送装置23は、前記画像データの転送の際、カメラ22により取得された画像データの全てを転送するのではなく、画像データの不要領域を削除して転送する。
 画像処理装置3は、カメラユニット2により取得された部品Cの画像データに基づき、光切断法により部品Cの高さデータを求めるための画像処理を実行する。図1では、2台のカメラユニット2が画像処理装置3に接続されている例を示している。カメラユニット2は1台、もしくは3台以上としても良い。カメラユニット2と画像処理装置3とを繋ぐ伝送ケーブル4は、例えばLVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling)伝送方式で画像信号を伝送する。
 [光切断法による高さ計測]
 図2(A)~(C)を参照して、光切断法による部品Cの高さ計測について説明を加えておく。ここでの測定対象は、図2(A)に示す通り、基板Pの表面PSに実装された状態の部品C(ワーク)を例示している。既述の通り、カメラユニット2のカメラ22は、表面PSに対して鉛直方向に延びる撮像光軸AXを有し、部品Cの画像を撮像する。ライン光源21は、撮像光軸AXに対して所定の交差角θを持った投影光軸を有し、当該投影光軸に沿ってライン光SLを発する。ライン光SLは、測定対象の部品Cに照射される。
 図2(B)は、部品Cにライン光SLが照射される、あるスキャン位置SC1でカメラ22が取得する画像IMを示している。ライン光源21からライン光SLが部品Cを含む領域に照射されると、部品Cの周囲の基板Pの表面PSからの反射光RL1と、部品Cの上面からの反射光RL2とがカメラ22にて撮像される。ライン光SLが斜光であって部品Cが高さを持つので、画像IM上において、反射光RL1、RL2はX座標の異なる位置に観測される。具体的には、反射光RL1は座標x11に、反射光RL2は座標x11よりもスキャン方向下流側の座標x12に表れる。
 図2(A)の点P0にライン光SLが照射された場合を、計算上の高さ=0の地点と扱う。そうすると、図2(C)に示すように、交差角θを用いた三角測量の原理より、座標x11の高さはh1、座標x12の高さはh2という高さデータを得ることができる。以降、スキャン位置SC1からライン光源21およびカメラ22をスキャン方向下流側に移動させながら、スキャン位置SC2、SC3で順次カメラ22が撮像を行う。これにより、スキャン位置SC2では座標x21、x22の高さデータが、スキャン位置SC3では座標x31、x32の高さデータが取得される。言うまでもなく、実際のスキャンピッチは、図例よりも遙かに狭ピッチである。
 スキャンにより取得された複数の高さデータを統合することで、部品Cの三次元形状データを求めることができる。なお、一つのスキャン位置SC1、SC2、SC3で取得される高さデータは、反射光RL1、RL2が異なるX座標位置に照射された結果に基づく。このため、データ統合に際しては、例えばスキャン位置SC1において部品Cの領域で得られた座標x12の高さデータと、その後のスキャン位置で表面PSの領域で得られた座標x12の高さデータとを整合させる高さテーブルが作成される。
 [比較例の説明]
 図3は、比較例に係る画像転送システム1による画像転送処理を示すフローチャートである。まず、カメラユニット2のカメラ22が、撮像対象物としての部品Cを撮像する動作を行う(ステップS1)。この撮像動作は、ライン光源21から部品Cへのライン光SLの照射と、部品Cの周囲の基板Pの表面PSからの反射光RLを含む光像の撮像センサ25による撮像とを含む。撮像センサ25で光電変換された画像データ(輝度データ)は、所定のフレームレート(fps:Frames Per Second)で転送装置23へ掃き出される(ステップS2)。フレームレートは、カメラ22の撮像速度を決定する指標である。
 続いて、転送装置23から画像処理装置3へ画像データが出力される(ステップS3)。カメラリンク規格に則ったデータ転送では、転送装置23において同期信号および画像データを備えた画像信号の送信用データが生成され、伝送ケーブル4を通してLVDS伝送方式で前記画像信号が伝送される。
 前記画像信号は、画像処理装置3の画像入力回路で受信される(ステップS4)。画像処理装置3は、先に図2(B)および(C)で説明した原理を用い、転送された画像信号に所要の画像処理を施して部品Cの高さデータを求める(ステップS5)。例えば画像処理装置3は、図2(B)に例示したようなライン光SL1、SL2の反射光RL1、RL2を画像データ上で特定すると共に、反射光RL1、RL2の座標値を参照して、部品Cの高さデータを導出する。
 以上説明した光切断法では、1回の撮像で1つのライン光SLに基づいた高さデータしか得られない。部品Cの高さデータを高解像度で取得するには、撮像光学系に対して部品Cを小ピッチで相対移動させながら、多数回の撮像を行う必要がある。ラインスピードの高速化の要請から、基板検査等に費やす時間は短時間が望ましいので、当然ながら部品Cの高さ計測についても高速化が求められる。高さ計測の高速化は、カメラ22の撮像速度の高速化、つまり撮像センサ25のフレームレートの高速化で達成可能である。
 しかし、撮像センサ25のフレームレートの高速化に、カメラユニット2と画像処理装置3との間のインターフェースである伝送ケーブル4の転送速度が追従できないことある。つまり、伝送ケーブル4の転送速度がボトルネックとなって撮像センサ25の性能を生かせず、結果として高さ計測の高速化が図れない場合が生じている。
 図4は、比較例の画像転送方法の問題点を説明するための模式図である。図4では、画像処理装置3に、第1カメラユニット2Aと第2カメラユニット2Bとが、転送速度=1.0GB/secの伝送ケーブル4で接続されている例を示している。第1カメラユニット2Aが備える撮像センサ25は、1MBサイズのフレーム画像を1秒間に1000fpsで掃き出す能力を有している。すなわち、第1カメラユニット2Aは、1.0GB/secの画像データを出力可能である。一方、第2カメラユニット2B備える撮像センサ25は、1MBサイズのフレーム画像を1秒間に2000fpsで掃き出す能力を有し、2.0GB/secの画像データを出力可能である。
 伝送ケーブル4は、第1カメラユニット2Aからの出力レート(1.0GB/sec)に追従可能であるが、第2カメラユニット2Bの出力レート(2.0GB/sec)には追従できない。このため、第2カメラユニット2Bにおいては、1MB/2000fpsの撮像速度を有していながら、伝送ケーブル4の転送速度制限により、1MB/1000fpsしか転送できない不具合が生じる。
 [本実施形態の画像転送方法]
 本実施形態では、上述の不具合を解消し、部品Cの高さ計測の高速化を図るため、カメラ22での撮像で得られた画像データにつき、転送装置23において取得される画像データ毎に計測等に必須の必要領域と実質的に使用されない不要領域とを峻別する。そして、前記必要領域の画像データだけを、転送装置23から画像処理装置3などの外部装置へ転送させる。このような峻別転送を行うことで、転送される画像データサイズを必要最小限に抑制でき、インターフェースの画像データ転送速度の高速化が図れない場合でも、所要の画像データの高速転送を実現できる。
 図5は、本実施形態の画像転送方法を概略的に説明する模式図である。ここでは、図4に示した第2カメラユニット2B、画像処理装置3および伝送ケーブル4が示されている。上述の通り、第2カメラユニット2Bは、1MB/2000fpsの撮像速度を有している。本実施形態では、第2カメラユニット2Bの撮像速度を維持しつつ、伝送ケーブル4の転送速度にマッチするよう、転送装置23において画像データサイズを削減する。
 例えば、第2カメラユニット2Bの1回の撮像で得られるフレーム画像のデータサイズを、1MBから0.5MBに削減する処理を、画像データの転送前に転送装置23が実行する。削減される画像データは、上述の不要領域の画像データである。つまり、第2カメラユニット2Bを、0.5MBサイズのフレーム画像を1秒間に2000fpsで掃き出す撮像装置として活用する。これにより、第2カメラユニット2Bの出力レートは1.0GB/secとなり、伝送ケーブル4の転送速度にマッチさせることができる。従って、第2カメラユニット2Bの「2000fps」の撮像速度の能力を有効活用し、処理の高速化に貢献できる。
 画像データの不要領域について、光切断法に基づく撮像で取得される画像を例示して説明する。図6(A)は、光切断法による高さ計測の際に取得される1フレームの画像5を示す図である。この画像5は、先に図2(B)に例示した画像IMに対応している。画像5は、ライン光SLの反射光RLが観測されている照射領域51と、反射光RLが観測されていない暗部52とからなる。照射領域51は、ライン光SLの延伸方向であるX方向に長い長方形の領域である。図2(B)に基づき説明した通り、照射領域51は、部品Cの周囲からの反射光RL1と、部品Cの上面からの反射光RL2とに対応する位置に観測されている。
 図6(B)は、画像5の不要領域53を説明するための図である。画像5において、光切断法の高さ計測に必要となるのは、ライン光SLの照射領域51およびその隣接領域であり、その余の領域は高さ計測には用いられない。つまり、画像5のうち、照射領域51のY方向幅の一端と他端(図6では上端と下端)が確定できる最小限のY方向幅の領域が、高さ計測に用いられる必要領域である。画像5の前記必要領域以外の領域が不要領域53となる。すなわち、照射領域51もしくは前記必要領域の画像5における位置情報(座標値)が特定されていれば、画像5の前記必要領域以外の領域は使用されない不要領域53と扱える。
 不要領域53に対応する画像データを画像処理装置3に転送しても実質的に使用されることはないので、その転送自体を省いても差し支えない。従って、転送装置23において前記必要領域の画像データだけを画像処理装置3へ転送させ、不要領域53の画像データについては破棄させることで、転送する画像データサイズを必要最小限に抑制することが可能となる。
 図7は、本実施形態の画像転送方法の一例を示すフローチャートである。ステップS1、S2、S3、S4およびS5の処理は、先に図3のフローチャートに基づき説明した比較例のステップS1~S5と同様である。比較例と相違する点は、撮像センサ25から画像データを掃き出すステップS2と、転送装置23から画像信号を出力するステップS3との間に、転送装置23が、転送する画像データの削減処理(ステップS10)を実行する点である。
 転送装置23は、画像データの削減処理として、ステップS2で撮像センサ25からから吐き出された画像データにおいて、ライン光SLの反射光RLが観測されている照射領域51を探知する処理(ステップS11)と、照射領域51を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域53とする峻別の処理(ステップS12)と、を実行する。続くステップS3において転送装置23は、前記必要領域の画像データだけを画像処理装置3へ転送する。
 図8(A)~(C)は、転送される画像データの削減処理の一例を示す図である。図8(A)に示す画像5は、先に図6(B)で例示した画像5を援用している。ステップS11では、画像5においてライン光SLの照射領域51の延伸方向と直交するY方向の画素ライン毎に各画素の輝度値を評価することで、照射領域51の画像5上の位置情報、つまり座標値を求める。この輝度値の評価態様については、後記でいくつかの例を具体的に挙げる。
 ステップS12では、図8(A)に示すように、ステップS11で探知した照射領域51を含む画像5のY方向の所定幅の領域が、必要領域A1として特定される。必要領域A1は、典型的には照射領域51と、当該照射領域51を挟むY方向の所定幅の隣接領域とを含むように設定される。つまり、照射領域51がY方向の一対の隣接領域に挟まれた状態の画像が、必要領域A1の画像となる。このような必要領域A1の画像とすれば、明部となる照射領域51と暗部となる隣接領域との輝度コントラストに基づき、照射領域51の位置情報を正確に求め易くなる利点がある。
 必要領域A1が特定されたら、画像5の残部は不要領域53となる。画像5においてY方向を上下方向と扱うならば、必要領域A1の上側および下側に不要領域53が設定されることになる。不要領域53のXY方向幅は、照射領域51のXY位置に依存する。例えば、画像5のY方向中央に観測されている照射領域51の部分では、上側の不要領域53はY方向に狭幅となり、下側の不要領域53は相対的にY方向に広幅となる。仮に、計測対象の部品CがX方向にドーム型の三次元形状を有していれば、Y方向中央の照射領域51は、画像5において円弧状に観測される。この場合、上下の不要領域53は図8(A)のような矩形状とはならず、上側の不要領域53は円弧状の窪みを、下側の不要領域53は円弧状の膨らみを有する形態となる。
 図8(B)は、転送装置23から画像処理装置3へ転送される画像を模式的に示している。転送画像は、全体の画像5のうち、必要領域A1に相当する画像だけとなる。例えば、画像5のY方向の全画像幅A2が100画素で構成され、必要領域A1のY方向が10画素で構成されていれば、転送する画像データサイズを約1/10に削減できることになる。なお、必要領域A1には、当該必要領域A1の位置情報を示すデータとして、ライン光SLの照射領域51もしくは必要領域A1の座標値が添付される。この座標値は、必要領域A1が画像5のY方向においてどの位置から切り出されたかを示す情報として、画像処理装置3で活用される。
 図8(C)は、ステップS11、S12の処理後に、転送装置23から画像処理装置3へ転送される画像信号Dを模式的に示す図である。画像信号Dは、画像データdaとして必要領域A1の画像を構成する画素の輝度データd1~d5と、照射領域51もしくは必要領域A1の座標値を示す座標データD1とを含んでいる。座標データD1は、前記座標値を0~255から選ばれる輝度データに置換したデータとされる。座標データD1の転送には、例えば1~4画素分のビットが割り当てられる。
 座標データD1を含ませることで、画像5上のどの座標領域がライン光SLを感知したかの情報が転送されるので、照射領域51の画像上の位置が直ちに把握でき、画像処理装置3において高さ計測の処理を迅速に行える。また、画像データdaを転送するチャンネルのビットを利用して、照射領域51または必要領域A1の位置情報を転送できるので、当該位置情報を転送する別個のチャンネルやインターフェースを確保せず済む。
 転送する画像データサイズを削減する既存の方法として、撮像素子の画素の読み出し範囲を定めるROIを小さく設定する方法がある。ROIを小さく設定するほど、1フレーム画像の画像データサイズを抑制できる。しかし、ROIを小さくするほど、高さ計測の測定レンジが小さくなってしまう。図8(A)の画像5を例に挙げると、Y方向の中央付近だけを読み出すようなROIを設定すると、X方向の中央に位置する照射領域51を検出できなくなる。測定レンジを縮小させないためには、ROIを大きく設定する必要があり、結局は画像データサイズを大幅には抑制できない。これに対し、上述の本実施形態によれば、画像5におけるライン光の照射領域51を探知した上で、照射領域51を含む必要領域A1と、それ以外の不要領域53とが峻別される。従って、測定レンジを縮小することなく、画像データサイズを抑制できる。
 [画像転送システムの構成]
 図9は、部品Cの高さ計測に適用される画像転送システム1の構成を示すブロック図である。画像転送システム1は、既述の通りライン光源21、カメラ22および転送装置23を含むカメラユニット2と、画像処理装置3とを含む。転送装置23と画像処理装置3とは、伝送ケーブル4にて電気通信可能に接続されている。既述の通り、カメラリンク規格に基づくデータ転送を行わせる場合、伝送ケーブル4としてカメラリンクケーブルが用いられ、両者がLVDS通信可能に接続される。なお、カメラリンク規格とは別のデータ転送規格、例えばCoaXPressやUSB3.0に基づいたインターフェースを採用しても良い。ここでは、転送装置23がカメラリンク規格でデータ転送を行う例を示す。
 カメラ22は、ライン光源21が発するライン光SLの照明下、スキャン方向Fに相対移動する部品Cの画像を撮像する。転送装置23は、基準クロックで同期させた一定量のバイナリ信号を用いて、同期信号とカメラ22により取得された画像データとを含む画像信号を出力する機能を有する。転送装置23は、伝送ケーブル4を介して前記画像信号を画像処理装置3へ転送する。
 転送装置23は、機能的に画像入力回路26、照射領域特定部27、必要領域設定部28および画像出力回路29を含む。画像入力回路26は、カメラ22の撮像センサ25(図1)から所定のフレームレートで出力される画像データを受け入れる。また、画像入力回路26は、カメラリンク規格に基づき、同期信号を生成すると共に、基準クロックの周期単位で、所定数のテータビットに画像データとしての輝度データを配置する。
 照射領域特定部27は、図8(A)に例示した画像5の画像データに対して所定の処理を施し、図7のステップS11に示した照射領域51を探知する処理を行う。図8(C)に例示したように、探知された照射領域51の座標値は、輝度データに変換して、画像データを配置するデータビットの空きビットに組み入れられる。必要領域設定部28は、ステップS12に示した峻別の処理を実行する。必要領域設定部28は、照射領域51を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域A1、必要領域A1以外を不要領域53として峻別し、不要領域53の画像データについては破棄する処理を行う。画像出力回路29は、同期信号と、必要領域A1に相当する画像データおよび座標値データを含む画像信号を、LVDS通信が可能な信号に変換して出力する。
 画像処理装置3は、画像入力回路31、画像メモリ32、画像処理部33および高さ算出部34を備える。画像入力回路31は、LVDS通信のデシリアライザ回路であって、転送装置23から転送された同期信号および画像信号を受け取る。画像メモリ32は、転送された画像信号を一時的に記憶する。画像処理部33は、画像メモリ32に適時アクセスし、ライン光SLに対応する照射領域51の位置を特定する処理を行う。高さ算出部34は、画像5上で特定された複数の照射領域51の位置関係に基づき、光切断法により部品Cの高さデータを求める処理を実行する。
 [必要領域と不要領域との峻別処理の具体例]
 <第1実施例>
 図10は、1本の画素ラインGLにおける必要領域A1と不要領域53との峻別処理の第1実施例を示す模式図である。この峻別処理は、大半が暗部52で占められている画像5に含まれるライン光SLの照射領域51を探知する処理でもある。照射領域特定部27が実行する照射領域51を探知する処理は、Y方向の画素ラインGL毎に順次行われる。画素ラインGLは、ライン光SLの延伸方向(X方向)と直交する方向の画素ラインである。この点は、後述する第2実施例、第3実施例でも同様である。
 画像5を構成するXYの画素マトリクスにおいて、1本のY方向の画素ラインGLに注目する。画素ラインGLは、輝度値の比較的小さい暗部52と、暗部52に比べて輝度値が明白に大きい明部からなる照射領域51とを含む。ライン光SLはX方向に延びる細長い光であるので、通常は1本の画素ラインGLの1箇所に狭幅で現れる。第1実施例の峻別処理では、画素ラインGLのY方向幅よりも狭い一定の抽出幅のN画素から構成される抽出エリアSAを設定する。第1実施例では、この抽出エリアSAが必要領域A1を定めることになる。照射領域特定部27は、抽出エリアSAを画素ラインGLに沿ってシフトさせながら、抽出エリアSA内に存在する画素群の輝度データの合計値を求める演算を行う。
 抽出エリアSAをシフトさせる範囲は、画素ラインGLの始端から終端の範囲である。図10の例では、画素ラインGLの上端から下端まで、1画素ずつ抽出エリアSAをシフトさせつつ、抽出エリアSA内に存在する画素群の輝度データの合計値を求める処理を行う。そして、前記合計値が最大となった抽出エリアSAの、画素ラインGL上の位置に基づいて、照射領域51の位置を探知する。
 図10の例によれば、位置(a)では抽出エリアSAは照射領域51を包含せず暗部52だけをカバーしているので、輝度データの合計値は小さい値となる。抽出エリアSAの下方へのシフトが進んだ位置(b)では、抽出エリアSAが照射領域51の一部に差し掛かっている。このため合計値は位置(a)よりも位置(b)の方が大きくなる。さらにシフトが進んだ位置(c)では、抽出エリアSAが照射領域51の全てを包含している。当然、位置(c)の輝度データの合計値は位置(a)、(b)よりも大きく、最大値を示すことになる。この結果から、位置(c)の抽出エリアSA内に照射領域51が存在していることが探知できる。
 位置(c)が輝度データの合計値が最大となる位置であることが確定したら、照射領域特定部27は、抽出エリアSAの上端の座標を、必要領域A1の上端を示す位置情報と扱う。例えば、必要領域A1の上端が画像5における10行目の画素位置であれば、座標値=10を必要領域A1の座標データとする。これに代えて、必要領域A1の下端の画素位置を座標データとしても良い。
 第1実施例では、必要領域A1のY方向幅に相当する抽出エリアSAを設定して照射領域51を探知する。このため、照射領域51の探知が完了すれば、必要領域A1が自ずと特定されることになる。従って、必要領域設定部28は、位置(c)の抽出エリアSAを必要領域A1として抽出し、この必要領域A1以外の領域を不要領域53と扱う。画像出力回路29から出力される画像データは、位置(c)の抽出エリアSAに含まれる照射領域51および暗部52の輝度データと、一例として示す座標値=10との座標データを輝度データに変換した位置データとなる。
 <第2実施例>
 図11は、前記峻別処理の第2実施例を示す模式図である。第2実施例では、画素ラインGLごとに、明るさが最大となる位置を探知することで、照射領域51の位置を特定する。すなわち、照射領域特定部27は、一つの画素ラインGLを構成する画素の輝度値をチェックし、輝度値が最大となる最大画素の位置を探知する。
 ライン光SLはY方向の幅員内において均等な光強度を持つのではなく、ガウス分布の光強度を有する。このため、一般に照射領域51のY方向の中心が最も明るくなる。従って、前記最大画素の位置を探知すれば、照射領域51のY方向中心位置が求められ、結果として照射領域51が探知できることになる。なお、前記最大画素がY方向に連続して複数探知された場合は、それら画素列のY方向中央を、照射領域51の中心座標値と扱うことができる。
 必要領域設定部28は、前記最大画素の位置を中心とする所定幅を、必要領域A1として特定する。例えば、予め必要領域A1のY方向幅に相当するN画素を定めておき、前記最大画素の位置を中心とするN画素の領域を、必要領域A1として特定する。当然、N画素の幅は、画素ラインGLのY方向幅よりも狭い幅である。このN画素は、第1実施例の抽出エリアSAを定めるN画素と同数としても良い。なお、N画素の画素数の設定についての詳細例は、後記で説明する。
 必要領域設定部28は、上記で特定した必要領域A1を転送すべきデータ領域として抽出し、この必要領域A1以外の領域を不要領域53と扱う。特定された必要領域A1の上端もしくは下端が、当該必要領域A1の座標データとされる。画像出力回路29から出力される画像データは、必要領域A1内の照射領域51および暗部52の輝度データと、前記座標データを輝度データに変換した位置データとなる。なお、座標データは、必要領域A1の画像データの始端側(図では上側)また終端側(下側)の何れに配置しても良い。また、座標データを配置用に割り当てられたデータビットに他のデータ:例えばエラーを示すデータ、何らかの位置情報を示すデータ、動作フラグを示すデータ等を配置しても良い。第2実施例によれば、単純に画素ラインGL毎に輝度データの最大値を探知することで照射領域51の位置座標を特定するので、照射領域51の探知処理を簡素化できる。
 <第3実施例>
 図12は、前記峻別処理の第3実施例を示す模式図である。第3実施例では、画素ラインGLごとに、高輝度部と低輝度部と分け、観測された前記高輝度部のうち、画素ラインGLに沿う幅が最大となる最大高輝度部の位置に基づいて、照射領域51の位置を特定する。
 具体的には照射領域特定部27は、画素ラインGLを構成する各画素の輝度値をチェックし、所定の閾値を用いて高輝度部51A、51Bと低輝度部52Aとに二値化する。閾値の設定度合いや、他の光源の光が入り込んだ場合には、図12に例示するように、複数の高輝度部51A、51Bが検出される場合がある。このような場合を想定して、照射領域特定部27は、二値化面積を参照する。照射領域特定部27は、複数の高輝度部51A、51Bのうち、画素ラインGLに沿うY方向幅が最大となる最大高輝度部51Aの領域を、照射領域51として特定する。さらに、必要領域設定部28は、最大高輝度部51AのY方向中央位置を中心とするN画素の幅を、必要領域A1として特定する。
 必要領域設定部28は、上記で特定した必要領域A1を転送すべきデータ領域として抽出し、この必要領域A1以外の領域を不要領域53と峻別する処理を行う。特定された必要領域A1の上端もしくは下端が、当該必要領域A1の座標データとされる点は、第1、第2実施例と同じである。画像出力回路29から出力される画像データは、必要領域A1内の照射領域51および暗部52の輝度データと、前記座標データを輝度データに変換した位置データとなる。もちろん、転送される輝度データは、二値化処理を施す前のデータである。第3実施例によれば、高輝度部と低輝度部との二値化、高輝度部のY方向幅の評価、および最大高輝度部の位置の特定というプロセスを経て、的確に照射領域51を特定できる。
 [複数のライン光の候補が検出されたときの処理]
 ライン光SLは、1本の直線光であるので、1本の画素ラインGLには1カ所の照射領域51しか観測されないはずである。しかし、実際の計測では、第3実施例でも例示したように、何らかの原因で1本の画素ラインGLに照射領域51としての要件を満たす領域、つまり照射領域51の候補が複数探知されることがある。この場合、複数の候補から一つの照射領域51を選択しないと、高さ計測が行えない。照射領域51の候補が複数探知された場合、以下に示す次段処理から選ばれる一つの処理を実行することができる。
・処理A)予め定めた選択処理でいずれか一つの照射領域51を選択する。
・処理B)照射領域51を探知する処理を再度実行する。
・処理C)照射領域51が複数探知された画像データをそのまま転送する。
 上掲の処理Aとしては、手動による選択設定と、予め定めたアルゴリズムを用いた自動選択設定とを例示することができる。図13は、ライン光SLの照射領域51の候補が複数検出されたときの、手動による選択設定例を示す図である。図13の(A)図に示すように、例えば上述の第1~第3実施例の輝度値に基づく峻別処理の実行で、1本の画素ラインGLに、三つのライン光候補51a、51b、51cが探知され、残部が暗部52であるとの結果が得られた場合を想定する。
 画素ラインGLの始端が図の上端であるとして、上端から下端に向けて画素の輝度値がチェックされるものとする。この場合、三つのライン光候補51a、51b、51cは、51a→51b→51cの順で探知されることになる。手動による選択設定では、図13の(B)図に示すように、最初に探知されるライン光候補51aを照射領域51として選択することを事前に設定する。あるいは、図13の(C)図に示すように、最後に探知されるライン光候補51cを照射領域51として選択することを事前に設定する。このような手動設定によれば、照射領域51の候補が複数検出された場合の選択処理を簡素化することができる。
 上述の第1~第3実施例の峻別処理において、あえて複数の照射領域51の候補を探知し易い設定とすることもできる。第1実施例ならば、抽出エリアSAの輝度データの合計が最大値M1になる画素ラインGL上の位置が探知されたとして、輝度データの合計値が(最大値M1-係数R)の範囲に収まる他の抽出エリアSAの位置も含めて、照射領域51の候補とする。なお、係数Rは、ユーザが経験値等に基づき任意に設定する値、もしくは最大値M1に対する所定の割合で設定される値である。
 そして、これらの複数の候補から、上述の手動による選択設定、もしくは次述の自動選択設定の手法を適用して、一つの照射領域51を特定する。このような手段を用いれば、照射領域51の特定精度を向上させることが可能となる。同様に、第2実施例であれば、輝度値が最大値M2となる最大画素の位置が探知されたとして、輝度値が(最大値M2-係数R)の範囲に収まる他の画素の位置も含めて、照射領域51の候補とする。第3実施例であれば、二値化面積が最大値M3となる高輝度部の位置が探知されたとして、二値化面積が(最大値M3-係数R)の範囲に収まる他の高輝度部の位置も含めて、照射領域51の候補とする。
 図14(A)および(B)は、ライン光SLの照射領域51の候補が複数検出されたときの、自動選択設定例を示す図である。図14(A)には、照射領域51の検出対象に隣接する画素ラインの結果を参照する例が示されている。図14(A)では、検出対象の画素ラインGLに、二つのライン光候補51a、51bが探知された例を挙げている。この場合、同一の画像における、画素ラインGLに隣接する画素ラインGLaでの照射領域51の特定結果を参照する。そして、二つのライン光候補51a、51bのうち、隣接する画素ラインGLaの照射領域51に近い方を自動選択する。これは、隣接する画素ラインGL、GLa間で、通常は大幅に照射領域51の位置が変化することはないことを根拠とした選択処理である。図14(A)の例では、隣接画素ラインGLaの照射領域51に近いライン光候補51bが照射領域51として選択される。
 図14(B)には、光切断法で順次撮像される1回前の撮像の結果を参照する例が示されている。図14(B)でも、検出対象の画素ラインGLに、二つのライン光候補51a、51bが探知された例を挙げている。この場合、前回の撮像で取得された画像における、検出対象の画素ラインGLと同一の画素ラインGLbでの照射領域51の特定結果を参照する。そして、二つのライン光候補51a、51bのうち、隣接する画素ラインGLbの照射領域51に近い方を自動選択する。これは、狭ピッチでの撮像が行われる光切断法の前後の画像同士において、同一の画素ラインGL、GLb間で、通常は大幅に照射領域51の位置が変化することはないことを根拠とした選択処理である。図14(B)の例では、隣接画素ラインGLbの照射領域51に近いライン光候補51aが照射領域51として選択される。
 上掲の処理Bは、ある一つの峻別処理で、一本の画素ラインGLにつき複数の照射領域51の候補が探知された場合に、別の峻別処理で当該画素ラインGLの照射領域51を探知させる手法である。具体的には、図10~図12に例示した、1本の画素ラインGLにおける必要領域A1の峻別処理の第1~第3実施例のアルゴリズムのいずれか一つで複数の候補が探知されたとき、他の実施例のアルゴリズムを採用して照射領域51を探知する処理を再度実行する。
 例えば、図10の第1実施例を用いた峻別処理で一本の画素ラインGLにつき複数の照射領域51の候補が探知された場合にだけ、図11の第2実施例もしくは図12の第3実施例を用いた峻別処理を用いて、当該画素ラインGLについて照射領域51を探知する処理を再度実行する。再度の峻別処理でも複数の照射領域51の候補が探知されてしまう場合は、上記の手動選択設定もしくは自動選択設定の手法を適用して、一つの照射領域51を特定する。
 上掲の処理Cは、照射領域51が複数探知された画像データをそのまま画像処理装置3へ転送し、画像処理装置3側に処理を委ねる手法である。図15の(A)図および(B)図に示すように、1本の画素ラインGLに、二つのライン光候補51a、51bが探知されたとする。この場合、当該画素ラインGLについての照射領域51の特定並びに必要領域A1の特定を行わず、つまりデータ削減処理を行わず、全画像幅A2の画素の画像データをそのまま転送する。
 但し、データ削減処理を行っていない画素ラインGLであることが画像処理装置3側で識別できるよう、座標データ54として、データ削減されている画素ラインの座標データと区別可能なユニークな輝度データXを添付する。図15の(A)図は、全画像幅A2の画像データの始端側に座標データ54を配置した例を示している。一方、図15の(B)図は、全画像幅A2の画像データの終端側に座標データ54を配置する例を示している。この場合、データ削減されている画素ラインとの整合性の要請から、画素ラインGLの上端からN画素分の画像データの次に座標データ54が配置される。
 [必要領域の幅を定めるN画素の設定方法について]
 上述の第1~第3実施例の峻別処理において、画素ラインGLにおける必要領域A1のY方向幅を定めるN画素(図10~図12参照)の画素数は、ユーザが任意に設定できる態様としても良いし、所定の設定基準に基づき自動設定される態様としても良い。
 自動設定とする態様の一例を挙げると、転送装置23に、カメラ22が備える撮像センサ25の最大フレームレートと、伝送ケーブル4(インターフェース)の最大転送速度とを参照させる。そして、転送するデータサイズが、前記最大転送速度により定まる転送サイズ以下となるような画素数を求め、当該画素数を必要領域A1の幅を定めるN画素として設定する。このような自動設定を採用することで、撮像センサ25の最大フレームレートと、インターフェースの最大転送速度とを考慮し、画像データの高速転送が可能な範囲の画素数を有する必要領域A1を設定できる。
 続いて、上記自動設定の具体例を示す。転送装置23は、撮像センサ25の最大フレームレートと伝送ケーブル4の最大転送速度との差を自動計測して、最適なNの値を決定する処理を行う。前記処理は、以下の手順1~4で行うことができる。
<手順1>カメラ22の撮像センサ25の露光時間およびROIを、光切断法による部品Cの撮像に適した条件に設定する。ROIの設定で定まる画像の幅をW、画像の高さをHとする。なお、Hは画素ラインGLのY方向幅に相当する。
<手順2>上記手順1の条件でカメラ22が撮像を行ったときの、撮像センサ25の最大フレームレートFPSを計算する。
<手順3>手順2で求めたFPSで撮像を行ったときの、1秒当たりのデータサイズが、伝送ケーブル4の最大転送速度で定まる転送サイズCsよりも小さくなる係数ANを求める。この際、必要領域A1の座標データを配置するデータビット数Daも考慮する。係数ANは次式で求められる。
  H×W×FPS×AN=Cs-Da×W×FPS
  AN=(Cs-Da×W×FPS)/(H×W×FPS)
<手順4>次式の通り、係数ANをROIの高さHに乗じ、少数点以下を切り捨てた値を、必要領域A1のY方向幅を定める画素数=Nとする。

 [N画素にライン光が収まらない場合の処理]
 部品Cの撮像中に、N画素(図10~図12参照)の範囲に、ライン光SLの照射領域51が収まらないケースが生じ得る。例えば、周辺の照明光が映り込んだり、何らかの閃光が生じたりすると、上記のケースが起こり得る。あるいは、ユーザがN画素の設定数を誤っている場合も想定される。この点に鑑み、転送装置23に、予め定めたN画素の必要領域A1の範囲内に照射領域51が収まっているか否かを判定する処理を実行させることが望ましい。
 峻別処理の第1実施例(図10)が採用される場合の前記判定処理は、抽出エリアSA輝度データ合計値が、当該画素ラインGLにおいて検出された輝度データ合計値の最大値のV%となるシフト位置の長さを検出する処理で行える。Vの値は、ユーザが適宜設定する閾値とする。輝度データ合計値がV%以上の値となる抽出エリアSAのシフト位置が、N画素以上連続して観測された場合に、必要領域A1内に照射領域51が収まっていないと判定する。第2実施例(図11)の場合は、最大輝度値のV%の輝度値を持つ画素がN画素以上連続して観測された場合に、必要領域A1内に照射領域51が収まっていないと判定する。第3実施例(図12)の場合は、最大高輝度部51AのY方向幅がN画素を超過している場合に、必要領域A1内に照射領域51が収まっていないと判定する。
 照射領域51がN画素幅の必要領域A1内に収まっていない場合、図16に示すように、転送装置23は画像データにエラーコードを添付して画像処理装置3へ転送する。図16には、1本の画素ラインGLにおいて、N画素よりも大きい幅を有するライン光候補51nが探知された例が示されている。この場合、転送データのうち画像データ用のデータビットA1nには、任意の輝度データが配置される。例えば、輝度値=0の輝度データやランダムな輝度データをデータビットA1nに配置する。そして、座標データ54として、エラーコードを輝度データに変換したユニークなデータを配置する。このように、エラーコードを添付して画像データの転送を行わせることで、画像処理装置3側で適切な後処理を行わせることが可能となる。
 転送装置23が、照射領域51が必要領域A1内に収まっていないとの判定をした場合、当該転送装置23に適宜な対処処理を行わせることが望ましい。例えば、転送装置23に、次回の撮像から自動的に必要領域A1を定める画素数=Nを拡張する処理を実行させる。上記の判定処理で検出されたV%以上の値の領域の画素数を新たなN値として設定しても良い。このような対処処理の実行により、照射領域51と必要領域A1との関係を適正化でき、照射領域51の位置を正確に特定できる。
 [上記実施形態に含まれる発明]
 以上説明した実施形態には、以下の構成を有する発明が含まれている。
 本発明の一局面に係る画像転送システムは、所定の送り方向に相対移動するワークに対してライン光を照射する光源と、前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を取得する撮像装置と、前記撮像装置で取得された画像データに、所要の画像処理を施す画像処理装置と、前記画像データを、インターフェースを通して前記画像処理装置へ転送する転送装置と、を備え、前記転送装置は、前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知する処理と、前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域とする峻別の処理と、を実行し、前記必要領域の画像データを前記画像処理装置へ転送する。
 本発明の他の局面に係る画像転送方法は、所定の送り方向にワークを相対移動させつつ当該ワークにライン光を照射し、前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を撮像して得た画像データを、インターフェースを通して外部装置へ転送する画像転送方法であって、前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知し、前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域として峻別し、前記必要領域の画像データを前記外部装置へ転送する。
 上記の画像転送システムまたは画像転送方法によれば、取得された画像データにおいてライン光の照射領域を探知した上で、前記照射領域を含む必要領域と、それ以外の不要領域とが峻別される。そして、前記必要領域の画像データだけが画像処理装置ないしは外部装置へ転送される。つまり、ROIのように撮像範囲を当初から制限するのではなく、取得される画像データ毎に前記必要領域を見極めて転送する。これにより、計測等のための画像処理に欠かせない画像データは画像処理装置へ転送される一方で、不要領域の分の画像データについては転送されず、実質的に破棄される。従って、画像データサイズを必要最小限に抑制でき、インターフェースの画像データ転送速度の高速化が図れない場合でも、所要の画像データの高速転送を実現できる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記画像処理装置は、光切断法により前記ワークの高さデータを求めるための画像処理を実行することが望ましい。
 この態様によれば、撮像装置で取得される画像データ毎に、光切断法による高さデータの演算に必要な画像データだけが画像処理装置へ転送される。このため、撮像速度の高速化に対応した画像データの転送が可能となり、高さデータ計測の迅速化に貢献できる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記必要領域は、前記照射領域と、当該照射領域を挟む所定幅の隣接領域とを含むように設定されることが望ましい。
 この態様によれば、照射領域が隣接領域に挟まれた状態の画像が、必要領域の画像となる。つまり、照射領域と隣接領域との輝度コントラストに基づき、前記照射領域の位置情報を正確に求め易くなる。従って、計測等の精度を向上させることができる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、前記画像データとして前記必要領域の画像を構成する画素の輝度データを転送するとともに、前記照射領域または前記必要領域の位置情報を輝度データに置換して転送することが望ましい。
 この態様によれば、照射領域または必要領域の位置情報、つまり画像上のどの座標領域がライン光を感知したかの情報が転送されるので、ライン光の画像上の位置が直ちに把握でき、計測等の処理を迅速に行える。また、画像データとしての輝度データを転送するチャンネルのビットを利用して、照射領域または必要領域の位置情報を転送できるので、当該位置情報を転送する別個のチャンネルやインターフェースを確保せず済む。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置が実行する前記照射領域を探知する処理は、前記画像データの前記ライン光の延伸方向と直交する方向の画素ラインの幅よりも狭い一定の抽出幅を設定し、前記抽出幅内に存在する画素群の輝度データの合計値を求める演算を、前記画素ラインの始端から終端の範囲で前記抽出幅をシフトさせつつ実行し、前記合計値が最大となる前記抽出幅の前記画素ライン上の位置に基づいて、前記照射領域の位置座標を特定する処理を含んでいても良い。
 この態様によれば、抽出幅内に存在する画素群の輝度データの合計値を、前記抽出幅をシフトさせつつ求めてゆく手法であるので、画像データ中から照射領域の位置を確実に探知することができる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、前記照射領域を探知する処理として、前記画像データの前記ライン光の延伸方向と直交する方向の画素ラインについて、当該画素ラインを構成する画素の輝度データを探知し、前記輝度データの値が最大となる最大画素の位置に基づいて、前記照射領域の位置座標を特定する処理を実行し、前記峻別の処理として、前記最大画素を中心とする所定幅を、前記必要領域として特定する処理を実行しても良い。
 この態様によれば、単純に画素ライン毎に輝度データの最大値を探知することで照射領域の位置座標を特定するので、照射領域の特定処理の簡素化が可能となる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、前記照射領域を探知する処理として、前記画像データの前記ライン光の延伸方向と直交する方向の画素ラインについて、当該画素ラインを構成する画素の輝度データを所定の閾値を用いて高輝度部と低輝度部とに二値化し、前記高輝度部のうち、前記画素ラインに沿う幅が最大となる最大高輝度部の位置に基づいて、前記照射領域の位置座標を特定し、前記峻別の処理として、前記最大高輝度部の中央位置を中心とする所定幅を、前記必要領域として特定する処理を実行しても良い。
 この態様によれば、高輝度部と低輝度部との二値化、高輝度部の幅の評価、および最大高輝度部の位置の特定というプロセスを経て、的確に照射領域を特定できる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、一つの画素ラインに前記照射領域の候補が複数探知された場合、予め定めた選択処理でいずれか一つの照射領域を選択する、前記照射領域を探知する処理を再度実行する、もしくは、前記照射領域が複数探知された画像データをそのまま転送する、から選ばれる一つの処理を実行することが望ましい。
 通常、ライン光は一本の線状光であるが、実際の処理では、照射領域としての要件を満たす領域が複数探知されることがある。上記の態様によれば、前記照射領域が複数探知された場合に、適切な次段処理を実行させることができる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、前記画像データにおいて、予め定めた前記必要領域内に前記照射領域が収まっているか否かを判定する処理を実行し、前記照射領域が前記必要領域内に収まっていない場合、当該画像データにエラーコードを添付して前記画像処理装置へ転送しても良い。
 必要領域内に照射領域が収まっていない場合、当該照射領域のエッジが不明となるため、正確に照射領域の位置を特定することが困難となる。上記の態様によれば、このような場合にエラーコードを添付して画像データの転送が行われるので、画像処理装置側で適切な処理を行わせることができる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、前記照射領域が前記必要領域内に収まっていないと判定している場合、前記必要領域を拡張する処理を実行することが望ましい。これにより、照射領域と必要領域との関係を適正化でき、前記照射領域の位置を正確に特定できる。
 上記の画像転送システムにおいて、前記転送装置は、前記撮像装置が備える撮像センサの最大フレームレートと、前記インターフェースの最大転送速度とを参照し、転送するデータサイズが、前記最大転送速度により定まる転送サイズ以下となるような画素数を求めることで、前記必要領域の幅を設定しても良い。
 この態様によれば、撮像センサの最大フレームレートと、インターフェースの最大転送速度とを考慮し、画像データの高速転送が可能な画素数を有する必要領域を設定できる。

  1.  所定の送り方向に相対移動するワークに対してライン光を照射する光源と、
     前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を取得する撮像装置と、
     前記撮像装置で取得された画像データに、所要の画像処理を施す画像処理装置と、
     前記画像データを、インターフェースを通して前記画像処理装置へ転送する転送装置と、を備え、
     前記転送装置は、
      前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知する処理と、
      前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域とする峻別の処理と、を実行し、
      前記必要領域の画像データを前記画像処理装置へ転送する、画像転送システム。
  2.  請求項1に記載の画像転送システムにおいて、
     前記画像処理装置は、光切断法により前記ワークの高さデータを求めるための画像処理を実行する、画像転送システム。

     前記転送装置が実行する前記照射領域を探知する処理は、
      前記画像データの前記ライン光の延伸方向と直交する方向の画素ラインの幅よりも狭い一定の抽出幅を設定し、
      前記抽出幅内に存在する画素群の輝度データの合計値を求める演算を、前記画素ラインの始端から終端の範囲で前記抽出幅をシフトさせつつ実行し、
      前記合計値が最大となる前記抽出幅の前記画素ライン上の位置に基づいて、前記照射領域の位置座標を特定する処理を含む、画像転送システム。

      前記輝度データの値が最大となる最大画素の位置に基づいて、前記照射領域の位置座標を特定する処理を実行し、
      前記峻別の処理として、前記最大画素を中心とする所定幅を、前記必要領域として特定する処理を実行する、画像転送システム。
  7.  請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の画像転送システムにおいて、
     前記転送装置は、前記照射領域を探知する処理として、
      前記画像データの前記ライン光の延伸方向と直交する方向の画素ラインについて、当該画素ラインを構成する画素の輝度データを所定の閾値を用いて高輝度部と低輝度部とに二値化し、
      前記高輝度部のうち、前記画素ラインに沿う幅が最大となる最大高輝度部の位置に基づいて、前記照射領域の位置座標を特定し、
      前記峻別の処理として、前記最大高輝度部の中央位置を中心とする所定幅を、前記必要領域として特定する処理を実行する、画像転送システム。
  8.  請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の画像転送システムにおいて、
     前記転送装置は、一つの画素ラインに前記照射領域の候補が複数探知された場合、予め定めた選択処理でいずれか一つの照射領域を選択する、前記照射領域を探知する処理を再度実行する、もしくは、前記照射領域が複数探知された画像データをそのまま転送する、から選ばれる一つの処理を実行する、画像転送システム。
  9.  請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の画像転送システムにおいて、
     前記転送装置は、前記画像データにおいて、予め定めた前記必要領域内に前記照射領域が収まっているか否かを判定する処理を実行し、
     前記照射領域が前記必要領域内に収まっていない場合、当該画像データにエラーコードを添付して前記画像処理装置へ転送する、画像転送システム。
  10.  請求項9に記載の画像転送システムにおいて、
     前記転送装置は、前記照射領域が前記必要領域内に収まっていないと判定している場合、前記必要領域を拡張する処理を実行する、画像転送システム。
  11.  請求項1~4のいずれか1項に記載の画像転送システムにおいて、
     前記転送装置は、前記撮像装置が備える撮像センサの最大フレームレートと、前記インターフェースの最大転送速度とを参照し、転送するデータサイズが、前記最大転送速度により定まる転送サイズ以下となるような画素数を求めることで、前記必要領域の幅を設定する、画像転送システム。
  12.  所定の送り方向にワークを相対移動させつつ当該ワークにライン光を照射し、
     前記ライン光が照射された前記ワークおよびその周辺の画像を撮像して得た画像データを、インターフェースを通して外部装置へ転送する画像転送方法であって、
     前記画像データにおいて、前記ライン光の反射光が観測されている照射領域を探知し、
     前記照射領域を含む所定幅の領域を必要領域とし、前記必要領域以外を不要領域として峻別し、
     前記必要領域の画像データを前記外部装置へ転送する、画像転送方法。
