Definitions
- the present invention relates to an oil-in-water emulsion composition.
- the stratum corneum which is the outermost layer of the skin, contains lipids called intercellular lipids in the gaps between the keratinocytes. Ceramides, which account for about 50% of the intercellular lipids, are deeply involved in rough and dry skin, and it is known that the condition of the stratum corneum can be improved by topical supplementation of ceramides.
- solid fats such as ceramides are incorporated into cosmetics, it is difficult to stabilize them in the formulation because the solid fats are highly crystalline and have high melting points. Therefore, techniques for stably incorporating these solid fats are being investigated.
- Patent Document 1 describes that a lipid microparticle dispersion containing one or more types selected from sterols and their derivatives, a lipid that is solid or semi-solid at 25°C, such as ceramide, and an anionic surfactant, can be stably emulsified and dispersed as fine particles without crystallizing solid fats such as ceramides.
- Patent Document 2 describes that a composition in the form of a nano- or microemulsion containing a nonionic surfactant having an HLB of 8 to 14, a ceramide compound, and vitamin B3 or a derivative thereof can enhance or improve the penetration of the ceramide compound into the skin.
- Patent Document 1 JP 2019-119742 A
- Patent Document 2 JP 2018-87149 A
- the present invention comprises the following components (A), (B), (C), (D), (E) and (F): (A) ceramides, (B) an anionic surfactant selected from N-acyl-N-alkyltaurine, N-acyl-L-glutamic acid, and salts thereof; (C) a nonionic surfactant having an HLB of 10 or more, (D) a dihydric alcohol having 6 to 10 carbon atoms, (E) a dihydric alcohol having 5 or less carbon atoms, (F) A transparent or translucent oil-in-water emulsion composition containing water.
- compositions of Patent Documents 1 and 2 are transparent at room temperature immediately after production, but when they are frozen and then thawed again, they become cloudy due to the aggregation of emulsion particles. To prevent this, it was necessary to add polyols or thickeners, but this posed the problem of limiting the feel of the product when used.
- the inventors have discovered that by using a combination of ceramides, a specific anionic surfactant, and a nonionic surfactant, along with a dihydric alcohol having 6 to 10 carbon atoms and a dihydric alcohol having 5 or less carbon atoms, it is possible to obtain an oil-in-water emulsion composition that can stably emulsify and disperse ceramides as fine particles using a general-purpose process, has a transparent or translucent appearance, has excellent storage stability at low and high temperatures, prevents deterioration in appearance due to freezing and melting, and imparts a refreshing feeling and smoothness to the skin after application.
- the oil-in-water emulsion composition of the present invention uses a general-purpose process to stably emulsify and disperse ceramides as fine particles, and has a transparent or translucent appearance.
