Description
本開示は、フッ化物イオン伝導材料およびフッ化物シャトル型電池に関する。
高エネルギー密度を有する二次電池として、リチウムイオン二次電池が広く普及している。また、不燃性の無機の固体電解質を用いたリチウムイオン全固体電池が提案されており、安全性が高いことから広く研究開発が行われている。このような固体電解質を用いた電池の一種として、フッ化物イオン(F-)が移動するフッ化物イオン電池が提案されている。フッ化物イオン電池は、高い理論エネルギー密度を有する。
フッ化物イオン二次電池で用いることのできる固体電解質のうち、比較的フッ化物イオン伝導度が高く、かつ広い電位窓を有する材料として、例えば、タイソナイト化合物にアルカリ土類金属が添加されたLA1-xAExF3-x(非特許文献1)およびフルオライト化合物Ca1-yBayF2(非特許文献2)が報告されている。ここで、LA1-xAExF3-xにおいて、xは0.01以上0.2以下であり、「LA」はLaおよびCeなどの希土類金属を表し、「AE」はCa、Sr、およびBaなどのアルカリ土類金属を表す。フルオライト化合物Ca1-yBayF2において、yは0.1以上0.9以下である。また、特許文献1は、フッ化物シャトル型電池に使用可能なフッ化物イオン伝導材料として、フッ化ランタンと、フッ化ストロンチウムと、を含有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料を開示している。

フッ化物イオン伝導度を高めるために、アルカリ土類金属元素とアルカリ金属元素との物質量の合計が、Laの物質量に対して、0.7以下であってもよく、0.5以下であってもよく、0.3以下であってもよく、0.1以下であってもよい。すなわち、Laに対するアルカリ土類金属元素およびアルカリ金属元素の合計のモル比が、0.7以下であってもよく、0.5以下であってもよく、0.3以下であってもよく、0.1以下であってもよい。
フッ化物イオン伝導度を高めるために、上記組成式(1)において、M1は、Srを含み、M2は、Naを含んでもよい。フッ化物イオン伝導度をより高めるために、例えば、上記組成式(1)が、La1-x-ySrxNayF3-x-2yであってもよい。この場合、xは、0<x≦0.05を満たしてもよい。また、この場合、yは、0<y≦0.04を満たしてもよい。
フッ化物イオン伝導度を高めるために、上記組成式(1)において、M1は、Baを含み、M2は、Naを含んでもよい。フッ化物イオン伝導度をより高めるために、例えば、上記組成式(1)が、La1-x-yBaxNayF3-x-2yであってもよい。この場合、xは、0<x≦0.05を満たしてもよい。また、この場合、yは、0<y≦0.04を満たしてもよい。
フッ化物イオン伝導度を高めるために、上記組成式(1)において、M1は、Caを含み、M2は、Kを含んでもよい。フッ化物イオン伝導度をより高めるために、例えば、上記組成式(1)が、La1-x-yCaxKyF3-x-2yであってもよい。この場合、xは、0<x≦0.05を満たしてもよい。また、この場合、yは、0<y≦0.02を満たしてもよい。
本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、例えば、以下のような方法によって製造される。
目的とする組成を有するように、原料粉が混合される。原料粉としては、例えば、フッ化ランタン、アルカリ土類金属フッ化物、アルカリ金属フッ化物または炭酸塩等が用いられる。なお、構成元素がランタン、アルカリ土類金属、アルカリ金属、およびフッ素を含めば、上記以外の原料を用いることができる。原料粉は、例えばボールミルまたはロッドミルのような粉砕機を用いて粉末にしたものを用いてもよい。得られた混合物(すなわち、フッ化物イオン伝導材料の前駆体)は、例えば、500℃から1200℃の温度で焼成される。これにより、本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料が得られる。なお、上記前駆体を焼成する際に、例えばNH4Fが添加されてもよい。例えば、上記前駆体にNH4Fを添加して混合し、得られた混合物を焼成してもよい。このように上記前駆体の焼成時にNH4Fが添加されることにより、焼成時のフッ化物イオン伝導材料の酸化または分解を抑制できる。
[フッ化物シャトル型電池]
図1は、本開示の実施形態によるフッ化物シャトル型電池を模式的に示す断面図である。図1に示されるフッ化物シャトル型電池1は、正極2と、電解質層3と、負極4とを備える。正極2、負極4、および電解質層3からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つが、上述した本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料を含む。上述のとおり、本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、室温において高いフッ化物イオン伝導性を有することができる。したがって、そのようなフッ化物イオン伝導材料を含む本実施形態によるフッ化物シャトル型電池は、例えば室温において動作可能である。
図1は、本開示の実施形態によるフッ化物シャトル型電池を模式的に示す断面図である。図1に示されるフッ化物シャトル型電池1は、正極2と、電解質層3と、負極4とを備える。正極2、負極4、および電解質層3からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つが、上述した本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料を含む。上述のとおり、本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、室温において高いフッ化物イオン伝導性を有することができる。したがって、そのようなフッ化物イオン伝導材料を含む本実施形態によるフッ化物シャトル型電池は、例えば室温において動作可能である。
電解質層3は、正極2と負極4との間に設けられている。正極2は、例えば、正極集電体5および正極活物質層6を備える。負極4は、例えば、負極集電体7および負極活物質層8を備える。
正極活物質層6は、正極活物質を含む。正極活物質は、フッ化物シャトル型電池1の充放電に伴ってフッ化物イオンを吸蔵および放出できる材料である。吸蔵および放出には、フッ化物イオンとの化学反応を伴う形態、およびインターカレーション等の化学反応を伴わない形態の双方が含まれる。化学反応には、化合物を形成する反応と、合金および固溶体等の化合物ではない複合体を形成する反応とが含まれる。
正極活物質は、フッ化物シャトル型電池1において組み合わされる負極活物質に比べて、標準電極電位で表示して貴の電位を示す物質でありうる。
正極2における正極活物質層6は、例えば、第一の金属元素を含む正極活物質と、第一の固体電解質とを含んでもよい。この場合、第一の固体電解質が、上述した本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料であってもよい。
正極2が上記の構成を有することにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は充放電容量を向上させることができる。
第一の金属元素は、例えば、Cu、Bi、Pb、Sb、Fe、Zn、Ni、Mn、Sn、Ag、Cr,In、Ti、およびCoからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つの元素であってもよい。正極2において、第一の金属元素は、単体、合金および固溶体などの複合体、ならびに化合物であり得る。第一の金属元素の化合物は、例えばフッ化物である。このような第一の金属元素を含む正極2を備えることにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は、充放電容量を向上させることができる。
第一の金属元素は、CuおよびAgからなる群より選択される少なくとも1つであってもよい。これにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は、充放電容量をより向上させることができる。
正極活物質層6の厚さは、例えば、1から500μmである。正極活物質層6の厚さは、1から400μm、さらには50から200μmでありうる。正極活物質層6の厚さがこれらの範囲にある場合、フッ化物シャトル型電池1のエネルギー密度をより向上できるとともに、高出力でのより安定した動作が可能となる。
負極活物質層8は、負極活物質を含む。負極活物質は、電池の充放電に伴ってフッ化物イオンを吸蔵および放出できる材料である。吸蔵および放出には、フッ化物イオンとの化学反応を伴う形態、およびインターカレーション等の化学反応を伴わない形態の双方が含まれる。化学反応には、化合物を形成する反応と、合金および固溶体等の化合物ではない複合体を形成する反応とが含まれる。
負極活物質は、フッ化物シャトル型電池1において組み合わされる正極活物質に比べて、標準電極電位で表示して卑の電位を示す物質でありうる。
負極4における負極活物質層8は、例えば、第二の金属元素を含む負極活物質と、第二の固体電解質とを含んでもよい。この場合、第二の固体電解質が、上述した本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料であってもよい。
負極4が上記の構成を有することにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は充放電容量を向上させることができる。
第二の金属元素は、例えば、Pb、Fe、Zn、Mn、Sn、Cr、In、Ti、Co、Al、Zr、La、Ba、Ca、Ce、およびSrからなる群から選択される少なくとも1つの元素であってもよい。負極4において、第二の金属元素は、単体、合金および固溶体などの複合体、ならびに化合物であり得る。第二の金属元素の化合物は、例えばフッ化物である。このような第二の金属元素を含む負極4を備えることにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は、充放電容量を向上させることができる。
上記負極活物質において、第二の金属元素は、鉛および錫からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つであってもよい。例えば、負極活物質は、Pb1-aSnaF2を含んでいてもよい。ここで、aは、例えば0≦a≦1を満たしてもよく、0<a<1を満たしてもよい。第二の金属元素が鉛および錫からなる群より選択される少なくとも1つであることにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は、充放電容量をより向上させることができる。
負極活物質層8の厚さは、例えば、1から500μmである。負極活物質層8の厚さは、1から400μm、さらには30から200μmでありうる。負極活物質層8の厚さがこれらの範囲にある場合、フッ化物シャトル型電池1のエネルギー密度をより向上できるとともに、高出力でのより安定した動作が可能となる。
正極2において、例えば正極活物質層6は、導電助剤を含んでいてもよい。また、負極4において、例えば負極活物質層8は、導電助剤を含んでいてもよい。導電助剤が含まれる場合、正極2および負極4の抵抗が低減され得る。
導電助剤は、電子伝導性を有する限り限定されない。導電助剤は、例えば、天然黒鉛、人造黒鉛等のグラファイト類;アセチレンブラック、ケッチェンブラック等のカーボンブラック類;炭素繊維、金属繊維等の導電性繊維類;フッ化カーボン、アルミニウム等の金属粉末類;酸化亜鉛、チタン酸カリウム等の導電性ウィスカー類;酸化チタン等の導電性金属酸化物;およびポリアニリン、ポリピロール、ポリチオフェン等の導電性高分子化合物である。グラファイト類およびカーボンブラック類といった炭素系導電助剤の使用により、フッ化物シャトル型電池1の低コスト化を図ることができる。
正極集電体5および負極集電体7は、電子伝導性を有する。正極集電体5および負極集電体7は、電子伝導性を有し、かつフッ化物シャトル型電池1の充放電環境下において腐食し難い材料から構成されうる。
正極集電体5は、例えば、アルミニウム、金、白金、およびこれらの合金等の金属材料から構成される。正極集電体5の形状は限定されず、例えば、シートまたはフィルムである。正極集電体5は、多孔または無孔のシートまたはフィルムでありうる。シートおよびフィルムには、箔およびメッシュが含まれる。アルミニウムおよびその合金は、安価であるとともに、薄膜化し易い。正極集電体5は、カーボンコーティングされたアルミニウムから構成されうる。正極集電体5の厚さは、例えば、1から30μmである。正極集電体5の厚さがこの範囲にある場合、集電体の強度をより確実に確保でき、例えば集電体の割れおよび破れが抑制されるとともに、フッ化物シャトル型電池1のエネルギー密度をより確実に確保できる。
正極集電体5は、正極端子を有しうる。
負極集電体7は、例えば、金、白金、アルミニウム、およびこれらの合金等の金属材料から構成される。負極集電体7の形状は限定されず、例えば、シートまたはフィルムである。負極集電体7は、多孔または無孔のシートまたはフィルムでありうる。シートおよびフィルムには、箔およびメッシュが含まれる。アルミニウムおよびその合金は、安価であるとともに、薄膜化し易い。負極集電体7は、カーボンコーティングされたアルミニウムから構成されうる。負極集電体7の厚さは、例えば、1から30μmである。負極集電体7の厚さがこの範囲にある場合、集電体の強度をより確実に確保でき、例えば集電体の割れおよび破れが抑制されるとともに、フッ化物シャトル型電池1のエネルギー密度をより確実に確保できる。
電解質層3は、厚さ方向、すなわち正極2および負極4の積層方向にフッ化物イオン伝導性を有する層である。電解質層3は、典型的には、厚さ方向に電子伝導性を有さない。電解質層3の厚さは、例えば、1から1000μmである。電解質層3の厚さは、200から800μm、さらには300から700μmでありうる。電解質層3の厚さがこれらの範囲にある場合、正極2と負極4との電気的な短絡が抑制されるとともに、フッ化物イオンの伝導性をより確実に確保できる。フッ化物イオンの伝導性をより確実に確保できることにより、より高い出力特性を有するフッ化物シャトル型電池1を構築することができる。
電解質層3は、第三の固体電解質を含んでいてもよい。この場合、第三の固体電解質が、上述した本実施形態によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料であってもよい。
電解質層3が上記の構成を有することにより、フッ化物シャトル型電池1は充放電容量を向上させることができる。
電解質層3は、上記フッ化物イオン伝導材料以外の材料を含んでいてもよい。
粒子状の材料を含む層は、当該粒子を互いに結着する結着剤をさらに含みうる。結着剤により、層内における粒子間の結着性を向上できる。また、結着剤により、隣接する層との接合性(密着強度)を向上できる。例えば、正極活物質層6または負極活物質層8が粒子状の材料を含む場合、これらの活物質層が結着剤をさらに含むことで、当該活物質層と当該活物質層に隣接する集電体層5,7との接合性を向上できる。これら接合性の向上は、各層の薄膜化に寄与する。例えば正極活物質層6および負極活物質層8では、電極活物質同士をより確実に接触させることができるためである。電解質層3では、電解質同士をより確実に接触させることができる。各層の薄膜化によって、フッ化物シャトル型電池1のエネルギー密度のさらなる向上が可能となる。
結着剤は限定されない。結着剤は、例えば、フッ素系樹脂から構成されるバインダー、高分子化合物、またはゴム質重合体であってもよい。バインダーを構成するフッ素系樹脂は、例えば、ポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)、ポリテトラフルオロエチレン(PTFE)、テトラフルオロエチレン-ヘキサフルオロプロピレン共重合体(FEP)、テトラフルオロエチレン-ヘキサフルオロエチレン共重合体、テフロン(登録商標)バインダー、ポリ(フッ化ビニリデン)、テトラフルオロエチレン-パーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合体(PFA)、フッ化ビニリデン-ヘキサフルオロプロピレン共重合体、フッ化ビニリデン-クロロトリフルオロエチレン共重合体、エチレン-テトラフルオロエチレン共重合体(ETFE)、ポリクロロトリフルオロエチレン(PCTFE)、フッ化ビニリデン-ヘキサフルオロプロピレン-テトラフルオロエチレン共重合体、フッ化ビニリデン-パーフルオロメチルビニルエーテル-テトラフルオロエチレン共重合体、エチレン-クロロトリフルオロエチレン共重合体(ECTFE)等である。高分子化合物は、例えば、カルボキシメチルセルロース、ポリアクリロニトリル、ポリエチレンオキシド、ポリプロピレンオキシド、ポリ塩化ビニル、ポリメチルメタクリレート、ポリメチルアクリレート、ポリメタクリル酸、ポリアクリル酸、ポリビニルアルコール、ポリ塩化ビニリデン、ポリエチレンイミン、ポリメタクリロニトリル、ポリビニルアセテート、ポリイミド、ポリアミック酸、ポリアミドイミド、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、エチレン-プロピレン-ジエンターポリマー、ポリ酢酸ビニル、ニトロセルロース、エチレン-アクリル酸共重合体、エチレン-メタクリル酸共重合体、エチレン-アクリル酸メチル共重合体、エチレン-メタクリル酸メチル共重合体、ポリエステル樹脂、モノアルキルトリアルコキシシラン重合体、モノアルキルトリアルコキシシラン重合体とテトラアルコキシシランモノマーとを共重合させた高分子等である。ゴム質重合体は、例えば、スチレンブタジエンゴム(SBR)、ブタジエンゴム(BR)、スチレン-イソプレン共重合体、イソブチレン-イソプレン共重合体(ブチルゴム)、アクリロニトリル-ブタジエンゴム、エチレン-プロピレン-ジエン共重合体、アクリロニトリル-ブタジエン共重合体(NBR)、水素化SBR、水素化NBR、エチレン-プロピレン-ジエンマー(EPDM)、スルホン化EPDM等である。
結着剤がフッ化物イオンおよび/または電子を伝導しない絶縁性の物質である場合、各層における結着剤の含有率が過度に大きくなると、電池の充放電特性が低下したり、エネルギー密度が却って低下したりすることがある。この観点から、上記絶縁性の物質である結着剤を含む層における結着剤の含有率は、例えば20質量%以下であり、5質量%以下でありうる。
結着剤はフッ化物イオン伝導性を有していてもよい。フッ化物イオン伝導性を有する結着剤としては、例えば、金属フッ化物が添加されたイオン伝導性高分子などが挙げられる。結着剤がフッ化物イオン伝導性を有している場合、絶縁性の結着剤に比べフッ化物イオン伝導性が向上し、充放電特性およびエネルギー密度の向上が期待できる。
以下、実施例を用いて、本開示がより詳細に説明される。以下の実施例は一態様を挙げたに過ぎず、これに限定されない。
[実施例1-1]
(フッ化物イオン伝導材料の作製)
LaF3(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)、SrF2(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)、およびNa2CO3(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)の粉体が、LaF3:SrF2:Na2CO3=95:3:1のモル比となるように混合された。次に、得られた混合物が、遊星型ボールミルを用いて5時間ミリング処理された。ミリング処理後の混合物が、2体積%の水素を含むアルゴンガスを流通させながら、800℃で焼成された。これにより、式La0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93により表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料が得られた。
(フッ化物イオン伝導材料の作製)
LaF3(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)、SrF2(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)、およびNa2CO3(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)の粉体が、LaF3:SrF2:Na2CO3=95:3:1のモル比となるように混合された。次に、得られた混合物が、遊星型ボールミルを用いて5時間ミリング処理された。ミリング処理後の混合物が、2体積%の水素を含むアルゴンガスを流通させながら、800℃で焼成された。これにより、式La0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93により表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料が得られた。
(フッ化物イオン伝導度の評価)
フッ化物イオン伝導材料のフッ化物イオン伝導度は、以下のように評価した。フッ化物イオン伝導材料をペレット状に加圧成型して、アルゴンガス流通下、1000℃で6時間焼結した。焼結体表面にPtをスパッタ成膜し、評価用セルとした。測定環境はアルゴン雰囲気中、25℃とした。イオン伝導度の測定には、複素インピーダンス法を用いた。作製した材料のフッ化物イオン伝導度を、以下の表1に示す。
フッ化物イオン伝導材料のフッ化物イオン伝導度は、以下のように評価した。フッ化物イオン伝導材料をペレット状に加圧成型して、アルゴンガス流通下、1000℃で6時間焼結した。焼結体表面にPtをスパッタ成膜し、評価用セルとした。測定環境はアルゴン雰囲気中、25℃とした。イオン伝導度の測定には、複素インピーダンス法を用いた。作製した材料のフッ化物イオン伝導度を、以下の表1に示す。
[実施例1-2]
実施例1-2では、LaF3、SrF2、およびNa2CO3の粉体が、LaF3:SrF2:Na2CO3=96:3:0.5のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例1-1と同様にして、実施例1-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表1に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。
実施例1-2では、LaF3、SrF2、およびNa2CO3の粉体が、LaF3:SrF2:Na2CO3=96:3:0.5のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例1-1と同様にして、実施例1-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表1に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。
[実施例1-3]
実施例1-3では、LaF3、SrF2、およびNa2CO3の粉体が、LaF3:SrF2:Na2CO3=95.5:3:0.75のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例1-1と同様にして、実施例1-3のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表1に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。

実施例1-1から1-22によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素M1がSrであり、かつアルカリ金属元素M2がNaである組成、すなわちLa1-x-ySrxNayF3-x-2yで表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料であった。実施例1-1から1-22によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ金属元素M2であるNaが含まれない比較例1-1および1-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料よりも、高いフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。さらに、実施例1-1から1-22によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、Naの代わりにZrが含まれる比較例1-3およびNaの代わりにYが含まれる比較例1-4のフッ化物イオン伝導材料よりも、高いフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。さらに、実施例1-1から1-22によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素M1であるSrが含まれない比較例1-5のフッ化物イオン伝導材料よりも、高いフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。このように、アルカリ土類金属元素Srおよびアルカリ金属元素Naの両方が含まれているフッ化ランタン系材料は、向上したフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。
[実施例2-1]
(フッ化物イオン伝導材料の作製)
LaF3(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)、BaF2(キシダ化学株式会社製)、およびNa2CO3(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)の粉体が、LaF3:BaF2:Na2CO3=96:2:1のモル比となるように混合された。次に、得られた混合物が、遊星型ボールミルを用いて5時間ミリング処理された。ミリング処理後の混合物が、2体積%の水素を含むアルゴンガスを流通させながら、800℃で焼成された。これにより、式La0.96Ba0.02Na0.02F2.94により表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料が得られた。
(フッ化物イオン伝導材料の作製)

比較例2-1では、LaF3およびBaF2の粉体が、LaF3:BaF2=99:1のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例2-1と同様にして、比較例2-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。すなわち、比較例2-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ金属元素を含まない材料であった。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表2に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。
実施例2-1から2-5によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素M1がBaであり、かつアルカリ金属元素M2がNaである組成、すなわちLa1-x-yBaxNayF3-x-2yで表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料であった。実施例2-1から2-5によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ金属元素M2であるNaが含まれない比較例2-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料よりも、高いフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。このように、アルカリ土類金属元素Baおよびアルカリ金属元素Naの両方が含まれているフッ化ランタン系材料は、向上したフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。
[実施例3-1]
(フッ化物イオン伝導材料の作製)
LaF3(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)、CaF2(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)、およびK2CO3(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)の粉体が、LaF3:CaF2:K2CO3=96:3:0.5のモル比となるように混合された。次に、得られた混合物が、遊星型ボールミルを用いて5時間ミリング処理された。ミリング処理後の混合物が、2体積%の水素を含むアルゴンガスを流通させながら、800℃で焼成された。これにより、式La0.96Ca0.03K0.01F2.95により表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料が得られた。
(フッ化物イオン伝導材料の作製)
LaF3(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)、CaF2(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)、およびK2CO3(富士フィルム和光純薬株式会社製)の粉体が、LaF3:CaF2:K2CO3=96:3:0.5のモル比となるように混合された。次に、得られた混合物が、遊星型ボールミルを用いて5時間ミリング処理された。ミリング処理後の混合物が、2体積%の水素を含むアルゴンガスを流通させながら、800℃で焼成された。これにより、式La0.96Ca0.03K0.01F2.95により表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料が得られた。
(フッ化物イオン伝導度の評価)
フッ化物イオン伝導材料のフッ化物イオン伝導度は、実施例1-1と同様の方法で測定された。
フッ化物イオン伝導材料のフッ化物イオン伝導度は、実施例1-1と同様の方法で測定された。
[実施例3-2]
実施例3-2では、LaF3、CaF2、およびK2CO3の粉体が、LaF3:CaF2:K2CO3=94:5:0.5のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例3-1と同様にして、実施例3-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表3に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。

比較例3-2では、LaF3およびK2CO3の粉体が、LaF3:Na2CO3=97.5:1.25のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例3-1と同様にして、比較例3-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。すなわち、比較例3-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素が含まれない材料であった。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表3に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。
比較例3-2では、LaF3およびK2CO3の粉体が、LaF3:Na2CO3=97.5:1.25のモル比となるように混合された。この事項以外は、実施例3-1と同様にして、比較例3-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料が作製された。すなわち、比較例3-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素が含まれない材料であった。得られたフッ化物イオン伝導材料の組成は、表3に示すとおりであった。また、実施例1-1と同様の方法でフッ化物イオン伝導度が測定された。
実施例3-1および3-2によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素M1がCaであり、かつアルカリ金属元素M2がKである組成、すなわちLa1-x-yCaxKyF3-x-2yで表される組成を有するフッ化物イオン伝導材料であった。実施例3-1および3-2によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ金属元素M2であるKが含まれない比較例3-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料よりも、高いフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。さらに、実施例3-1および3-2によるフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、アルカリ土類金属元素M1であるCaが含まれない比較例3-2のフッ化物イオン伝導材料よりも、高いフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。このように、アルカリ土類金属元素Caおよびアルカリ金属元素Kの両方が含まれているフッ化ランタン系材料は、向上したフッ化物イオン伝導度を有していた。
[実施例4]
実施例1-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料であるLa0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93を電解質層に用いて、フッ化物シャトル型電池の評価が行われた。評価用セルは、以下のように作製された。

(負極合剤の作製)
負極活物質であるPb0.58Sn0.42F2(以下、PSFと記載する)は、次のように作製された。PbF2(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)とSnF2(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)とを、30:14の質量比で混合した。次に、混合物を、遊星型ボールミルを用いて600rpmの回転数で24時間ミリング処理した。
負極活物質であるPb0.58Sn0.42F2(以下、PSFと記載する)は、次のように作製された。PbF2(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)とSnF2(株式会社高純度化学研究所製)とを、30:14の質量比で混合した。次に、混合物を、遊星型ボールミルを用いて600rpmの回転数で24時間ミリング処理した。
上述のように準備した負極活物質であるPSFと、導電助剤となるアセチレンブラック(AB)(電気化学工業株式会社製)を、PSF:AB=56:24の質量比で混合し、遊星型ボールミルを用いて600rpmの回転数で10時間ミリング処理することで、負極合剤粉末を得た。
(正極合剤の作製)
実施例1-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料であるLa0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93と、正極活物質となるAg粒子(シグマアルドリッチ社製)と、電子伝導助剤となるアセチレンブラック(AB;電気化学工業株式会社製)とを、La0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93:AB:Ag=30.3:67.5:2.2の質量比で混合した。次に、得られた混合物を、遊星型ボールミルを用いて200rpmの回転数で10時間ミリング処理することによって、正極合剤粉末を得た。
実施例1-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料であるLa0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93と、正極活物質となるAg粒子(シグマアルドリッチ社製)と、電子伝導助剤となるアセチレンブラック(AB;電気化学工業株式会社製)とを、La0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93:AB:Ag=30.3:67.5:2.2の質量比で混合した。次に、得られた混合物を、遊星型ボールミルを用いて200rpmの回転数で10時間ミリング処理することによって、正極合剤粉末を得た。
(評価用セルの作製)
上記のように準備された正極合剤の粉末10mg、実施例1-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料であるLa0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93の粉末150mg、負極合剤の粉末30mg、および負極集電体となるアルミ箔(株式会社ニラコ製、厚さ10μm)が、この順で直径10mmφの金型中で積層されて、加圧成形された。得られた積層体における正極合剤からなる層(すなわち、正極層)の上部に正極集電体としての白金箔(株式会社ニラコ製、厚さ10μm)を配置し、評価用セルを得た。
上記のように準備された正極合剤の粉末10mg、実施例1-1のフッ化物イオン伝導材料であるLa0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93の粉末150mg、負極合剤の粉末30mg、および負極集電体となるアルミ箔(株式会社ニラコ製、厚さ10μm)が、この順で直径10mmφの金型中で積層されて、加圧成形された。得られた積層体における正極合剤からなる層(すなわち、正極層)の上部に正極集電体としての白金箔(株式会社ニラコ製、厚さ10μm)を配置し、評価用セルを得た。
[比較例4]
電解質層の作製において、La0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93に代わってCa0.5Ba0.5F2を用いたこと以外は、実施例4と同様にして、評価用セルを作製した。
電解質層の作製において、La0.95Sr0.03Na0.02F2.93に代わってCa0.5Ba0.5F2を用いたこと以外は、実施例4と同様にして、評価用セルを作製した。
(フッ化物イオン二次電池の評価)
実施例4および比較例4の評価用セルを用いて、フッ化物シャトル型電池の充放電評価が行われた。充放電評価は、ポテンショガルバノスタット(バイオロジック社製、SP240)を用いて行われた。温度は25℃とし、充電5μA、放電5μAの電流にて、定電流充放電試験が実施された。
実施例4および比較例4の評価用セルを用いて、フッ化物シャトル型電池の充放電評価が行われた。充放電評価は、ポテンショガルバノスタット(バイオロジック社製、SP240)を用いて行われた。温度は25℃とし、充電5μA、放電5μAの電流にて、定電流充放電試験が実施された。
図2は、実施例4の評価用セルに対する充放電試験の結果を示すグラフである。図2において、横軸は、活物質の重量当たりの容量を示す。図2に示されるように、実施例4のセルは、室温においても充放電容量を示すことが分かった。一方、比較例4の評価用セルは、充放電容量を示さなかった。
したがって、本開示におけるフッ化物イオン伝導材料が用いられたフッ化物シャトル型電池は、室温においても電池容量を示すことが確認された。
本開示のフッ化物シャトル型電池は、上述した各実施形態に限定されることなく、請求の範囲に記載された範囲内で種々の変形、変更が可能である。例えば、上述した各実施形態に示された技術的特徴は、上述の課題の一部または全部を解決するため、あるいは、上述の効果の一部または全部を達成するために、適宜、差し替え、または組み合わせを行うことが可能である。また、その技術的特徴が本明細書中に必須なものとして説明されていなければ、適宜、削除することが可能である。
本開示のフッ化物イオン伝導材料は、室温で充放電可能なフッ化物シャトル型電池を実現できる材料として、種々の用途への応用が期待される。

- フッ素元素と、ランタン元素と、アルカリ土類金属元素と、アルカリ金属元素とを含む化合物を含む、
フッ化物イオン伝導材料。 - 前記化合物は、以下の組成式(1)により表され、
La1-x-yM1xM2yF3-x-2y (1)
ここで、
M1は、アルカリ土類金属元素から選ばれる少なくとも1つの元素であり、
M2は、アルカリ金属元素から選ばれる少なくとも1つの元素であり、
xは、0<x≦0.3を満たし、
yは、0<y≦0.2を満たし、および
x+yは、0<x+y≦0.4を満たす、
