Definitions
- the present disclosure relates to a barrier film for a wavelength conversion sheet, a wavelength conversion sheet using the same, a backlight and a liquid crystal display device, and a method for selecting a barrier film for the wavelength conversion sheet.
- Such a liquid crystal display device generally has a color filter, a liquid crystal cell and a backlight.
- a liquid crystal display device generally controls the intensity of light by the shutter function of the liquid crystal layer in the liquid crystal cell, and divides the color of each pixel into the three primary colors of R, G, and B using a color filter to display an image. is displayed.
- LEDs used as light sources for ordinary backlights are so-called white LEDs, which are a combination of a blue LED and a YAG-based yellow phosphor. Such a white LED has a broad spectral distribution of emission wavelengths and is called pseudo-white.
- Quantum dots refer to nanometer-sized fine particles of semiconductors.
- the basic configuration of a backlight using quantum dots is a combination of a light source that produces primary light (such as a blue LED that emits blue light) and quantum dots.
- a quantum dot is, for example, a nano-sized compound semiconductor fine particle composed of a semiconductor fine particle composed of a CdSe core and a ZnS shell, and ligands surrounding the shell.
- Quantum dots have a particle diameter smaller than the Bohr radius of an exciton in a compound semiconductor, so that a quantum confinement effect appears. Therefore, the luminous efficiency of the quantum dots is higher than that of conventional phosphors using rare earth ions as activators, and a high luminous efficiency of 90% or more can be achieved. Since the emission wavelength of the quantum dots is determined by the bandgap energy of the compound semiconductor fine particles thus quantized, any emission spectrum can be obtained by changing the particle size of the quantum dots.
- a backlight that combines these quantum dots with a blue LED or the like is said to be capable of achieving high luminous efficiency and high color purity (see Patent Documents 1 and 2, for example).
- Quantum dots are also used for illumination, quantum dot lasers, etc., in addition to backlights for liquid crystal display devices.
- Patent Documents 3 and 4 propose a wavelength conversion sheet in which both sides of a quantum dot-containing layer are protected by barrier films having a substrate, an inorganic oxide layer and an organic coating layer.
- Quantum dots are characterized by displaying clear images by increasing the color purity of liquid crystal display devices. Therefore, when luminance unevenness is visually recognized in the surface of the wavelength conversion sheet, there is a problem that a clear image, which is a characteristic of quantum dots, is impaired.
- an object of the present disclosure is to provide a barrier film for a wavelength conversion sheet that can suppress luminance unevenness in the surface of the wavelength conversion sheet when applied to the wavelength conversion sheet.

- the "barrier film for the wavelength conversion sheet of the present disclosure” and the “barrier film for the wavelength conversion sheet” may be referred to as the "barrier film of the present disclosure” and the "barrier film”.
- Laminated structures of the barrier film of the first embodiment of the present disclosure include the following (A1) to (A5). It should be noted that the barrier film of the first embodiment of the present disclosure is not limited to the following laminated structures (A1) to (A5). When the barrier films of (A1) to (A5) below further have an anti-sticking layer, it preferably has an anti-sticking layer on the side opposite to the side of the second substrate film having the adhesive layer.
- the barrier film of the first embodiment of the present disclosure needs to satisfy Condition 1 below. If the condition 1 is not satisfied, it is not possible to suppress uneven brightness in the plane of the wavelength conversion sheet.

- At least a part of the surface 1 has at least one unevenness 1 with a height difference between adjacent peaks and valleys of 0.001 mm or more and 0.600 mm or less in the profile curve 1 in a predetermined direction.
- Condition 1 stipulates that surface 1, which is the surface of the barrier film on the side having the primer layer with respect to the adhesive layer, satisfies a predetermined condition. As shown in FIG. 4, when the barrier film is applied to the wavelength conversion sheet, the quantum dot-containing layer is positioned on the primer layer side surface of the barrier film. Therefore, it is considered that the surface of the barrier film on the primer layer side affects the performance of the quantum dot-containing layer.
- the surface of the barrier film on the primer layer side satisfies Condition 1, so that the effect of forming the quantum dot-containing layer on the barrier film can be suppressed, and the in-plane of the wavelength conversion sheet It is considered possible to suppress luminance unevenness. Condition 1 will be described in more detail below.
- Condition 1 is based on the premise that surface 1, which is the surface of the barrier film on the side having the primer layer with respect to the adhesive layer, has predetermined unevenness.
- the unevenness of the surface 1 is considered to occur in the step of bonding the first base film and the second base film via the adhesive layer and the heating step after the above steps.
- the first reason for the unevenness caused by the above-described process is the tension in the machine direction applied to the base film when the first base film and the second base film are bonded together with the adhesive layer interposed therebetween. In other words, it is thought that when the base film is pulled with tension applied in the machine direction, minute streaks are generated in the machine direction, and these streaks can cause unevenness.
- the second reason why the unevenness is generated by the above-described process is considered to be the shrinkage of the layers constituting the barrier film due to heating.
- Layers that shrink include the adhesive layer, the barrier layer, the first substrate film and the second substrate film, and among them, the adhesive layer tends to shrink more.
- the adhesive layer shrinks primarily upon curing. That is, it is thought that the minute streaks in the flow direction described above act as triggers, and ridges and valleys are formed in the flow direction along the streaks due to contraction of the adhesive layer or the like.
- the composition for the adhesive layer contains a curing agent that reacts with moisture in the air, the penetration of moisture from the edges of the barrier film causes peaks and valleys along the streaks in the machine direction. are likely to be formed more easily.
- the surface side is more likely to be exposed to moisture than the core side.
- peaks and valleys formed at the same position in the width direction gradually pile up, so that the peaks and valleys on the surface side of the roll tend to become larger.
- the barrier film forms ridges extending in the machine direction and troughs extending in the machine direction, thereby forming irregularities in the contour curve of the barrier film in the width direction.
- the unevenness of the surface 1 is considered to be caused by a combination of the first and second reasons, and is unlikely to be caused by the first and second reasons alone.
- Fine streaks that cause unevenness on the surface 1 can be suppressed by adjusting mechanical conditions such as tension when manufacturing the barrier film, so the unevenness on the surface 1 can be suppressed.
- mechanical conditions such as tension
- the inventors of the present invention on the premise that unevenness occurs on the surface 1 of a barrier film having a structure in which a first base film and a second base film are bonded via an adhesive layer, The conditions for making the luminance unevenness inconspicuous were examined, and condition 1 was derived.
- the unevenness of the surface 1 is considered to be caused by the factors described above. For this reason, it is considered that the problem of unevenness is less likely to occur in a barrier film that does not have two base films.
- unevenness may occur unless the tension is adjusted.
- Elevation data measuring devices can be broadly classified into contact-type measuring devices and non-contact-type measuring devices, and non-contact-type measuring devices are preferable because they can easily measure the altitude of a minute area.
- a general-purpose measuring device can be used as the altitude data measuring device.
- a non-contact type measuring device for altitude data for example, there is a trade name "LINE STRIPER [HIU-LS400]" manufactured by Hakko Automation.
- the area for obtaining the altitude in one measurement is preferably 200 mm to 300 mm in the flow direction ⁇ 200 mm to 400 mm in the width direction, and 200 mm in the flow direction ⁇ 200 mm in the width direction. is more preferred. If the size of the barrier film is larger than the area, the altitude may be measured multiple times. It is possible to determine whether or not the surface 1 has irregularities due to the distortion of the light source when the light source such as a fluorescent lamp is projected onto the surface 1 . For this reason, a portion where the light source is not distorted may be regarded as having no unevenness, and altitude measurement may be omitted.
- At least a part of the surface 1 has at least one unevenness 1 with a height difference between adjacent peaks and valleys of 0.001 mm or more and 0.600 mm or less in the profile curve 1 in a predetermined direction.
- the reason why the height difference of the unevenness 1 is specified to be 0.001 mm or more and 0.600 mm or less is that the problem of luminance unevenness hardly occurs unless the surface 1 has unevenness having a height difference of 0.001 mm or more.
- the reason why the height difference of the unevenness 1 is defined as 0.600 mm or less is that when the surface 1 has unevenness with a height difference of more than 0.600 mm, it is difficult to solve the problem of luminance unevenness even if the condition 1 is satisfied. Because there is The contour curve 1 in the predetermined direction may have unevenness with a height difference of less than 0.001 mm, but shall not have unevenness with a height difference of more than 0.600 mm.
- the surface 1 may have a portion where the unevenness 1 is absent and the height difference between adjacent peaks and valleys is 0.001 mm or more and 0.600 mm or less.
- the said part may be called "another part.”
- Other portions may have unevenness with a height difference of less than 0.001 mm between adjacent peaks and valleys, but shall not have unevenness with a height difference of more than 0.600 mm.
- the unevenness 1 is included in the profile curve 1 in a given direction.
- the "predetermined direction” may be the width direction if the flow direction and the width direction at the time of manufacture of the barrier film can be discriminated.
- the elevation and width of the unevenness on the surface 1 can be appropriately determined by setting the width direction as a predetermined direction.
- the predetermined direction may be a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction in which the peaks and valleys of the unevenness extend.
- substantially orthogonal means 90° ⁇ 10°.
- sheet-like barrier films are usually square with four right-angled corners.
- a barrier film cut into a square with four right-angled corners has two pairs of opposite sides, one of which is the machine direction, and the other of which is the width direction.
- the direction in which the peaks and valleys of the unevenness extend is the flow direction. Therefore, when a rectangular sheet-like barrier film with four right-angled corners has unevenness, it is easy to distinguish between the flow direction and the width direction. Therefore, when the sheet-shaped barrier film has unevenness, the predetermined direction may be the width direction. Also, regarding a sheet-like barrier film, if it has unevenness, the predetermined direction may be a direction substantially orthogonal to the direction in which the peaks and valleys of the unevenness extend.
- the ratio of the length of the unevenness 1 to the total length of the barrier film in a predetermined direction is not particularly limited, it is usually 3% or more and 50% or less.
- H/W 2 ⁇ 1.5 ⁇ 10 -5
- a large H/W 2 means that the unevenness 1 has a steep slope.
- the thickness of the quantum dot-containing layer is uneven, and the thickness increases rapidly. subject to change. It can be said that the brightness of the wavelength conversion sheet is proportional to the thickness of the quantum dot-containing layer. For this reason, when H/ W2 is large, luminance unevenness tends to occur in the plane of the wavelength conversion sheet.
- the height difference H [mm] of the unevenness 1 is divided by the square of the width W [mm].
- the reason for dividing the height difference by the square of the width is to emphasize the Mach effect.
- the Mach effect is "a psychological visual phenomenon in which a darker band is seen on the darker side and a brighter band is seen on the brighter side near the boundary of an image in which the brightness changes stepwise".
- Equation (1) divides the height difference by the square of the width in order to make the Mach effect less likely to occur.
- H/W 2 exceeds 1.5 ⁇ 10 ⁇ 5 and does not satisfy the formula (1), a streak-like abrupt change in luminance occurs in the plane of the wavelength conversion sheet, and the Mach effect causes the wavelength conversion sheet to It becomes easy to be recognized as luminance unevenness in the plane.
- Condition 1 specifies that at least one unevenness 1 having a height difference of 0.001 mm or more and 0.600 mm or less is present.
- the number of unevennesses 1 may be one, or two or more. When the number of unevenness
- the peaks and valleys of the unevenness extend in the machine direction. Therefore, in the present disclosure, it is preferable to acquire a plurality of profile curves 1 in a predetermined direction within the plane of the barrier film. - the barrier film may shrink due to heat or the like, and in such a case, different stresses are applied to the portions having the irregularities 1 and the portions not having the irregularities 1 .

- the portions marked with " ⁇ " correspond to valleys.
- the peaks are so-called peaks
- the valleys are so-called bottoms.
- peaks and valleys are determined by excluding irregularities having a height difference of less than 0.001 mm.

- One unevenness is formed from two ridges and one trough, or two troughs and one ridge. For this reason, the unevenness formed by two peaks and one valley has the interval W between the adjacent peaks.
- the interval W between adjacent valleys is the interval W between the unevenness.
- W1, W2, and W3 each indicate the width of the unevenness.
- one unevenness is formed from two peaks and one valley, or two valleys and one peak. Therefore, one unevenness has two height differences.
- the unevenness on the left side of FIG. 7 has a height difference H1 and a height difference H2.
- H1 is larger than H2

- (1) By setting a low tension when conveying the first base film and the second base film, minute streaks occurring in the flow direction of the first base film and the second base film are suppressed. If the tension is too strong, the tension tends to be uneven in the width direction of the base film, which tends to cause minute streaks. Therefore, it is preferable to intentionally set the tension low when conveying the first base film and the second base film. If the unevenness of the surface 1 does not satisfy the condition 1 when manufacturing with an arbitrary tension, the tension may be decreased by 10% and test manufacturing may be performed.

When the barrier film of (B1) below further has an anti-sticking layer, it preferably has an anti-sticking layer on the opposite side of the base film to the side having the barrier layer. - the altitude of the surface 1' is measured at intervals of 1 mm to obtain altitude data of the surface 1'.
- a profile curve of the surface 1' defined by the altitude data is defined as a profile curve 1'.

- H [mm] and the width of the unevenness 1' is defined as W [mm]
- the following formula (1') is satisfied. H/W 2 ⁇ 1.5 ⁇ 10 ⁇ 5 (1′)
- Condition 1' stipulates that surface 1', which is the surface of the barrier film on the side having the primer layer with respect to the barrier layer, satisfies a predetermined condition.
- the quantum dot-containing layer is positioned on the primer layer side surface of the barrier film. Therefore, it is considered that the surface of the barrier film on the primer layer side affects the performance of the quantum dot-containing layer.
- the surface of the barrier film on the primer layer side satisfies Condition 1′, so that the effect of forming the quantum dot-containing layer on the barrier film can be suppressed. It is thought that the brightness unevenness can be suppressed.
- Condition 1' will be described in more detail below.
- Condition 1' is based on the premise that the surface 1', which is the surface of the barrier film on the side having the primer layer with respect to the barrier layer, has predetermined unevenness.
- the unevenness of the surface 1' is considered to occur in the step of forming functional layers such as a barrier layer and a primer layer on the substrate film and in the heating step after the above steps.
- the first reason for the formation of unevenness in the above-described process is the tension applied to the substrate film in the machine direction when the functional layer is formed on the substrate film.
- shrinkable layers include functional layers such as barrier layers and substrate films. That is, it is thought that the minute streaks in the flow direction described above act as triggers, and ridges and valleys are formed in the flow direction along the streaks due to contraction of the functional layer or the like.
- a barrier film wound into a roll tends to have larger peaks and valleys on the surface side of the roll as the peaks and valleys formed at the same position in the width direction gradually pile up. It is believed that due to the aforementioned phenomenon, the barrier film forms ridges extending in the machine direction and troughs extending in the machine direction, thereby forming irregularities in the contour curve of the barrier film in the width direction. .
- the unevenness of the surface 1' is considered to be caused by a combination of the first and second reasons, and is unlikely to be caused by the first and second reasons alone.
- adjusting mechanical conditions such as tension can suppress minute streaks that cause irregularities on the surface 1', so that the irregularities on the surface 1' can be suppressed.
- mechanical conditions such as tension are adjusted, it is difficult to completely eliminate minute streaks, so it is difficult to completely eliminate irregularities on the surface 1'.
- the present inventors studied the conditions for making the luminance unevenness inconspicuous, and derived the condition 1'. Arrived.

Abstract
Description

<条件1>

<条件1’>
<条件1’>

このようなバンドギャップの大小関係を有するコアシェル構造(コア/シェル)としては、例えば、CdSe/ZnS、CdSe/ZnSe、CdSe/CdS、CdTe/CdS、InP/ZnS、Gap/ZnS、Si/ZnS、InN/GaN、InP/CdSSe、InP/ZnSeTe、InGaP/ZnSe、InGaP/ZnS、Si/AlP、InP/ZnSTe、InGaP/ZnSTe、InGaP/ZnSSe等が挙げられる。
