- radioactive materials are contained in the liquid waste generated at nuclear power plants and other nuclear facilities (hereafter referred to as nuclear facilities), and these must be removed prior to discharge.
- radioactive iodine is one of the isotopes of iodine 129, which has a long half-life of about 15.7 million years. Complete removal from the inside is essential.
- the chemical species of radioactive iodine contained in the liquid waste discharged from nuclear facilities are mainly two types, iodide ion (I ⁇ ) and iodate ion (IO 3 ⁇ ).
- iodide ion adsorbent As an adsorbent for iodide ions (hereinafter referred to as an iodide ion adsorbent), silver-supported activated carbon, in which silver is supported on activated carbon, and silver zeolite, in which silver is supported on A-type zeolite or X-type zeolite, are known. However, none of these can remove the iodate ions present in the waste liquid.
- the sludge containing the above-mentioned radioactive substance can be removed.
- the ability of the iodide ion adsorbent to adsorb iodide ions decreases in the presence of the reducing agent, and the iodide ion adsorbent becomes easily embrittled under acidic conditions in which the reducing agent coexists. Problems such as clogging tend to occur when the liquid is passed through an adsorption tower such as a column.
- the present invention has been made in view of this technical background, and is used to reduce iodate ions to iodide ions by adding a reducing agent to a solution containing radioactive iodine, and to remove them collectively as iodine ions.
- a suitable radioactive iodine adsorbent that has a high adsorption capacity without deteriorating its ability to adsorb iodine ions even under acidic conditions in which a reducing agent coexists in a solution, and that is resistant to embrittlement. , to provide a method for producing a radioactive iodine adsorbent and a method for treating radioactive iodine.
- Radioactive iodine adsorbent > [1] A high-silica zeolite in which the hydroxyl nests present inside have been changed to Si—O—Si bonds, and silver is carried thereon. ) type zeolite and clinoptilolite (CLP) type zeolite, which is at least one selected from the group consisting of a radioactive iodine adsorbent. [2] The radioactive iodine adsorbent according to [1], wherein the high silica zeolite has a SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio of 2-100.
- a method of treating radioactive iodine comprising:
- the ability to adsorb iodine ions does not decrease, and the adsorbent has a high adsorption capacity and is embrittled. It is possible to provide a resistant radioactive iodine adsorbent. Moreover, it is possible to provide a method for producing the radioactive iodine adsorbent and a method for treating radioactive iodine using the radioactive iodine adsorbent.
- the radioactive iodine adsorbent of the present invention is made by supporting silver on high silica zeolite in which the hydroxyl nests present inside are changed to Si—O—Si bonds, and the high silica zeolite is chabasite (CHA) type. At least one selected from the group consisting of zeolite, mordenite (MOR) type zeolite, and clinoptilolite (CLP) type zeolite.
- high silica zeolite means zeolite with a SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio exceeding 2.0.
- the shape of the radioactive iodine adsorbent is not particularly limited, it is preferably a granular (also referred to as beads) or cylindrical (also referred to as pellets) molded body because it is used by filling an adsorption tower such as a column. .
- the radioactive iodine adsorbent of the present invention can be suitably used for adsorbing and removing iodine ions and iodate ions, which are radioactive iodine contained in waste liquids discharged from nuclear facilities.
- iodine ions contained in the acidic solution are removed by adsorption by the radioactive iodine adsorbent.
- the silver-supported zeolite was prepared by immersing a zeolite compact in an aqueous solution of silver nitrate to perform ion exchange treatment, then washing with sufficient pure water and drying.
- the amount of silver supported was measured using a fluorescent X-ray measuring device (XRF-1700 manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation).
- XRF-1700 fluorescent X-ray measuring device manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation.
- all samples were subjected to heat treatment at 550° C. for 1 hour.
- Sample 1 When silver was supported on A-type zeolite without adding L-ascorbic acid to the acidic solution, no change occurred in the appearance of A-type zeolite and embrittlement was not confirmed.
- Sample 2 When L-ascorbic acid was added to the acidic solution and no silver was supported on the A-type zeolite, the appearance of the A-type zeolite did not change, and embrittlement was not confirmed.
- Sample 3 When L-ascorbic acid was added to an acidic solution and silver was supported on A-type zeolite, as shown in Fig. 1, embrittlement such as holes, cracks, and powdering was confirmed in A-type zeolite. .
- SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio and fragility evaluation using samples 4 to 11 The SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio of each sample was obtained by quantifying the mass ratio of Si and Al measured by a fluorescent X-ray measurement device (XRF-1700 manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation) using a calibration curve. Al 2 O 3 molar ratio was calculated. All samples (Samples 4 to 11) were heat-treated at 575° C. for 1 hour as a pretreatment before measurement by a fluorescent X-ray measuring device (XRF-1700 manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation). i.
- SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio and fragility evaluation using samples 12 to 19 The SiO 2 /Al 2 O 3 molar ratio of each sample was obtained by quantifying the mass ratio of Si and Al measured by a fluorescent X-ray measurement device (XRF-1700 manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation) using a calibration curve. Al 2 O 3 molar ratio was calculated. All samples (Samples 12 to 19) were heat-treated at 575° C. for 1 hour as a pretreatment before measurement by a fluorescent X-ray measuring device (XRF-1700 manufactured by Shimadzu Corporation). i.
- Samples 12 to 19 differ from Samples 4 to 11 only in the presence or absence of heat treatment before silver loading (heat treatment at 600° C. for 30 minutes before silver loading).
- embrittlement such as holes, cracks, and powdering was confirmed on the surface of the zeolite molded body in all samples, and similar results were observed in samples 12 to 15.
- the Al 2 O 3 molar ratio remained almost unchanged, confirming that no dealumination occurred in the solution.
- embrittlement such as holes, cracks, powdering, etc.
- FIG. 3 shows the result of determining the ratio C/C 0 between the concentration of I in the solution before passing through the column (C 0 ) and the concentration of I (C) on the outlet side of the column.
- FIG. 4 shows the difference (P ⁇ P 0 ) between the pressure (P) at the time of passing the liquid and the pressure (P 0 ) at the start of the passing of the liquid, which was obtained as a differential pressure rise.
- Sample 19 which is an example of the present invention, does not cause embrittlement such as holes, cracks, and powdering even when used under acidic conditions with the addition of a reducing agent, and compared to sample 11, which is a comparative example. , it was confirmed that the differential pressure did not easily increase during the passage of the liquid, and that the number of days that the liquid could be passed was long. This is considered to be due to the fact that embrittlement of the agent and excessive precipitation of AgI, which cause clogging during liquid flow, were suppressed in sample 19, which is an example of the present invention.

Abstract
Description

Cl=900質量ppm(サンプル1~3の脆弱性評価用溶液)
L-アスコルビン酸=0質量ppm(サンプル1の脆弱性評価用溶液)、
L-アスコルビン酸=5000質量ppm(サンプル2、3の脆弱性評価用溶液)
pH=3~4
ii.
