Abstract
回路モジュールは、互いに対向する第1面(S1)及び第2面(S2)を有する基板(1)と、基板(1)の第1面(S1)に実装されたIC(2)と、基板(1)の第1面(S1)及び第2面(S2)に、導体ペーストの加熱硬化による導体パターンで形成され、IC(2)と外部の回路との間に接続される回路と、基板(1)の第1面(S1)及び第2面(S2)の少なくとも一方に形成され、基板(1)の第1面(S1)及び第2面(S2)における導体ペーストの平衡性を保つ、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるダミー導体パターン(DP1,DP2)と、を備える。
Description
本発明は、回路モジュール及びそれを備えるRFID(Radio Frequency IDentifier)タグに関する。
特許文献1には、アンテナとして作用させる導体に結合するRFICモジュールが示されている。このRFICモジュールは、基板と、この基板に搭載されたRFICチップと、このRFICチップに接続されて構成される複数のコイルによる整合回路とを備える。
特許文献1に記載の構造のRFICモジュールでは、それを薄型化、小型化しようとすると、RFICモジュールが備える複数のコイル間が近接することによる、不要輻射や不要結合等の電気的特性の変化が生じるが、それ以外にも、RFICモジュールの基板の平坦性が損なわれる傾向があることを発明者は見出した。これは、基板の小型化に伴い、基板の互いに対向する主面に形成される導体パターンのバランスがとり難くなるからである。つまり、基板に対する導体パターンの形成工程で、基板及び導体パターンの収縮等の挙動が、基板の第1面と第2面とで不均衡となって、基板が一方に反る傾向が顕著になる。また、面方向において導体の疎密の分布の偏りが大きくなると、基板の部分的な変形が顕著になる。
このようにRFICモジュールの基板が反ったり変形したりすると、アンテナ導体パターンが形成されたフレキシブル基板に対するRFICモジュールの実装が困難になったり、接続不良を招いたりするおそれがある。
上述の基板の反りや変形はRFICモジュールに限らず、基板に導体パターンによる回路が形成され、ICが搭載された、回路モジュール一般に生じる。
そこで、本発明の目的は、基板の反りや変形を抑制した回路モジュール及びそれを備えるRFIDタグを提供することにある。
本発明の回路モジュールは、互いに対向する第1面及び第2面を有する基板と、前記基板の第1面に搭載されたICと、前記基板の第1面及び第2面に、導体ペーストの加熱硬化による導体パターンで形成され、前記ICと外部回路との間に接続される回路と、前記基板の第1面及び第2面の少なくとも一方に形成され、前記基板の第1面及び第2面における前記導体ペーストの平衡性を保つ、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるダミー導体パターンと、を備える。
また、本発明のRFIDタグは、フレキシブルな絶縁体フィルムに形成された2つの導体パターンを備えるアンテナと、前記絶縁体フィルムに搭載され、前記アンテナに接続又は結合する回路モジュールとを備え、その回路モジュールは、互いに対向する第1面及び第2面を有する基板と、前記基板の第1面に搭載されたRFICと、前記基板の第1面及び第2面に、導体ペーストの加熱硬化による導体パターンで形成され、前記RFICと外部回路との間に接続されるインピーダンス整合回路と、前記基板の第1面及び第2面の少なくとも一方に形成され、前記基板の第1面及び第2面における前記導体ペーストの平衡性を保つ、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるダミー導体パターンと、を備える。
本発明によれば、基板の反りや変形を抑制した回路モジュール及びそれを備えるRFIDタグが得られる。
《第1の実施形態》
図1は、第1の実施形態に係るRFICモジュール101の基板1に形成されている導体パターンを示す平面図である。図1において上部は基板1の上面に形成されている導体パターンの平面図であり、図1の下部は基板1の下面に形成されている導体パターンの平面図である。

基板1の上面には、RFIC側第1端子電極31、RFIC側第2端子電極32、第1インダクタL1の主要部の導体パターンL11、及び第2インダクタL2の主要部の導体パターンL21が形成されている。RFIC側第1端子電極31は上記導体パターンL11の一方端に繋がっていて、RFIC側第2端子電極32は上記導体パターンL21の一方端に繋がっている。さらに、基板1の上面には複数のダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2が形成されている。これら導体パターンは、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるパターンである。
基板1の下面には、別の基板に形成されたアンテナの導体パターンに容量結合されるアンテナ側第1端子電極11及びアンテナ側第2端子電極12が形成されている。また、基板1の下面には、第1インダクタL1の一部の導体パターンL12、第2インダクタL2の一部の導体パターンL22、第3インダクタL3の導体パターン、第4インダクタL4の導体パターン及び第5インダクタL5の導体パターン(二点鎖線で囲む導体パターン)が形成されている。これら導体パターンも導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるパターンである。
上記第1インダクタL1の一部の導体パターンL12の一方端及び第3インダクタL3の導体パターンの一方端は上記アンテナ側第1端子電極11に繋がっている。同様に、上記第2インダクタL2の一部の導体パターンL22の一方端及び第4インダクタL4の導体パターンの一方端は上記アンテナ側第2端子電極12に繋がっている。第3インダクタL3の導体パターンの他方端と、第4インダクタL4の導体パターンの他方端との間には第5インダクタL5の導体パターンが繋がっている。
第1インダクタL1の導体パターンL12の他方端と第1インダクタL1の主要部の導体パターンL11の他方端とは層間接続導体V1を介して接続されている。同様に、第2インダクタL2の導体パターンL22の他方端と第2インダクタL2の主要部の導体パターンL21の他方端とは層間接続導体V2を介して接続されている。さらに、ダミー導体パターンDP1とアンテナ側第1端子電極11とは層間接続導体V0を介して接続されていて、ダミー導体パターンDP2とアンテナ側第2端子電極12とは層間接続導体V0を介して接続されている。
上記RFIC側第1端子電極31及びRFIC側第2端子電極32にRFIC2が実装されている。つまり、RFIC2の端子21がRFIC側第1端子電極31に接続されていて、RFIC2の端子22がRFIC側第2端子電極32に接続されている。
第1インダクタL1の導体パターンL11と第3インダクタL3とは基板1の異なる層にそれぞれ形成され、且つコイル開口が重なる関係に配置されている。同様に、第2インダクタL2の導体パターンL21と第4インダクタL4とは基板1の異なる層にそれぞれ形成され、且つコイル開口が重なる関係に配置されている。そして、第2インダクタL2及び第4インダクタL4と、第1インダクタL1及び第3インダクタL3とは、RFIC2の搭載位置を基板1の面に沿って挟む位置関係に配置されている。
図2は、図1におけるX-Xラインでの、RFICモジュール101の断面図である。このRFICモジュール101は、基板1と、この基板1に実装されるRFIC2とを備える。基板1は例えばポリイミド等のフレキシブル基板である。RFIC2が実装された基板1の上面(第1面S1)には保護膜3が被覆されている。この保護膜3は例えばポリウレタン等のエラストマーやエチレン酢酸ビニル(EVA)のようなホットメルト剤又は熱硬化性樹脂である。基板1の下面(第2面S2)にはカバーレイフィルム4が設けられている。このカバーレイフィルム4は例えばポリイミドフィルムである。したがって、基板1、保護膜3、カバーレイフィルム4のいずれもが柔らかく、このRFICモジュール101全体が柔らかい。
基板1の第1面S1のダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2は、基板1の第2面S2のアンテナ側第1端子電極11及びアンテナ側第2端子電極12に対して基板1を挟んで対向する位置に形成されている。
図3の上部は、RFICモジュール101の製造段階での平面図であり、図3の下部は上部のX-Xラインでの断面図である。図4は、図3に示した工程より後の工程での断面図である。
RFICモジュール101は次の工程で製造する。
(1)図3に示すように、幅広且つ長尺状の基板1に、アンテナ側第1端子電極11、アンテナ側第2端子電極12、ダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2等の導体パターンを形成する。これら導体パターンは、基板1に銅ペーストをスクリーン印刷し、加熱することで硬化させて形成する。
(2)RFIC2の実装位置にはんだペーストをスクリーン印刷する。
(3)RFIC2を搭載し、リフローソルダリングを行う。
(4)図4に示すように、カバーレイフィルム4を貼付する。
(5)図4に示すように、保護膜3を被覆する。
(6)各RFICモジュール単位に分割する。
従来、上記(3)の工程のリフローソルダリングの際、基板1の第1面S1及び第2面S2における収縮率が異なると、基板1が反ってしまう場合があった。
図5は上記リフローソルダリングの工程を示す概略図である。支持板9に載せられた基板1にRFIC2が搭載され、リフロー炉を通過させることにより、リフローソルダリングがなされる。
図6(A)は本実施形態によるRFICモジュールの上記リフローソルダリングを行った後における断面図である。図6(B)はその比較例としての従来のRFICモジュールのリフローソルダリングを行った後における断面図である。
図6(B)に示す例では、基板1の第2面S2に形成されている導体パターンの形成率が、基板1の第1面S1に形成されている導体パターンの形成率に比べて高いので、リフローソルダリングの段階で、図6(B)に示すように、基板1の第1面S1が凹、第2面S2が凸となる状態に反ってしまう。そのため、RFIC2の一方の端子が浮き上がった状態で実装される。
本実施形態によれば、図6(A)に示すように、基板1の第1面S1にダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2が形成されていることで、基板1の第2面S2に形成されている導体パターンの形成率と、基板1の第1面S1に形成されている導体パターンの形成率とはほぼ等しい。そのため、図6(A)に示すように、基板1が反ることなく平坦性を保つ。
《第2の実施形態》
第2の実施形態では、第1の実施形態とはダミー導体パターンの構成が異なるRFICモジュールについて示す。

図7は第2の実施形態に係るRFICモジュール102の基板1に形成されている導体パターンを示す平面図である。図7において上部は基板1の上面に形成されている導体パターンの平面図であり、図7の下部は基板1の下面に形成されている導体パターンの平面図である。
基板1の上面には、RFIC側第1端子電極31、RFIC側第2端子電極32、第1インダクタL1の主要部の導体パターンL11、及び第2インダクタL2の主要部の導体パターンL21が形成されている。RFIC側第1端子電極31は上記導体パターンL11の一方端に繋がっていて、RFIC側第2端子電極32は上記導体パターンL21の一方端に繋がっている。さらに、基板1の第1面S1には複数のダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2が形成されている。これら導体パターンは、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるパターンである。
基板1の下面には、別の基板に形成されたアンテナの導体パターンに容量結合されるアンテナ側第1端子電極11及びアンテナ側第2端子電極12が形成されている。また、基板1の下面には、第1インダクタL1の一部の導体パターンL12、第2インダクタL2の一部の導体パターンL22、第3インダクタL3の導体パターン、第4インダクタL4の導体パターン及び第5インダクタL5の導体パターンが形成されている。これら導体パターンも導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるパターンである。
上記RFIC側第1端子電極31及びRFIC側第2端子電極32にRFIC2が実装されている。
図8は、図7におけるX-Xラインでの、RFICモジュール102の断面図である。基板1は例えばポリイミド等のフレキシブル基板である。RFIC2が実装された基板1の上面(第1面S1)には保護膜3が被覆されている。基板1の下面(第2面S2)にはカバーレイフィルム4が設けられている。
基板1の第1面S1のダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2は、基板1の第2面S2のアンテナ側第1端子電極11及びアンテナ側第2端子電極12に対して基板1を挟んで対向する位置に形成されている。第1の実施形態で示したRFICモジュール101とは異なり、ダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2は基板1の第1面S1に形成されていて、アンテナ側第1端子電極11及びアンテナ側第2端子電極12には接続されていない。つまり、他の導体パターンから独立している。
本実施形態に示したように、ダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2に層間接続導体が接続されてなくても、基板1の第1面S1にダミー導体パターンDP1,DP2が形成されていることで、基板1の第2面S2に形成されている導体パターンの形成率と、基板1の第1面S1に形成されている導体パターンの形成率とをほぼ等しくでき、そのことで、リフローソルダリング後も、基板1が反ることなく平坦性を保つことができる。

基板1の第1面S1には複数のダミー導体パターンDP21,DP22が形成されている。基板1の第2面S2にはダミー導体パターンDP11,DP12が形成されている。ダミー導体パターンDP21とダミー導体パターンDP11とは層間接続導体V0を介して接続されていて、ダミー導体パターンDP22とダミー導体パターンDP12とは層間接続導体V0を介して接続されている。その他の構成は第2の実施形態で示したRFICモジュール102と同様である。
上記ダミー導体パターンDP11,DP21及び層間接続導体V0による導体は他の導体から独立したダミーの導体である。同様に、ダミー導体パターンDP12,DP22及び層間接続導体V0による導体は他の導体から独立したダミーの導体である。
本実施形態に示したように、ダミー導体パターンDP11,DP12,DP21,DP22が基板1の両面に形成されていても、層間接続導体V0と共に形成されていることにより、基板1の剛性が高まる。このことにより、リフローソルダリングによる基板1の変改が抑制される。
《第4の実施形態》

基板1の第1面S1には複数のダミー導体パターンDP21が形成されている。基板1の第2面S2にはダミー導体パターンDP11が形成されている。ダミー導体パターンDP21とダミー導体パターンDP11とは層間接続導体V0を介して接続されている。第3の実施形態で示したRFICモジュール103と異なり、ダミー導体パターンDP21,DP11及び層間接続導体V0による導体は1セットのみ形成されている。このダミー導体パターンDP21,DP11及び層間接続導体V0による導体のセットは、その他の本来の導体パターンの形成領域から離れた位置に形成されている。つまり、基板1に形成されている導体パターンには疎密があり、「疎」の領域にダミー導体パターンDP21,DP11及び層間接続導体V0による導体のセットが配置されている。その他の構成は第3の実施形態で示したRFICモジュール103と同様である。
本実施形態によれば、ダミー導体パターンDP11,DP21及び層間接続導体V0の形成によって、基板1における導体の分布の面方向の偏りが緩和される。そのことで、リフローソルダリング後も、基板1が局所的に変形することがなく、平坦性を保つことができる。
また、本実施形態によれば、保護膜3は透光性であり、外部からダミー導体パターンDP21を撮影できるので、このダミー導体パターンDP21をRFICモジュール104の方向性を識別するマークとして利用できる。

RFIDタグ201は、アンテナ6と、このアンテナ6に結合するRFICモジュール101とで構成される。アンテナ6は絶縁体フィルム60と、この絶縁体フィルム60に形成された導体パターン61,62とで構成される。絶縁体フィルム60は例えばポリエチレンテレフタレート(PET)のフィルムであり、導体パターン61,62は例えばアルミニウム箔のパターンである。RFICモジュール101の構成は第1の実施形態で示したとおりである。
導体パターン61は導体パターン61P,61L,61Cで構成され、導体パターン62は導体パターン62P,62L,62Cで構成される。導体パターン61,62はダイポールアンテナを構成する。
RFICモジュール101は、アンテナ6の絶縁体フィルム60に接着剤層を介して絶縁性接着剤によって接着されている。アンテナ側第1端子電極11は接着剤層を介してアンテナ6の導体パターン61Pに対向し、アンテナ側第2端子電極12は接着剤層を介してアンテナ6の導体パターン62Pに対向する。この構造により、アンテナ側第1端子電極11及びアンテナ側第2端子電極12はアンテナ6の導体パターン61P,62Pにそれぞれ容量結合する。
本実施形態によれば、RFICモジュール101の基板に対するRFIC2の実装状態が安定していることと、RFICモジュール101の平坦性が高いこととで、安定した特性のRFIDタグ201が得られる。
最後に、上述の実施形態の説明は、すべての点で例示であって、制限的なものではない。当業者にとって変形及び変更が適宜可能である。本発明の範囲は、上述の実施形態ではなく、特許請求の範囲によって示される。さらに、本発明の範囲には、特許請求の範囲内と均等の範囲内での実施形態からの変更が含まれる。
例えば、以上に示した各実施形態では回路モジュールとしてRFICモジュールを例示したが、本発明に係る回路モジュールはRFICモジュールに限らず、所定の回路機能を有するモジュールに同様に適用できる。

- 互いに対向する第1面及び第2面を有する基板と、
前記基板の第1面に搭載されたICと、
前記基板の第1面及び第2面に、導体ペーストの加熱硬化による導体パターンで形成され、前記ICと外部回路との間に接続される回路と、
前記基板の第1面及び第2面の少なくとも一方に形成され、前記基板の第1面及び第2面における前記導体ペーストの平衡性を保つ、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるダミー導体パターンと、を備える、
回路モジュール。 - 前記ダミー導体パターンに導通する層間接続導体をさらに備える、
請求項1に記載の回路モジュール。 - 前記ダミー導体パターンは方向性識別マークである、
請求項1又は2に記載の回路モジュール。 - フレキシブルな絶縁体フィルムに形成された2つの導体パターンを備えるアンテナと、前記絶縁体フィルムに搭載され、前記アンテナに接続又は結合する回路モジュールとを備えるRFIDタグであって、
前記回路モジュールは、
互いに対向する第1面及び第2面を有する基板と、
前記基板の第1面に搭載されたRFICと、
前記基板の第1面及び第2面に、導体ペーストの加熱硬化による導体パターンで形成され、前記RFICと外部回路との間に接続されるインピーダンス整合回路と、
前記基板の第1面及び第2面の少なくとも一方に形成され、前記基板の第1面及び第2面における前記導体ペーストの平衡性を保つ、導体ペーストの加熱硬化によるダミー導体パターンと、を備える、
RFIDタグ。
