Definitions
- the present invention relates to a pest repellent, a pest repellent composition, and a method for repelling pests.
- Pests for example, flying pests such as mosquitoes and flies, are factors that cause pathogens in animals such as humans to cause infectious diseases and dermatitis.
- some mosquitoes are hygienically very harmful insects because they carry pathogens such as dengue fever, zika fever, yellow fever, encephalitis and malaria.
- a method of spraying an insecticide or applying a repellent to the skin surface has been widely used.
- DEET N, N-diethyl
- -M-toluamide is commonly used.
- Pests such as mosquitoes have chemoreceptive systems such as thermal receptors that sense the body temperature of animals, olfactory receptors that sense volatile substances such as body odor, and carbon dioxide receptors that sense carbon dioxide. Detect, but DEET repels pests by modulating the chemoreceptive system of such pests and neutralizing the pest's cognitive sensation.
- DEET has an unpleasant odor, and also requires a large amount of the compound to exhibit a sufficient repellent effect, which limits the number of uses for infants and people with sensitive skin. is there.

- the measurement of the surface tension and viscosity of the liquid oily component and the evaluation of the mosquito accretion rate were performed by the following methods.
- Viscosity Viscometer TVB-10 manufactured by Toki Sangyo Co., Ltd. was used as a B-type rotational viscometer according to JIS K7117-1: 1999. Since the values of the components to be measured greatly differ from one sample to another, it is difficult to accurately measure all components under one measurement condition. Therefore, measurement was performed using two types of rotors. The viscosity was measured at a rotation speed of 12 rpm in a 23 ° C. environment using a rotor M2. At this time, the component having a viscosity of 2500 mPa ⁇ s or more was measured again at a rotation speed of 6 rpm to obtain a value of the viscosity.
- the components having a viscosity of 20 mPa ⁇ s or less were measured again at a rotation speed of 30 rpm in an environment of 23 ° C. using an L adapter as a rotor for low viscosity to obtain a viscosity value. .
- the mosquito retention time was measured by a high-speed camera (Mini UX, manufactured by Photron Co., Ltd.). The shutter speed was 1000 fps, and a light source of 850 nm was used as a light source.
- the mosquito dwell time was verified by three mosquitoes, respectively. The mosquito dwell time was 0.1 to 0.2 seconds, and the mosquitoes stayed for 0.2 seconds or more, and the mosquitoes stayed on the surface coated with silicone oil a2. Did not.
- the mosquito accretion rate is determined by applying a repellent to the replica skin substrate as follows to form a substrate surface, and determining the number of mosquitoes that have settled on the substrate surface. By counting, the mosquito accretion rate on the coated surface was calculated by the following equation.
- the replica skin substrate is a disk having a diameter of 5 cm.
- “accidentally” means that the mosquito has stayed on the replica skin substrate for at least one second. This is because the mosquito starts to bite within a few seconds after landing on the skin, so that if it stays for more than 1 second, it can be determined that the mosquito has not exhibited the repellent effect.
- the four replica skin substrates were prepared, two of which were evenly coated with a repellent with a fingertip wearing rubber gloves, and the other two were not coated with the repellent. Thereafter, the four substrates were vertically mounted in a glass box having a length, width, and height of about 6 cm on each side, with the application surface inside.
- This box has a circular hole with a diameter of 4 cm in the vertical and horizontal directions when viewed from the top, and by setting the substrate there, a part of the inner wall surface of the box can be used as the substrate surface.
- Two adjacent surfaces among the four surfaces of the inner wall of the box were set as substrates to which the repellent was applied.
- mosquito accretion rate on the coated surface was calculated by the following equation. Mosquitoes that did not accumulate on the substrate and mosquitoes that did not accumulate within 10 seconds were not counted.
- Mosquito accretion rate on application surface (%) (number of mosquitoes deposited on two replica skin substrates coated with repellent / number of mosquitoes deposited on any of four replica skin substrates) ⁇ 100 When the above test was repeated, a fresh unused mosquito was used for each test, and the accretion rate was determined as an average value.
- Comparative Example 2 a frosted glass substrate (Tempax # 240, manufactured by Cosmode Co., Ltd.) was used instead of the replica skin substrate. This is because the 1,3-propanediol used in Comparative Example 2 did not spread on the polyurethane replica skin substrate.
- the measurement was terminated when the total number of mosquitoes that succeeded in landing (reached just before the start of biting) and mosquitoes that touched the skin but escaped without landing reached 15 animals. If the number did not reach 15, the measurement was terminated after 5 minutes.
- the mosquito landing rate was calculated by the following equation.
- Mosquito landing rate on forearm application surface (%) [number of mosquitoes landing on test site / (number of mosquitoes landing on test site + number of touched test sites but escaped)] x 100
- the rubber glove was removed, and the applied portion was washed with the above body wash. This test was performed on seven types of repellents, but all were performed using the same mosquito. The measurement was performed at intervals of about one hour, and the evaluation was performed in two days.
- Example 19 In Example 1, as the liquid oily components, polypropylene glycol (“Polypropylene glycol, diol type, 1000” manufactured by Fujifilm Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.) and 1,3-butylene glycol (Fujifilm Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.) as ether oils were used. The mosquito accretion rate was calculated in the same manner as in Example 1 except that a component obtained by mixing a mixture of “1,3-butanediol” manufactured by Co., Ltd.) at a mass ratio of 3: 7 was used. Table 2 shows the results.
- Example 2 the liquid oil component shown in Table 3 was uniformly applied at 0.25 mg / cm 2 to the replica skin substrate, and the mosquito landing rate was calculated. Table 3 shows the results.
- Example 28 In Example 20, in place of silicone oil a1, polypropylene glycol (“Polypropylene glycol, diol type, 1000”, manufactured by Fujifilm Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.) and polyhydric alcohol oil were used instead of silicone oil a1 in Example 20. Example 20 was repeated except that a component obtained by mixing a certain 1,3-butylene glycol (“1,3-butanediol”, manufactured by Fujifilm Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.) at a mass ratio of 3: 7 was used. The mosquito landing rate was calculated. Table 3 shows the results.
- Table 2 shows that when the application amount of the repellent was 0.5 mg / cm 2 , the repellents of the examples exhibited a low mosquito accretion rate of 22% or less and exhibited an excellent repellent effect. On the other hand, the repellent of the comparative example has a mosquito landing rate of 37% or more, which indicates that the repellent effect is insufficient.
- Table 3 shows that when the application amount of the repellent was 0.25 mg / cm 2 , the repellent of the example exhibited a low mosquito accretion rate of 26% or less and exhibited an excellent repellent effect.
- the pest repellent of the present invention has an excellent repellent effect on pests, especially flying pests, and is safe and odorless. Therefore, not only infants and people with sensitive skin, but also consumers who dislike application of chemicals can use it with confidence.

Abstract
Description
なお、液状油性成分の「液状」とは、米国材料試験協会規格「ASTM D 4359-90:Standard Test Method for Determining Whether a Material is a Liquid or Solid」による液体-固体の判定試験で、液体として判定されるものを意味する。
