光電気混載基板コネクタ1は、光導波路8における光の伝送方向に沿って延びる光電気混載基板2と、光電気混載基板2の装着領域5が装着されるコネクタ3とを備える。装着領域5は、光導波路8に対して光を入出力する基板先端面4を有する。コネクタ3は、基板先端面4と面一に配置されるコネクタ先端面16を有する。基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上、3μm以下である。基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1と、コネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2との差Dが、1μm以下である。

Description

光導波路部材コネクタおよびその製造方法
 本発明は、光導波路部材コネクタおよびその製造方法に関する。
 従来、光コネクタと、光コネクタに一端が挿入された光導波路フィルムとを備える光学部品が知られている(例えば、特許文献1参照。)。
 特許文献1では、光導波路フィルムの一端(光コネクタ先端領域)の端面を、カッティングソーを用いて切り出した後、光コネクタ先端領域を光コネクタに装着することにより、光学部品が製造されている。

 特許文献1に記載の光コネクタでは、光導波路フィルムの端面と光コネクタの端面とを面一にすることが困難となる場合、つまり、2つの端面がずれる場合がある。具体的には、光導波路フィルムの端面が、光コネクタの端面に対して突出したり、あるいは、後退し易い。一方、光導波路フィルムおよび光コネクタと接続される他の光学部品の端面は、通常、平坦である。すると、2つの端面がずれる光コネクタを、他の光学部品と光学的に接続しようすると、それらの端面間の境界において隙間を生じ、そこから、入出光が過度に損失するという不具合がある。
 また、かりに、光導波路フィルムの端面および光コネクタの端面が面一にすることができても、それらの端面と、他の光学部品の端面との間には、それらを接続する際に、異物が入り込み易く、かかる異物に起因して入出光が減衰するという不具合もある。
 他方、光導波路フィルムの端面が過度に平坦であれば、他の光学部品の端面と接着剤を介して接着するとき、接着強度が低下するという不具合がある。
 本発明は、入出光の損失や減衰を抑制することができ、かつ、他の光学部材との接着強度が高い光導波路部材コネクタおよびその製造方法を提供する。
 本発明(1)は、光導波路を備え、前記光導波路における光の伝送方向に沿って延びる光導波路部材と、前記光導波路部材の前記伝送方向一端部が装着されるコネクタとを備え、前記光導波路部材の前記伝送方向一端部は、前記光導波路に対して光を入出力する第1端面を有し、前記コネクタは、前記第1端面と面一に配置される第2端面を有し、前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上、3μm以下であり、前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1と、前記第2端面の表面粗さSRa2との差が、1μm以下である、光導波路部材コネクタを含む。
 この光導波路部材コネクタでは、光導波路部材の第1端面とコネクタの第2端面とが面一に配置されている。そのため、第1端面および第2端面を第2光学部材に密着させ易い。そうすると、第1端面および第2端面と、第2光学部材との間に隙間が形成されることを抑制することができる。その結果、入出光の損失を低減することができる。
 しかも、第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が3μm以下であり、かつ、光導波路部材の第1端面の表面粗さSRa1と、コネクタの第2端面の表面粗さSRa2との差が、1μm以下と小さい。そのため、第1端面と、他の光学部材との間に、異物が入り込むことを抑制することができる。その結果、この光導波路部材コネクタでは、入出光の損失をより一層抑制することができる。
 さらに、この光導波路部材コネクタでは、第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上であるため、第2光学部材の端面と接着剤を介して接着するとき、それらの接着強度に優れる。
 従って、この光導波路部材コネクタでは、入出光の減衰を抑制することができ、かつ、他の光学部材との接着強度に優れる。
 本発明(2)は、前記光導波路部材は、さらに電気回路基板を備える光電気混載基板である、(1)に記載の光導波路部材コネクタを含む。
 この光導波路部材コネクタでは、光電気混載基板は、入出光の減衰を抑制することができ、かつ、他の光学部材との接着強度に優れる。
 本発明(3)は、光導波路を備え、前記光導波路における光の伝送方向に沿って延びる光導波路部材、および、コネクタを準備する工程、前記光導波路部材の前記伝送方向一端部を前記コネクタに装着する工程、および、前記光導波路部材および前記コネクタを同時に切断して、前記光導波路部材および前記コネクタのそれぞれに、前記第1端面および前記第2端面のそれぞれを、前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上、3μm以下となり、前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1と、前記第2端面の表面粗さSRa2との差が、1μm以下となるように、形成する工程を備える、光導波路部材コネクタの製造方法を含む。
 この光導波路部材コネクタの製造方法では、光導波路部材およびコネクタを同時に切断するので、第1端面および第2端面を簡単かつ確実に面一に形成することができる。そのため、第1端面および第2端面を第2光学部材に密着させ易い。そうすると、第1端面および第2端面と、第2光学部材との間に隙間が形成されることを抑制することができる。
その結果、第2光学部材との隙間に起因する入出光の損失を低減することができる。
 また、第1端面および第2端面のそれぞれを、第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が3μm以下となり、第1端面の表面粗さSRa1と、第2端面の表面粗さSRa2との差が、1μm以下と小さくなるように、形成する。そのため、第1端面と、他の光学部材との間に、異物が入り込むことを抑制することができる。その結果、この光導波路部材コネクタでは、入出光の損失をより一層抑制することができる。
 さらに、光導波路部材およびコネクタのそれぞれに、第1端面および第2端面のそれぞれを、第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が0.2μm以上なるように、形成するので、第1端面を第2光学部材の端面と接着剤を介して接着するとき、それらの接着強度に優れる。
 従って、この製造方法によって得られた光導波路部材コネクタでは、入出光の減衰を抑制することができ、かつ、他の光学部材との接着強度に優れる。
 本発明の光導波路部材コネクタの製造方法およびそれにより得られた光導波路部材コネクタでは、入出光の減衰を抑制することができ、かつ、他の光学部材との接着強度に優れる。
図1は、本発明の光導波路部材コネクタの一実施形態としての光電気混載基板コネクタの正面図を示す。 図2は、図1に示す光電気混載基板コネクタの長手方向に沿う断面図を示す。 図3A~図3Bは、図2に示す光電気混載基板コネクタの製造工程図であり、図3Aが、光電気混載基板およびコネクタをそれぞれ準備する工程、図3Bが、光電気混載基板をコネクタに装着し、長手方向一端部を切断する工程を示す。 図4A~図4Bは、図1および図2に示す光電気混載基板コネクタの平面視に対応する製造工程図であり、図4Aが、コネクタを準備する工程、図4Bが、光電気混載基板をコネクタに装着し、長手方向一端部を切断する工程を示す。
 本発明の光導波路部材コネクタおよびその製造方法の一実施形態である光電気混載基板コネクタおよびその製造方法を、図1~図4Bに示す。
 なお、図4Bにおいて、後述する蓋10は、本体9とコネクタ3との相対配置を明確に示すために、省略している。
 図1、図2および図4Bに示すように、光電気混載基板コネクタ1は、光電気混載基板2と、コネクタ3とを備える。
 光電気混載基板2は、厚み方向に対向する一方面および他方面を有し、長手方向(厚み方向に直交する方向)(伝送方向の一例)に延びるシート(フィルム)形状を有する。また、光電気混載基板2は、一方面の幅方向(厚み方向および長手方向に直交する方向)両端縁と、他方面の幅方向両端縁とを連結する2つの側面を有する。さらに、光電気混載基板2は、一方面の長手方向一端縁および他方面の長手方向一端縁を連結する一端面である基板先端面4と、一方面の長手方向他端縁および他方面の長手方向他端縁を連結する他端面(図示せず)とを有する。これにより、光電気混載基板2は、上記した一方面、他方面、2つの側面、基板先端面4および他端面(図示せず)の6つの面を一体的に有する。
 また、光電気混載基板2は、長手方向一端部において、コネクタ3に装着される装着領域5と、装着領域5の長手方向他方側に連続する非装着領域6とを一体的に有する。
 装着領域5は、上記した一方面の長手方向一端部、他方面の長手方向一端部、2つの側面の長手方向一端部、および、基板先端面4を有する。
 また、この光電気混載基板2は、電気回路基板7と、光導波路8とを厚み方向に順に備える。この一実施形態では、光電気混載基板2は、電気回路基板7と、光導波路8とを厚み方向一方側に向かって順に備える。好ましくは、光電気混載基板2は、電気回路基板7と、光導波路8とのみを備える。
 電気回路基板7は、長手方向に延びるシート(フィルム)形状を有する。この電気回路基板7は、図示しないが、例えば、金属支持基板、ベース絶縁層、導体層、および、カバー絶縁層を厚み方向他方側に向かって順に備える。なお、電気回路基板7における各層の詳細は、例えば、特開2016-105160号公報、特開2016-085402号公報に詳述されている。
 なお、電気回路基板7の長手方向一端面は、基板先端面4における厚み方向他方側部分を構成する。
 光導波路8は、電気回路基板7の厚み方向一方面に配置されている。光導波路8は、長手方向に延びるシート(フィルム)形状を有する。光導波路8は、例えば、ストリップ型光導波路であって、具体的には、アンダークラッド層20と、コア層21と、オーバークラッド層22とを厚み方向一方側に向かって順に備える。
 アンダークラッド層20は、電気回路基板7の厚み方向一方面に配置されている。
 コア層21は、アンダークラッド層20の厚み方向一方面に配置されている。コア層21は、幅方向に互いに間隔を隔てて複数配置されている。複数のコア層21は、長手方向に延びている。これにより、光導波路8は、長手方向に光を伝送可能である。
 オーバークラッド層22は、アンダークラッド層20の厚み方向一方面に、コア層21の厚み方向一方面および2つの側面を被覆するように配置されている。
 アンダークラッド層20、コア層21およびオーバークラッド層22の材料としては、例えば、エポキシ樹脂、アクリル樹脂などの透明性樹脂が挙げられる。アンダークラッド層20、コア層21およびオーバークラッド層22のうち、コア層21の屈折率は、アンダークラッド層20およびオーバークラッド層22の屈折率に対して、高い。
 アンダークラッド層20、コア層21およびオーバークラッド層22の長手方向一端面は、面一であり、基板先端面4における厚み方向一方側部分を構成する。
 また、光導波路8の長手方向一端面は、電気回路基板7の長手方向一端面と面一であり、これらは、基板先端面4を構成している。つまり、この光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4は、電気回路基板7の長手方向一端面と、光導波路8の長手方向一端面とから1つの面に形成されている。
 光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1は、0.2μm以上、好ましくは、0.25μm以上、より好ましくは、0.5μm以上である。基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1が上記した下限を下回ると、基板先端面4と、後述する光ファイバ28の光学端面26(図2参照)とを、接着剤で接着するときに、接着強度が低下する。
 一方、この光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1は、3μm以下、好ましくは、2.5μm以下、より好ましくは、2.0μm以下である。基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1が上記した上限を上回ると、基板先端面4と後述する、後述する光ファイバ28の光学端面26(図2参照)との間に、異物が入り込むことを抑制することができない。
 光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1は、JIS B0601(2009)に基づいて測定される。
 コネクタ3は、光電気混載基板2の装着領域5を固定して装着している。コネクタ3は、本体9と、蓋10とを備える。
 本体9は、厚み方向一方側に向かって開放される正面視略コ字形状を有する。本体9は、光電気混載基板2の装着領域5を、厚み方向他方側および幅方向両外側から支持している。具体的には、本体9は、底壁11と、2つの側壁12とを一体的に備える。
 図1、図2および図4Aに示すように、底壁11は、光電気混載基板2の長手方向に延びる略矩形平板形状を有する。底壁11は、厚み方向に互いに間隔を隔てて対向する一方面および他方面を有する。さらに、底壁11は、一方面の長手方向一端縁および他方面の長手方向一端縁を連結する一端面である底壁端面13と、一方面の長手方向他端縁および他方面の長手方向他端縁を連結する他端面とを備える。
 図2に示すように、底壁11の一方面は、光電気混載基板2の装着領域5の他方面と厚み方向において対向している。一方、底壁11の底壁端面13は、光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4と厚み方向において面一である。
 2つの側壁12のそれぞれは、光電気混載基板2に面する内側面と、その幅方向外側に間隔を隔てて対向する外側面とを有する。さらに、側壁12は、内側面の長手方向一端縁および外側面の長手方向一端縁を連結する一端面である側壁端面14と、内側面の長手方向他端縁および外側面の長手方向他端縁を連結する他端面とを有する。
 2つの側壁12の内側面のそれぞれは、光電気混載基板2の装着領域5の2つの側面のそれぞれと幅方向において対向している。一方、側壁12の側壁端面14は、光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4と幅方向において面一である。
 蓋10は、長手方向に延びる略矩形平板形状を有する。蓋10は、底壁11の厚み方向一方側に光電気混載基板2が収容される領域を挟んで対向配置されている。蓋10は、底壁11に対して平行している。蓋10は、厚み方向に互いに間隔を隔てて対向する一方面および他方面を有する。また、蓋10は、一方面の幅方向両端縁と、他方面の幅方向両端縁とを連結する2つの側面を有する。さらに、蓋10は、一方面の長手方向一端縁および他方面の長手方向一端縁を連結する一端面である蓋先端面15と、一方面の長手方向他端縁および他方面の長手方向他端縁を連結する他端面とを備える。
 このコネクタ3では、底壁11の底壁端面13と、側壁12の側壁端面14と、蓋先端面15とは、1つの面として、コネクタ先端面16を形成している。コネクタ先端面16は、正面視略矩形枠形状を有する。
 コネクタ先端面16は、基板先端面4と、厚み方向および幅方向において面一に形成されている。つまり、コネクタ先端面16と基板先端面4とは、厚み方向および幅方向に連続している。
 なお、図3Bおよび図4Bが参照されるように、コネクタ先端面16および基板先端面4は、例えば、後述する切断により形成される切断面でもある。
 コネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2は、次に説明する基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1との差Dが、所望範囲となるように設定される。具体的には、コネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2は、例えば、0.2μm以上、好ましくは、0.25μm以上、より好ましくは、0.5μm以上であり、また、例えば、3μm以下、好ましくは、2.5μm以下、より好ましくは、2μm以下である。
 コネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2および基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1は、JIS B0601(2009)に基づいて測定される。
 基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1とコネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2との差Dは、1μm以下、好ましくは、0.75μm以下、より好ましくは、0.5μm以下、さらに好ましくは、0.25μm以下、とりわけ好ましくは、0.1μm以下であり、また、0μm以上である。なお、基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1とコネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2との差Dは、それらの差の絶対値(|SRa1-SRa2|)である。
 基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1とコネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2との差Dが、上記した上限を上回れば、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16と、他の第2光学部材25との間に、異物が入り込むことを抑制することができない。
 次に、光電気混載基板コネクタ1の製造方法およびその使用方法を説明する。
 図3Aに示すように、光電気混載基板コネクタ1の製造方法では、まず、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3を準備する。
 例えば、金属支持基板に、ベース絶縁層、導体層、および、カバー絶縁層を厚み方向他方側に向かって、公知の方法によって、順に配置して、電気回路基板7を製造する。続いて、電気回路基板7に、アンダークラッド層20と、コア層21と、オーバークラッド層22とを厚み方向一方側に、公知の方法によって、順に配置することにより、電気回路基板7に対して、光導波路8を作り込む。あるいは、電気回路基板7と光導波路8とを別々に製造し、それらを貼り合わせることもできる。これにより、光電気混載基板2を準備する。
 なお、このとき、光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4は、上記した表面粗さSRa1をすでに有してもよく、あるいは、まだ有さなくてもよい。
 別途、上記した形状を有する本体9および蓋10を準備する。このとき、本体9の底壁端面13および側壁端面14と、蓋10の蓋先端面15とは、上記した表面粗さSRa2をすでに有してもよく、あるいは、まだ有さなくてもよい。
 図1、図3Bおよび図4Bに示すように、次いで、光電気混載基板コネクタ1の装着領域5を、コネクタ3に装着する。
 具体的には、光電気混載基板コネクタ1の装着領域5を、本体9に装着する。具体的には、装着領域5における側面と、コネクタ3の側壁12の内側面とが対向するように、装着領域5における他方面を、底壁11の一方面に接触させる。このようにして、装着領域5に、コネクタ3に嵌め込む。
 この際、光電気混載基板コネクタ1の基板先端面4と、本体9の底壁端面13および側壁端面14とは、厚み方向および幅方向に投影したときに、ずれていて(面一でなくて)もよい。例えば、基板先端面4は、底壁端面13および側壁端面14に対して、長手方向他方側にずれて(後退して)いる。あるいは、図2Aの仮想線で示すように、基板先端面4は、底壁端面13および側壁端面14に対して、長手方向一方側にずれて(突出して)もよい。
 同時に、蓋10と底壁11とで光電気混載基板2を厚み方向に挟み込むように、かつ、蓋10の2つの側面がコネクタ3の側壁12の内側面と対向するように、蓋10を、光電気混載基板2および側壁12の内側面の厚み方向一端部に配置する。
 この際、光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4と、蓋10の蓋先端面15とは、厚み方向に投影したときに、ずれていて(面一でなくて)もよい。例えば、基板先端面4は、蓋先端面15に対して、長手方向他方側にずれて(後退して)いる。あるいは、図2Aの仮想線で示すように、基板先端面4は、蓋先端面15に対して、長手方向一方側にずれて(突出して)もよい。
 さらに、図示しないが、蓋10の蓋先端面15と、本体9の底壁端面13および側壁端面14とは、厚み方向および幅方向に投影したときに、ずれていて(面一でなくて)もよい。
 なお、光電気混載基板2および蓋10を本体9に対して配置するとき、光電気混載基板2の一方面、他方面、および、2つの側面の少なくともいずれか一面に、図示しない接着剤を配置する。接着剤は、透明性を有しており、後述する異物に相当しない。接着剤によって、光電気混載基板2、蓋10および本体9を互いに強固に結合する。
 蓋10および本体9は、正面視において、光電気混載基板2を取り囲む枠形状を有するコネクタ3を構成する。
 図3Bおよび図4Bの太線一点破線で示すように、その後、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3の長手方向一端部を同時に切断して、光電気混載基板2に、上記した表面粗さSRa1を有する基板先端面4(図2参照)を形成し、コネクタ3に、上記した表面粗さSRa2を有するコネクタ先端面16(図2参照)を形成する。
 具体的には、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3の長手方向一端部(厚み方向および幅方向に投影したときに、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3が重複する部分)を、厚み方向および幅方向に沿って、切断装置によって一度に切断して、上記した長手方向一端部を切り落とす。切断装置としては、例えば、ダイシングソーが挙げられる。
 これによって、上記した表面粗さSRa1を有する基板先端面4と、上記した表面粗さSRa2を有するコネクタ先端面16とが同時に形成される。
 これによって、光電気混載基板コネクタ1が製造される。
 その後、図2の仮想線で示すように、この光電気混載基板コネクタ1には、別の第2光学部材25が光学的に接続される。
 第2光学部材25は、光ファイバ28と、その周囲に配置される第2コネクタ29とを備える。光ファイバ28の光学端面26、および、第2コネクタ29の支持端面27は、面一であって、ともに露出している。光学端面26および支持端面27は、1つの面を形成している。
 具体的には、光電気混載基板コネクタ1における基板先端面4を光学端面26と長手方向に対向配置し、また、コネクタ先端面16を支持端面27と長手方向に対向配置する。
 これらの配置の際、上記した端面には、図示しない接着剤を配置する。接着剤は、透明性を有しており、後述する異物に相当しない。
 これによって、光電気混載基板コネクタ1と第2光学部材25とが光学的に接続される。
 そして、この光電気混載基板コネクタ1では、光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4とコネクタのコネクタ先端面16とが面一に配置されている。そのため、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16を第2光学部材25に密着させ易い。そうすると、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16と、第2光学部材25との間に隙間が形成されることを抑制することができる。その結果、第2光学部材25との隙間に起因する入出光の損失を低減することができる。
 しかも、基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1が3μm以下であり、かつ、光電気混載基板2の基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1と、コネクタ3のコネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2との差Dが、1μm以下と小さい。そのため、基板先端面4と、第2光学部材25の光学端面26および支持端面27との間に、異物が入り込むことを抑制することができる。その結果、この光電気混載基板コネクタ1では、入出光の損失を抑制することができる。
 さらに、この光電気混載基板コネクタ1では、基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上であるため、光ファイバ28の光学端面26と接着剤を介して接着するとき、それらの接着強度に優れる。
 従って、この光電気混載基板コネクタ1では、入出光の減衰を抑制することができ、かつ、第2光学部材25との接着強度に優れる。
 この光電気混載基板コネクタ1の製造方法では、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3を同時に切断するので、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16を簡単かつ確実に面一に形成することができる。そのため、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16を第2光学部材25に密着させ易い。その結果、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16と、第2光学部材25との隙間に起因する入出光の損失を低減することができる。
 また、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3を、それらの重複部分を同時にダイシングソーで切断するので、基板先端面4の表面粗さSRa1およびコネクタ先端面16の表面粗さSRa2を同じ値または近似する値に設定することができ、そのため、差Dを1μm以下と小さく設定することができる。上記した異物の進入に起因する入出光の損失を抑制できる。
 (変形例)
 次に、一実施形態の変形例を説明する。以下の各変形例において、上記した一実施形態と同様の部材および工程については、同一の参照符号を付し、その詳細な説明を省略する。また、各変形例を適宜組み合わせることができる。さらに、各変形例は、特記する以外、一実施形態と同様の作用効果を奏することができる。
 一実施形態では、光導波路8は、アンダークラッド層20と、コア層21と、オーバークラッド層22とを厚み方向一方側に向かって順に備えるが、例えば、図示しないが、それらを厚み方向他方側に向かって順に備えることもできる。
 また、一実施形態では、光電気混載基板2は、電気回路基板7と、光導波路8とを厚み方向一方側に向かって順に備えるが、例えば、図示しないが、それらを厚み方向他方側に向かって順に備えることもできる。
 また、一実施形態では、光導波路部材の一例としての光電気混載基板2を例示しているが、例えば、図示しないが、光導波路部材の一例は、電気回路基板7を備えず、光導波路8を備える。好ましくは、光導波路部材の一例は、光導波路8である。この場合には、光導波路部材コネクタの一例は、光導波路コネクタである。
 また、光電気混載基板コネクタ1は、上記した製造方法のみによって得られるものに限定されず、具体的には、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3を同時に切断する製造方法に限定されず、例えば、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3の両方を別々に(分離して)切断したものを、基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16が面一となるように、光電気混載基板2をコネクタ3に装着することもできる。
 以下に実施例および比較例を示し、本発明をさらに具体的に説明する。なお、本発明は、何ら実施例および比較例に限定されない。また、以下の記載において用いられる配合割合(割合)、物性値、パラメータなどの具体的数値は、上記の「発明を実施するための形態」において記載されている、それらに対応する配合割合(割合)、物性値、パラメータなど該当記載の上限(「以下」、「未満」として定義されている数値)または下限(「以上」、「超過」として定義されている数値)に代替することができる。
  実施例1
 上記した形状を有する電気回路基板7と光導波路8とから光電気混載基板2を製造した。また、上記した形状を有するコネクタ3を製造した。
 続いて、光電気混載基板2の装着領域5を本体9に装着し、続いて、蓋10を光電気混載基板2および側壁12の内側面の厚み方向一端部に配置した。光電気混載基板コネクタ1および蓋10の配置に際しては、接着剤を用いた。
 続いて、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3の長手方向一端部を、厚み方向および幅方向に沿って同時に切断した。
 これにより、表1に記載の表面粗さSRa1およびSRa2を有する光電気混載基板コネクタ1を製造した。
 なお、表1の「光電気混載基板コネクタの製造方法」欄中、「同時に切断」は、光電気混載基板2をコネクタ3に装着した後、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3の長手方向一端部を同時に切断する方法を意味し、「分離して切断」は、光電気混載基板2をコネクタ3に装着する前に、光電気混載基板2およびコネクタ3の長手方向一端部を分離して切断する方法を意味する。
  実施例2~比較例8
 表面粗さ、および、製造方法を、表1の記載に従って変更した。
  <評価>
 まず、光導波路8としてのマルチモード光ファイバ(GI型直径50μm、三喜社製、FFP-GI20-0500)、および、コネクタ3を備える光導波路コネクタを準備した。なお、光導波路8は、VCSEL光源(三喜社製、OP250-LS-850-MM-50-SC、発光波長850nm)と光学的に接続されている。
 別途、光ファイバ28としてのマルチモード光ファイバ(GI型直径50μm、三喜社製、FFP-GI20-0500)と、第2コネクタ29を備える第2光学部材29を準備した。なお、光ファイバ28は、受光器(アドバンテスト社製、光マルチメータ、Q8221)と光学的に接続されている。
 そして、光導波路コネクタの光導波路先端面およびコネクタ先端面と、第2光学部材29の光学端面26および支持端面27とを突き合わせた。
具体的には、光電気混載基板コネクタ1の基板先端面4およびコネクタ先端面16と、第2光学部材25のコネクタ先端面16と基板先端面4と、支持端面27とを対向して配置して、接着剤により、それらを光学的に接続した。その後、下記の通りの項目を評価し、その結果を、表1に示す。
  面一
 コネクタ先端面16と基板先端面4とが面一になっているかを、レーザ顕微鏡(キーエンス社製)により観察した。
  異物の存在
 コネクタ先端面16および基板先端面4と、第2光学部材25の光学端面26および支持端面27との間に、異物が存在するか否かを光学顕微鏡(キーエンス社製)により観察した。
  光の損失
 VCSEL光源からの光を受光器で受光し、その受光強度を測定し、以下の基準で、光の損失を評価した。
○ 損失が0.2dB未満
△ 損失が0.2dB以上~1dB未満
× 損失が1dB以上
  接着強度 
 光電気混載基板コネクタ1および第2光学部材25間の接着強度(剥離強度)を、引張試験機(ピール強度測定器)により測定し、以下の基準で接着強度を評価した。
○ 剥離強度が15N以上
× 剥離強度が15N未満

 なお、上記発明は、本発明の例示の実施形態として提供したが、これは単なる例示に過ぎず、限定的に解釈してはならない。当該技術分野の当業者によって明らかな本発明の変形例は、後記請求の範囲に含まれる。
 本発明の光導波路部材コネクタは、例えば、光電気混載基板コネクタに用いられる。

Claims (3)

  1.  光導波路を備え、前記光導波路における光の伝送方向に沿って延びる光導波路部材と、
     前記光導波路部材の前記伝送方向一端部が装着されるコネクタとを備え、
     前記光導波路部材の前記伝送方向一端部は、前記光導波路に対して光を入出力する第1端面を有し、
     前記コネクタは、前記第1端面と面一に配置される第2端面を有し、
     前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上、3μm以下であり、
     前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1と、前記第2端面の表面粗さSRa2との差が、1μm以下であることを特徴とする、光導波路部材コネクタ。
  2.  前記光導波路部材は、さらに電気回路基板を備える光電気混載基板であることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の光導波路部材コネクタ。
  3.  光導波路を備え、前記光導波路における光の伝送方向に沿って延びる光導波路部材、および、コネクタを準備する工程、
     前記光導波路部材の前記伝送方向一端部を前記コネクタに装着する工程、および、
     前記光導波路部材および前記コネクタを同時に切断して、前記光導波路部材および前記コネクタのそれぞれに、前記光導波路に対して光を入出力する前記第1端面および前記第2端面のそれぞれを、前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1が、0.2μm以上、3μm以下となり、前記第1端面の表面粗さSRa1と前記第2端面の表面粗さSRa2との差が、
    1μm以下となるように、形成する工程
    を備えることを特徴とする、光導波路部材コネクタの製造方法。
