ゴルフシャフト
 本発明は、スチール製の素管を繊維強化プラスチックの外層で被覆したゴルフシャフトに関する。
 ゴルフシャフトとしては、スチール製のゴルフシャフトの打感を残しつつ軽量化を図るために、スチール製の素管を薄肉化すると共に外側を繊維強化プラスチックの外層で被覆したものがある。
 このようなゴルフシャフトでは、スチール製の素管の外周面に防錆等のためのメッキが施される関係上、素管に対する外層の密着性が悪いという問題がある。
 これに対し、特許文献1では、素管と外層との間に不織布の内層を介在させて、素管と外層との密着性を向上させている。
 しかし、特許文献1は、素管と外層との密着性が十分とはいえず、素管の表面を研磨することで密着性を補っているため、製造工程が多くなるという問題がある。

 解決しようとする問題点は、素管の表面を研磨することなく十分な密着性を得ることができなかった点である。
 本発明は、素管の表面を研磨することなく十分な密着性を得るため、スチール製の素管と、該素管の外周に形成されたメッキ層と、該メッキ層を被覆する外層と、前記メッキ層と前記外層との間に介在して前記メッキ層と前記外層との間を接着する接着層とを備え、前記外層は、エポキシ樹脂をマトリックス樹脂とする繊維強化プラスチックで形成され、前記接着層は、エポキシ樹脂及び二種以上のアミン系硬化剤を混合した混合硬化剤を含有するエポキシ樹脂組成物、又はエポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したカーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物であることをゴルフシャフトの特徴とする。
 本発明は、外層及びメッキ層に対する密着性が高い接着層を介在させることにより、素管の表面となるメッキ層を研磨することなく外層と素管との間の十分な密着性を確保できる。

 本発明は、素管の表面を研磨することなく十分な密着性を得るという目的を、素管の表面のメッキ層と外層とに対する密着性が高い接着層により実現した。
 具体的には、外層がマトリックス樹脂をエポキシ樹脂とする繊維強化プラスチックであり、接着層をエポキシ樹脂及び二種以上のアミン系硬化剤を混合した混合硬化剤を含有するエポキシ樹脂組成物、又はエポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したカーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物とした。
 接着層がエポキシ樹脂組成物の場合、アミン系硬化剤は、脂肪族ポリアミン、脂環式ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリアミドアミンから選択された異なる二種以上のアミン系硬化剤とすることが可能である。
 この場合、アミン系硬化剤をトリエチレンテトラミン及びポリアミドアミンの二種類とし、ポリアミドアミンがトリエチレンテトラミンよりも多くなるように配合してもよい。
 接着層がカーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物である場合、エポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したものとしてもよい。
 この場合、硬化剤は、アミン系硬化剤又は酸無水物系硬化剤とすることが可能である。
  [ゴルフシャフトの構造]
 図1は、ゴルフシャフトの側面図であり、(A)はゴルフシャフトの全体、(B)は(A)の一部を拡大して示す。図2は、図1のゴルフシャフトの概略縦断面図である。図3は、図1のIII-III線に係るゴルフシャフトの概略横断面図である。なお、図1~図3は、各部の寸法が一致していないが基本的に同一構造である。
 ゴルフシャフト1は、管状に形成され、軸方向の先端1aがゴルフクラブのヘッドが取り付けられる部分、軸方向の基端1bがゴルフクラブのグリップが取り付けられる部分となっている。
 本実施例のゴルフシャフト1は、素管3と、メッキ層5と、外層7と、接着層9とを備えて構成されている。
 素管3は、スチール製であり、横断面における断面形状が円形の中空管状シャフトからなる。本実施例の素管3は、段付き形状であり、複数の直管部11と隣接する直管部11間を接続する複数のテーパ管部13とで形成されている。
 直管部11は、肉厚及び内外周の径が一定の部分である。隣接する直管部11間では、素管3の先端3a側に位置する直管部11に対して基端3b側に位置する直管部11の内外周の径が大きくなっていると共に肉厚が薄くなっている。
 テーパ管部13は、隣接する直管部11の径の違い及び肉厚の違いを吸収するものであり、先端3a側から基端3b側に向けて内外周の径が漸次径が大きくなっていると共に肉厚が漸次薄くなっている。テーパ管部13の軸方向の長さは、直管部11よりも短い。
 本実施例の素管3において、外径が最も大きい部分で14.50mmとなっており、この部分での肉厚が0.206mmとなっている。一方、外径が最も小さい部分で8.00mmとなっており、この部分での肉厚が0.294mmとなっている。
 なお、素管3は、段付き形状のものに限られず、外周の径が一定のストレート形状や全体としてテーパ管形状とすることも可能である。また、素管3の肉厚は、軸方向で一定にしたり、あるいは部分的に変動させることも可能である。さらに、素管3の横断面における断面形状は、円形に限らず楕円形など適宜選択することができる。
 メッキ層5は、素管3の外周面3cの全体に設けられており、素管3の表面を構成している。メッキ層5としては、例えば、銅、ニッケル、クロム、亜鉛、スズ、金等のメッキとすることができるが、本実施例においてニッケルメッキを2層重ねた上にクロムメッキを施している。
 メッキ層5の肉厚は、素管3の肉厚に対してごく薄く、各ニッケルメッキが0.005mm、クロムメッキが0.0003mmとなっており、合計約0.0103mmとなっている。ただし、メッキ層5の肉厚は、これに限られるものではない。
 外層7は、メッキ層5を被覆する管状であり、エポキシ樹脂をマトリックス樹脂とすると共に繊維シートを強化材とする繊維強化プラスチックで形成されている。なお、本実施例の外層7は、メッキ層5の全体を被覆するが、軸方向においてメッキ層5の一部を被覆するものであってもよい。
 外層7は、後述するプリプレグ17(図4及び図5)を接着層9を介して素管3に巻き付け加熱することによって形成される。プリプレグ17は、硬化剤を含有するエポキシ樹脂を繊維シートに含浸させた繊維強化プラスチックシートである。
 外層7に用いられる硬化剤は、脂肪族ポリアミン、脂環式ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリアミドアミン等の内から選択された一種類である。
 繊維シートには、金属繊維、ボロン繊維、炭素繊維、ガラス繊維、セラミクス繊維などの無機系繊維、アラミド繊維、その他の高強力合成繊維などを使用することができる。無機繊維は軽量かつ高強力であることから好ましく使用される。中でも、炭素繊維は、比強度、比剛性に優れるので最適である。従って、本実施例では、繊維シートとして炭素繊維シートを用いている。
 なお、図1において外層7は、メッキ層5に倣って形成されており、段付き形状になっている。ただし、外層7は、ゴルフシャフト1の製造時に切削されるため、切削態様にもよるが、実際は、段付き形状とはなっていないことが多い。
 これに応じ、外層7の肉厚は、軸方向において変動するが、素管3の肉厚よりも厚い範囲に設定されている。本実施例において、外層7の肉厚は、最も厚い部分で約0.700mm、最も薄い部分で約0.330mmとなっている。ただし、設計によっては、外層7の肉厚を1.000mm~0.200mmの範囲にしても良い。
 接着層9は、メッキ層5と外層7との間に介在し、メッキ層5と外層7との間を接着する管状となっている。本実施例の接着層9は、メッキ層5に倣って形成されており、段付き形状になっている。
 接着層9の肉厚は、ほぼ一定であり、外層7及び素管3の肉厚よりも薄い。本実施例の接着層9の肉厚は0.02mm程度となっている。接着層9の肉厚は、これに限られるものではなく、メッキ層5と外層7との間を接着できる範囲で変動することが可能である。
 接着層9は、エポキシ樹脂及び二種以上のアミン系硬化剤を混合した混合硬化剤を含有するエポキシ樹脂組成物からなっている。この接着層9は、メッキ層5と外層7とに対する密着性がメッキ層5と外層7とを直接密着させる場合の密着性に対して高いものとなっている。
 本実施例の接着層9には、クリヤ塗料を用いている。具体的には、クリヤ塗料の液状のエポキシ樹脂及び液状の混合硬化剤を2:1の割合で混ぜた接着層液剤15(図4)が加熱により硬化して形成されたものとなっている。
 液状のエポキシ樹脂は、樹脂成分を73.96%、溶剤を25.77%、添加材を0.27%の割合で含有している。液状の硬化剤は、樹脂成分を64.82%、溶剤を26.82%、添加材を8.36%の割合で含有している。
 従って、硬化前の接着層液剤15は、上記混合により、樹脂成分が70%程度、溶剤が26%程度、添加剤が3%程度となっている。なお、上記成分の含有割合は、一例であり、適宜変更することが可能である。
 接着層液剤の樹脂成分は、エポキシ樹脂及びアミン系硬化剤である。アミン系硬化剤としては、例えば脂肪族ポリアミン、脂環式ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリアミドアミン等である。二種以上のアミン系硬化剤は、アミン系硬化剤から選択された異なる二種以上のアミン系硬化剤をいう。
 本実施例では、脂肪族ポリアミンであるトリエチレンテトラミン及びポリアミドアミンの二種類が用いられている。このときの配合割合は、ポリアミドアミンがトリエチレンテトラミンよりも多くなるように設定されている。具体的には、ポリアミドアミンに対してトリエチレンテトラミンが4%程度となっている。
 接着層液剤の溶剤は、キシレン、メチルイソブルチルケトン、イソブタノール、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トルエン等である。接着層液剤の添加剤は、シランカップリングのようなカップリング剤等とすることができる。
  [ゴルフシャフトの製造]
 図4は、ゴルフシャフト1の製造工程を示す概略断面図である。
 本実施例の製造では、まず、図4(A)のように、段付き形状を有し外周面3cにメッキ層5が形成された素管3を用意する。この素管3のメッキ層5の表面に、図4(B)のように、液状のエポキシ樹脂に液状の硬化剤を混合した接着層液剤15を塗布する。接着層液剤15の塗布は、例えばしごき塗装によって行うことができる。ただし、吹き付け塗装等の他の塗布方法を用いることも可能である。
 接着層液剤15は、上記のように、クリヤ塗料であり、液状のエポキシ樹脂及び液状の混合硬化剤を2:1の割合で混合したものとなっている。
 次いで、図4(C)のように、接着層液剤15が塗布されたメッキ層5の表面にプリプレグ17を巻き付けて巻付品19を形成する。
 本実施例においては、所定の裁断形状と寸法を有する複数枚のプリプレグをメッキ層5を有する素管3に対して順次巻き付けて積層する。
 図5は、積層される複数枚のプリプレグを示す展開図である。
 本実施例では、例えば図5のような裁断形状と寸法とをもつ第1~第6のプリプレグ17a~17fを素管3の軸方向の所定位置に順次巻き付ける。
 第1のプリプレグ17aは、繊維が軸方向に対し±45°の方向に配向された2枚のプリプレグを貼り合わせたもので、素管3の軸方向の全体に巻き付けられる。
 第2のプリプレグ17bは、繊維が軸方向に配向された1枚のプリプレグからなり、第1のプリプレグ17aと同様に素管3の軸方向全体に巻き付けられる。
 第3のプリプレグ17cは、繊維が軸方向に配向された1枚のプリプレグからなり、素管3の中間部から基端3bに巻き付けられるものである。この第3のプリプレグ17cは、第4のプリプレグ17dに貼り合わされる。
 第4のプリプレグ17dは、第2のプリプレグ17bと同様に繊維が軸方向に配向された1枚のプリプレグからなり、第3のプリプレグ17cが貼り合わせられた状態で素管3の軸方向全体に巻き付けられる。
 第5のプリプレグ17eは、繊維が軸方向に配向された1枚のプリプレグからなり、素管3の先端3aから中間部に巻き付けられる。
 第6のプリプレグ17fは、繊維が軸方向に配向された1枚のプリプレグからなり、第5プリプレグ17eよりも更に短い先端3aから中間部までの範囲に巻き付けられる。
 こうして第1~第6のプリプレグ17a~17fが素管3に対して積層状態で巻き付けられて図4(C)の巻付品19が形成される。なお、第1~第6のプリプレグ17a~17fとしては、四軸や三軸のような多軸織物を用いることも可能である。また、プリプレグ17の層の数や形状並びに巻き付け順序等は、一例であり、ゴルフクラブの性能等により任意に決めることが可能である。
 かかる巻付品19は、図4(D)のように、外周に保持用のポリプロピレン等のテープ21が巻き付けられ、プリプレグ17の巻き付け状態が保持されることになる。
 そして、テープ21が巻かれた巻付品19は、加熱炉中にて加熱されて、プリプレグ17及び接着層液剤15を硬化させて外層7及び接着層9が形成される。
 その後は、テープ21を取り外し、外層7を切削して所望の特性を得るための調整が行われる。かかる切削時には、外層7に残ったテープ21の巻き付け痕が除去されるので、品質を向上することができる。
 こうして、スチール製の素管3が繊維強化プラスチックの外層7によって被覆されたゴルフシャフト1が製造される。
  [軽量化と剛性分布]
 図6は、ゴルフシャフトの剛性分布を概略的に示すグラフである。図6では、縦軸が曲げ剛性(EI)、横軸が先端からの距離を示す。
 図6において、スチール1、スチール2、実施例品は、何れも41インチのゴルフシャフトであり、スチール1及びスチール2がスチール製のゴルフシャフトを示し、実施例品が上記のようにスチール製の素管3に繊維強化プラスチックの外層7を巻いた実施例1に係るゴルフシャフト1を示す。
 41インチのゴルフシャフトにおいては、スチール製の場合、図6の特性(剛性分布)を得るには肉厚の調整により重量が120gとなった。スチール製では、目的の特性を得ることと軽量化との両立が難しく、図6の特性を維持しながらこれ以上の軽量化は困難であった。
 これに対し、実施例品では、スチール製の素管3を薄肉にして外周に繊維強化プラスチックの外層7を巻き、この外層7を研磨することで図6のようにスチール製のゴルフシャフトと同等の特性を得ながら重量を90gに抑えることができた。
 図7に製造過程における剛性分布の変化を示す。なお、図7は、図6と同様、縦軸が曲げ剛性(EI)、横軸が先端からの距離を示す。
 実施例品の素管3は、スチール1及びスチール2に対して薄肉化されたことで、図7のように先端3aから基端3bまでほぼ直線状に剛性が増加するものとなっている(図7の素管)。このときの素管3の重量は、本実施例において70gである。
 そして、この素管3に外層7を巻いて目的の剛性分布に倣った剛性分布を得ているが、このときの剛性分布は目的の剛性分布よりも全体として高めに設定されている(図7の未研磨品)。その後、外層7を切削することで図6に対応する特性が得られている(図7の研磨品)。このときのゴルフシャフト1の重量が90gとなっている。
  [実施例1の効果]
 本実施例のゴルフシャフト1は、スチール製の素管3と、この素管3の外周に形成されたメッキ層5と、このメッキ層5を被覆する外層7と、メッキ層5と外層7との間に介在してメッキ層5と外層7との間を接着する接着層9とを備えている。
 外層7は、エポキシ樹脂をマトリックス樹脂とすると共に繊維シートを強化材とする繊維強化プラスチックで形成され、接着層9は、エポキシ樹脂及び二種以上のアミン系硬化剤を混合した混合硬化剤を含有するエポキシ樹脂組成物である。
 従って、本実施例のゴルフシャフト1は、外層7及びメッキ層5に対する密着性が高い接着層9を介在させることにより、素管3の表面を構成するメッキ層5を研磨することなく外層7と素管3との間の十分な密着性を確保できる。
 実施例2は、接着層9の材質を、実施例1に対して変更し、カーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物としたものである。なお、実施例2は、接着層9の材質を除いて実施例1と同様であるため、構造については実施例1の図1~図3を参照して重複した説明を省略する。ただし、接着層9の肉厚は、実施例1において約0.02mmであったのに対し、本実施例において約0.06mmとなっている。
 カーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物は、エポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したものである。
 本実施例において、硬化剤としては、アミン系硬化剤だけでなく、酸無水物系硬化剤等を用いることも可能である。接着層9に分散されるカーボンナノチューブは、外径が0.5~100nm程度であり、長さが数nm~数mm程度のものとなっている。
 本実施例の接着層9は、ゲル状の接着層シート23が加熱により硬化することで形成されている。硬化前において、接着層シート23は、カーボンナノチューブを0.5~10%(重量)、好ましくは1~5%の割合で含有した樹脂フィルムである。なお、上記成分の含有割合は、一例であり、適宜変更することが可能である。
 図8は、ゴルフシャフト1の製造時の第1のプリプレグ17aに接着層シート23を貼り付けた状態を示す断面図である。
 ゴルフシャフト1の製造時には、接着層シート23を第1のプリプレグ17aに貼り付けておき、接着層シート23により第1のプリプレグ17aを素管3のメッキ層5に貼り付ける。その後は、実施例1と同様にして、第2~第6のプリプレグ17b~17fを積層して巻付品19を形成し、テープ21で巻き付け状態を保持した後に加熱し、硬化した外層7を切削することによって所望の特性を得る。
 かかる実施例2においても、実施例1と同様の作用効果を奏することができる。また、実施例2では、接着層9がエポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したカーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物であるため、実施例1よりも強度を高くすることができる。

Claims (5)

  1.  スチール製の素管と、
     該素管の外周に形成されたメッキ層と、
     該メッキ層を被覆する外層と、
     前記メッキ層と前記外層との間に介在して前記メッキ層と前記外層との間を接着する接着層とを備え、
     前記外層は、エポキシ樹脂をマトリックス樹脂とする繊維強化プラスチックで形成され、
     前記接着層は、エポキシ樹脂及び二種以上のアミン系硬化剤を混合した混合硬化剤を含有するエポキシ樹脂組成物、又はエポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したカーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物である、
     ことを特徴とするゴルフシャフト。
  2.  請求項1記載のゴルフシャフトであって、
     前記接着層は、前記エポキシ樹脂組成物であり、
     前記アミン系硬化剤は、脂肪族ポリアミン、脂環式ポリアミン、芳香族ポリアミン、ポリアミドアミンから選択された異なる二種以上のアミン系硬化剤である、
     ことを特徴とするゴルフシャフト。
  3.  請求項2記載のゴルフシャフトであって、
     前記アミン系硬化剤は、トリエチレンテトラミン及びポリアミドアミンの二種類であり、前記ポリアミドアミンが前記トリエチレンテトラミンよりも多くなるように配合されている、
     ことを特徴とするゴルフシャフト。
  4.  請求項1記載のゴルフシャフトであって、
     前記接着層は、前記カーボンナノチューブ樹脂組成物であり、エポキシ樹脂及び少なくとも一種の硬化剤を含有すると共にカーボンナノチューブを分散したものである、
     ことを特徴とするゴルフシャフト。
  5.  請求項4記載のゴルフシャフトであって、
     前記硬化剤は、アミン系硬化剤又は酸無水物系硬化剤である、
     ことを特徴とするゴルフシャフト。
